Another way is to 1. Go to welcome hub 2. Pick media gallery 3. Pick media gallery again 4. Pick a photo you saved from browser on ps5 5. Pick edit 6. Pick crop 7. Position and zoom into your picture untill there is nothing but the picture in the grid(rectangles) 8. Save 9. Now you can choose your background and add it as theme by going to welcome hub , change background, and selecting your picture your cropped 😏

Easiest way I found out to do it is sending a photo on ps app to someone or an alt account, screenshot it, crop and put it as your background. Ta-daa

Maybe this will help. I didn't have the Welcome screen so I decided to just look around at the media gallery and try to set some pictures as backgrounds. After a dozen times nothing happened (obviously). But when I returned to the main PlayStation screen.....The Welcome screen it just magically appeared. I really dont know why but maybe this helps someone.

@QsDarkMist I went to the PlayStation Media gallery (the PlayStation automatically saves trophy and achievement pictures) and just clicked on a bunch of videos and pictures. The press start button look at the information and even try to edit a few pictures. I did that for about 5-10 minutes, then when I returned to the main screen, it just appeared.

I just figured this out on my own (got the Welcome Hub yesterday) and so I checked if I needed to make a video for it or not, but looks like you were already on the case! Cheers! I find it disturbing that back on the PS3 you could copy images from a USB drive to the console and set them as custom wallpapers and anything you want, you had full control and it was a true "multimedia console" same as the X360, but now on PS5 you cannot copy images to the PS5, you cannot view them if they have a resolution higher than 4K, and you have to find such hidden ways just to have a custom image on the PS5 and set it as wallpaper. I'm not sure why they're ripping us off more and more freedom and features, but it's really too bad. It seems to be a trend, Microsoft does it too on Windows, just look at the difference between Windows 7 and Windows 11.

Try sending that picture to one of your friends using psn App....and take screenshot of that picture... it'll fix it

Probably gonna use fives ct-5555 to represent the ps5. I named my ps5 “fives”, named after a clone trooper named “fives” from the clone wars. It’s because the clone troopers color themes are blue (blue fire) black and white (armour) is like the ps5 theme color of black and white (design) and blue (blue lights)
