How to get GPS from Flite Test EZ-ID to Betaflight

Here are the exact steps you need to take to get GPS location data from the Flite Test EZ-ID Remote ID broadcast module into Betaflight so you can use the coordinates for return to home, display on your OSD, etc.
Step 1: Wiring diagram is incorrect. Connect second pad from left (when looking at the back of the board) to a RX pad on your flight controller.
Step 2: Update to Betaflight 4.4.3-zulu ( or anything newer ).
Step 3: Enable MSP on the UART you connected the wire to.
Step 4: Enable GPS and select MSP.

Hey there! Thanks for putting this together. I have an issue, hoping you can help. I don't have an option in BF10.10 for a 4.5-zulu firmware and I absolutely cannot get GPS to work on 4.5.0-RC2. Any idea what's going on?

Tried RTH and today and even though i had 20 satellites and it registered my home point this gps would not work correctly to fly home. Has anyone had the RTH function work via msp? Im thinking there is a lot more work to be done here.

Can this be powered by the 3.3 pin output?

There should be more shown in the gps tab. The gps tab should have info about each sat and yours is greyed out like mine. Once i switching to a separate gps from the ezid i then was able to see the data from each satellite in the gps tab. The way you have it setup does not work correctly and you will have your home point off even if you have 20 satellites.

Any Idea why when I select mps for my uart2 that its on that it removes everything selected from the ports tab?

If you try to enable MSP on a 3rd or maybe it is 4th port, it will reset all the ports. MSP is not supported on that many ports. That's my first guess.

@5zero7RC i was going between your video and bardwells on gps m10 and i was selecting gps in tve ports tab after i clicked msp and that caused it to reset it.

What do the other pads do in the row of 7? Is there another ground and power?

Not sure, but probably for the manufacturer to install firmware.

You have the m8 version right? I got the new m10 version and am only getting 5-6 satellites and according to bardwell you need to do an update to the m10 for it work correctly. Do you know anything about the new m10 flit test module?

Yes, I have the m8 version of the EZ ID. As far as I know the m10 that is part of the EZ ID should have all the updates applied before it was shipped.

@BuddsSkyCam sort of BF4.4.x has too many dev mistakes and no support fro the M10 so it takes far longer for cold start. Use the better and safer BF4.3.2; GPS rescue is unsafe on BF4.4x in our opinion and we pulled it from all iFlight product that uses GPS - wait for BF 4.5 with full M10 support or just use BF4.3.2 that doesn't slow cold start as much on the M10. 4.5 is RC1 now release should not be too far. and its amazing with return to home and fast M10 support. too.

@TheMoonwatchers i was talking on the bf discord and was able to get 4.5 zulu updated yesterday morning and i went from 6-8 sats sitting in my house on 4.5 rc1 to now 10-12 on 4.5 zulu just have to make sure barometer is off. They are working on it but 4.5 zulu with baro on and gps on, the gps will not work. Spent all day yesterday chasing that issue, after the day before there was an msp issue when using gps but its working really well today and i hope to test the gps tomorrow in a bigger area.

Have you tried RTH with that setup on betaflight? Are you using this same method for INav?

I have never tried to use INav. I have not yet tried RTH, but I do get good GPS coordinates in my OSD, so I assume it could work normally.

@@BuddsSkyCam I'm having the same problem as you! I can get the GPS tab to partially work with GPS over MSP, but still can't see the quality of satellites. Whenever I arm (making sure I have plenty of satellites, usually 12+!), the OSD warns "RESCUE N/A", which means I GPS rescue won't takeover in the event of a true failsafe. When I activate failsafe via switch, it just hovers in place for 20 sec (and is of course blown by the wind) due to sanity checks. I noticed that telemetry and betaflight will recognize the number of satellites, but my OSD always says "NC", which I'm guessing means that the OSD parameter, which must be different than telemetry (?). Perhaps there's something there on why GPS rescue isn't working when using GPS over MSP with the Flite Test EZ ID. I opened a bug report on the betaflight github page, but I don't think the developer understood my problem. I'm curious what you think. github.com/betaflight/betaflight/issues/13484
