So I am interested in how you pre-sell your firewood - did’t see the link you were referencing. I am considering a new splitter now - kind of thinking about the split fire 2265 - it has a 6 second cycle time and it splits in both the forward and retract stoke - so that’s a split every 3 seconds if you can keep up. Enjoyed your video - great job!

Hey John thanks for the comment. I don’t know the splitter you’re talking about but I’m gonna do some research on it sounds very interesting. How we pre-sold wood. We created a Venmo account and advertised our firewood only on Facebook marketplace. We had pictures of the bundles that we sold in those red bags and of the wooden pallet bins with specific amounts. So people could Venmo us the money if we had the exact amount of wood they wanted already made up. Then we would tag that wood with their name and they could come by and pick it up on whatever day they wanted to. And because they had already paid for it they could pay it even a week in advance and that wood would be there when they wanted to come. We just asked it when they picked up the wood they would let us know they got it OK. Make sense? So 95% of the wood we sold was pre-paid that way.

Why not just take a shovel and shovel the wood chips into your outdoor furnace. A friend of mine has an outdoor boiler to heat his house and shop and I was there when a local tree company dropped of a load of wood but also had a load of wood chips and I asked where they were taking them. The town dump I was told and I told him no need dump them here. When my friend got home he was why are there wood chips here? I told him you have an outdoor wood burning boiler. I stopped by the hardware store an bought an aluminum coal scoop to shovel the wood chips into the fire box. He burns year round for domestic hot water. I simply opened the firebox door and added about 10 scoops of wood chips into the firebox. He was quite surprised when they burned just fine with a little smoke when first added. My answer to him was it’s easier for your wife the shovel wood chips instead of add logs. She loves it and four years later he’s still burning wood chips and logs. Food for thought

Great comment James! I wish we could burn that kind of wood here but we’re only allowed to burn on certain days especially during the winter time because of our incredible pollution in the Salt Lake Valley. So unless your house rely solely on wood for heat there is actually very few days in the winter time on most years that we can burn wood. Our pollution problem here is really bad and with what development is happening it’s going to get extremely worse. There are people who have already sold their homes and moved out because they see the writing on the wall. But I’m really glad to hear about people using wood especially the wood chips. That’s very cool. Thanks again James!

Actually we have a couple acres in so we’re not right up against our neighbors. And we respect all of the times that we work the business so I don’t think it bothers him at all.

Nice job Peter. Too much of that wood goes to waste. I mostly salvage slash piles and standing dead trees in my videos! Check it out.

@lifewithpeter28193 жыл бұрын
@@happycamper2976 true does have much more sap. Not a problem for us as our customers burn outside in backyards or out camping. Most of our wood is hardwood and only a small portion is pine and sprinkled in with the hardwood if at all. Where we are we rarely get evergreen.

Cedar isnt good in a fire place either
@lifewithpeter28193 жыл бұрын
We have some cedar here and it is ok for stoves and fireplaces. Almost no sap. Of course no matter what people have to maintain their chimneys consistently with cleaning.
