Serena was saying your knees should never be pointed down, your knees are perfectly aligned to hit the serve, I have been practicing hitting the ball over a 12 foot fence, and trying to serve the ball in the other courts service box. This was an excellent video my friend. Great job on teaching this serve my friend.

This is the best looking kick serve I’ve seen on any tennis channel. How the heck do you kick it that high 😂 I watch lots of tennis channels but nobody can kick it like you did

@@capricornmagic63has to be a fake comment. Always the same with internet gurus. 40mph serves that peak at 3 feet and can’t even reach the fence 😂😂😂😂. I’m 51, I can still kick an 85 mph serve & feet up up the fence (I try to clear the door by 1 to 2 feet) and on a great day, maybe 1 out of 10 will clear a 10 foot fence. And I was never a pro…. But yeah… the internet.. armchair coaches… I’ll give you a massive kick… even though I can’t crack an egg with my own serve….

Pete. one of your favorite kick serve tips. Is that you have mentioned visualizing the tomahawk chop. I like that tip. Also I like the idea of the chest opening up. Great.

Hey Pete...Good Stuff...You were getting some real nice kick with seemingly little effort. That's my goal. Quick question regarding grip. Were you suggesting more of an eastern backhand grip for the kick serve?

I’ve found that slowing things down by practicing with a 3” quick start foam tennis ball in the house/driveway helps me to see the topspin (kick) vs side spin (slice). Great feedback if you can’t get on the court

Hey Pete. Another question. You're lefty...as am I...hitting big kicks into the deuce court. Would you change anything in stance, toss, motion, etc...if you were hitting kick serves to the Ad Court?

My kick serve has greatly improved due to your tips (and opening the chest is new) but I need more speed. Do I do this by placing the ball further into the court ( but still above my head)? How is Thiem getting speed and huge kick? I notice he leaves his arm out to the side, but this can cause pain.
@tenniswithric

Yes, just a bit more into the court, and your body can move under the ball to get that extra forward momentum but still having the ball over your heard.

Great video. I am a lefty too. Can you analyse and show Nadal's serves including his kick one? I am very rarely playing on hard court where the effects put on a serve are best seen. :) My club has still Canada -Ten but we will change to a clay look alike type of surface like French-Court or Match-Clay. Thank you in advance for your reaction and input.

Is a top spin serve same as the kick serve? Secondly, how many inches or feet of net clearance do you expect weekend tennis players to produce from their kick serves?

Great video. I noticed all of your serves were to the far side. I'm learning the kick serve and found going wide was much easier than going up the T. I'm right-handed, so this happens in the ad court. Insights? Thank you!

Me totally obsessed? Shamelessly, yes. Among the multiple channels instructing kick serve, I don't consider this a repeat of the others. It's more icing and more cake. * Open the chest. OK. And looking more like a professional tennis player! (haha) Thanks for this tip! * Lobbing the kick serve. got it! love it! Thanks! * Legs, of course, thanks. * Jumping. yes, but later. thanks.

I think only two of those demonstrations were true kick serves. Too many on here hit very good top spin serves that are not true kick serves. The legitimate kick serves break away from the returner. the majority of these serves bounce high for sure but they are traveling directly toward the returner and thats not a kick serve. The clip at 2.43 of Jeff Salzenstein is what a true kick serve looks like.

The height also depends on how tall you are. A shorter person will not get the height you got, no matter the technique. I played a former college player once. He's in his 60's already, and I was a young guy, but my level wasn't his, so he was only serving 2nd serve. I had to stand far behind the baseline, like Nadal, otherwise the ball jumped to my eyes. He's 6'4"
@tenniswithric
@tenniswithric 2 жыл бұрын
Sure height is one of the main factors, but you do see shorter pros like David Ferrer, Diego Schwsrtzman, Kei Nishikori who can generate great (although not the best) topspin on their serves. Sure they are professional players but that's not the point, the point here is that it's doable at least up to pro level.
@tomsd8656
@tomsd8656 2 жыл бұрын
@@tenniswithric yes it's doable, though a short player won't generate kick that pulls you off the court too far. To get more kick, a short player would have to hit up on the ball to send it high in the sky before top spin brings it down, but in that case the ball doesn't have as much speed, so easier to handle, to take it early for example. Of course if you're much shorter than the opponent, then it doesn't matter what his height is. If he can hit a good kick serve, you're gonna struggle.
@tenniswithric
@tenniswithric 2 жыл бұрын
@@tomsd8656 yea agree, if the person is tall and possess a great kick serve, it's always bound to be better in general as compared to a short player. That's what makes it interesting though the difference in style, tall players like Isner, Kalovic tends to lack the speed shorter players have.
@tomsd8656
@tomsd8656 2 жыл бұрын
@@tenniswithric Yes, serve is important, but breaking serve is equally important because you can't win if you don't break serve, or win some points against the server in tie break . But for amateur to face the serve of a high level player (like a college player), is eye opening, and for me it was only to deal with his second serve, which kicked to my head if I didn't back up. Taking on the rise is also very difficult when your level is significantly below. But it's good to face such pressure, because you do get used to it after a while. Since we were playing double, after receiving his serve, his amateur partner's serve seemed like slow motion.
@tenniswithric
@tenniswithric 2 жыл бұрын
@@tomsd8656 I used to play D1 tennis back in college about 10 years ago and have faced quite a few of these tall kickers. I'm slightly under 6 ft. On a bad day when I couldn't find my rythmn, our coach used to tell us to just block/slice it back into play, actually start making them play tennis otherwise you're just giving free points away. I'm not sure what your actual level is but taking the ball on the rise against a heavy kicker is hard even for someone who's let's say 4.5+ level. There is no shame to stand further behind the baseline to give yourself more time as you've already said, and this applies to any level.

Lol. It’s always the same with internet gurus… 35 mph serve that peaks 3 feet up and bounces before the fence 😂😂😂. I’m 51 and can still kick the ball 8 feet up the fence at about 85mph, and once in a while clear a 10 foot fence… and I was never a pro…

even in slow-mo.. your swing path is confusing me.. or more accurate.. the racket next to you for starters.. your serve looks like you hit the ball using the outside part of the racket. not the inside. i try explain more clear. racket in continental. now the strings/racket facing towards your body. i hit with that. you however look like you hit with the part of the racket/strings facing the fence and not the part that is toward your body. maybe i'm tired but am i serving wrong lol is that normal? or is it just the camera angle.

Nice but you are left handed. Shouldn't you have a right handed demonstrate. Since the majority of players are righties.
