Hey Natalie! Thank you so much for all of the helpful ballet tips and beginners dance routines, it has been so amazing to have these to practice at home with while I get back into dance again after taking a few years off! :)

You could have your leg to your ear. You have the flexibility. The problem with the last thing you showed is that you moved your body towards the side of your supporting leg when you showed the grand battement incorrect. You must throw your leg far away, your hip will inevitably go up past 80°-100°, but your center shouldn't move away from your axis (the ankle is your axis center, it's the same on flat, on demi-point or on point). - If you don't throw your leg far, and your center moves towards the supporting leg (away from the axis), that's a problem - If you lift up your working hip before 80°-100°, that's a problem Essentially you must worry about holding your turnout, pointing the foot, throwing it FAR away (away and UP, like trying to reach the ceiling), and holding your torso exactly in the same place it is at first position (yeah, don't go to your fifth position torso placement, the real place is that of the first position), then you can free your leg/hip, and it will reach the maximum place without disturbing the torso, the arms, the head nor the supporting leg. At least that's how it should be if you want to reach further than 135° (which you clearly can).

Of course, for movements at 60° or 90°, hip must remain square. And there should always be exercises each class at those ranges to make sure everything is in place.

i have my splits and over-splits on both sides but my battements and fondues are still considerably low. what do i do to improve them?

If you’ve got the flexibility for higher extensions, work on the other aspects she mentioned: strength and technique. Strength work in particular will probably help a lot.

You updated all the videos? Because I saw them before but it says it just uploaded

Hi Amira, I moved the videos from my main channel to this channel (my ballet channel) that's why it says they have just been uploaded. I though it would be easier to find my ballet videos if they are all on this channel :)

When I support my legs with my arms I can lift it higher but I can’t by itself. Is there a reason for that and is there a way I can improve it?
@NatalieDanzaBallet2 жыл бұрын
You need to build strength. Try to increase leg height (without your arms) and hold your leg up for longer. If you do this each class your muscles will get stronger ☺️

I just can't get my leg higher with turn out. My turnout is so bad, I feel really restricted, cause I can't even have my leg properly to the side, it's more front than side Also my hip crunches When I do grand battetmant in the centre I can't get my leg up with control at all. I wable around like crraaaap Any help:)?
@NatalieDanzaBallet5 жыл бұрын
Definitely work on your flexibility. Try to get closer to the middle splits will really help you be able to open your leg more to the side. Also if your grand battlements don't feel very secure, definitely work on your core strength. And also make sure you're pulling up your supporting leg! Hope this helps and good luck :)
