I’ve been solving square 1 for 9 days now and I average high 30’s to low 40’s and my best time is a 22 second solve. My goal is to be sub 15 which is what I average on 3x3 because I think it would be cool to be sub 15 on 2 puzzles. The step that’s holding me back the most right now is EP because my recognition is really bad. I also sometimes get really bad CS cases and it takes me up to 10 seconds, but I usually average 5-7 seconds on that step. I started off learning intermediate CS because when I started researching square 1 I watched that video and thought it didn’t look that hard, which it wasn’t. My CO and EO aren’t that bad but I only know 2 EO algs, one of which being M2. For CP I know all of the algs for it but my recognition is pretty slow. And for EP it takes me like 15-20 seconds so I’m going to learn some algs for that so I have more options than Adj/Adj.

The only problem with square-1 is that it breaks. I live in Brazil so the shipping took 2 whole months. I was averaging 30-33 seconds when my Cosmic MGC broke and know I am averaging about 52-53 seconds because I have forgotten a lot of my EP and how to do scallop-kite cube shape.

@camerontheninja9592 Жыл бұрын
Hmm, because of how the pieces are on a square-1 and the inherently bad reverse corner cutting, I can never make the layers stop in the right spot when going fast so I'm constantly making wrong turns, how do you do that?

Thoughts on tingmans sq1 tutorial
@none01136 ай бұрын
What I find fascinating about people speedsolving square-1s is that the square-1 goes from a very jumbled state into a clean state in such a short time, it's almost as if they are reading a 100-page book at the speed of light😂

How much would you recommend learning/changing to Lin from LV at this level?
@CubeMasterYT3 жыл бұрын
I'm biased of course but I would recommend not switching since LV has the most resources and has more potential (kinda like CFOP compared to Roux). However, if you really want to, switching as early as possible is probably better to get a head start, and Lin does have a lot of potential to be fast as well.

@davidcejka2532 жыл бұрын
hi, i have 2 questions: 1: can i lube a sq1 like i would lube a 3x3(without dissasembling)? LIke opening a gap between corner and edge and putting a drop of lube in there? 2: can i lube a square 1 with a water based lube(Like Dnm 37) or would that make the cubes springs rust or anything like that? Thanks
@Iamrealme2 жыл бұрын
For the first question you kinda can and for the second one as long as you’re not lubing the core

So I know this is an old video but I've got to say this I'm trying to learn sq-1 (to become faster I already know how to solve it) and its extremly hard to follow for the following reasons 1. You do the algs fast without showing notation so I'm slowing the video down to 0.75x and still cant follow along with the moves your doing 2. You're turn th cube up and down a lot so it's hard to follow making sure I have the same cases you do and you also do a lot of cuts that arent mentioned or anything
