Hi Brittany I've followed you since you first started making KZbin videos and you were still in cosmetology school. As a fellow cosmetologist Who is working in a salon as an employee I feel very inspired watching your videos today. I love what your channel has become. KZbin is over saturated with ''beauty gurus'' and its so refreshing to have someone who is actually licensed giving a realistic perspective on this industry. Every time I'm going through an obstacle in this career you coincidentally post a video speaking about how to over come it. You're amazing you've taught me how to grow a back bone and be confident within myself. Please keep posting through your journey 💜

Omg thank you! And yes, I hope to bring knowledge to KZbin backed by education.

Love this, love your attitude! I am starting school to be a licensed Esthetician and makeup artist in August. So even though this video is your experience with hair and business, you literally hit the "in general" aspect of the beauty business. Keep making these videos because youtube needs REAL like you. Very inspiring, keep up the videos babes!

Hi Brittany, I love how your video showed what stands you apart. Thanks for your wisdom regarding a portfolio and how you got people to participate, that was sheer genius. By being forward thinking, you remove the stress on the employer, and display confidence. I would suggest with your portfolio explain to your potential boss, where you learnt your craft - give credit to others, what you learnt when you did each model, which shows your growth, communication, teamwork, agility and teachability. Also, project positive energy explain what you like to work here, appreciate the businesses, culture, vibe and then what can you add to it. Consolidate this with a success story - your point of difference which can compliment the business. TIP: At hairdressing school, be aware of time management work towards professional times for example blow-drying hair, so when you do a trial you will be more comfortable with the task. Thanks for this video I appreciated the quality content. It was very helpful.

I'm getting ready to relocate to a new city and am about to start looking for new salons to apply to. My current salon is three chairs small and is super old fashioned. I'm ready for a new, trendy place and was super nervous about how to apply. This video really helped and made me more confident in my moving process. Thank you so much girl!
@OkieGirl19975 жыл бұрын
I honestly have to disagree with the “looking neutral and discreet” that forces people to not stand out. If a stylist is bold and outgoing, why hide that in an interview? If that salon doesn’t like you for whatever makes you unique, you don’t want to work there anyway.

Can you do a video on how a hairstylist resume should look like. I graduated in august 2017 and i have been applying at salons. But i feel like my resume and cover letter arent the best. So if you have any tips on those that would be great!!!

I love that you did this video because I think it's a real awakening for some people who don't know about the hair industry. I think it was a amazing video. Yes I think it would be great if you can go in depth with some of things you mentioned I would be interested to hear about it. Also maybe if you can give a few more examples of a little more in depth with how you can kinda of MilK your resume. I think that would be awesome. Overall if you make more videos about this subject I'll be happy to watch. I also agree with you on your appearance a natural beauty is perfect I would think so too not so much a drag queen but putting your self together. Take care Love your videos

I'm really late, commenting on this video, but I had a question in regards to looking professional. As a professional cosmetologist, what advice do you have for male cosmetologists, and how the should dress and present themselves? You made very good points about looking the part, but I felt that a good bit of it was more so for the female cosmetologists. I appreciate any feedback!!

mcolem61 hello! What I wore to my interview was a black dress shirt, and black pants. I had my hair styled as comb over. Just try to wear something professional, and clean. Style your hair. I hope this helps.

Did you go to a community college that offers cosmetology or did you attend a private school (like Paul Mitchell). I want to go to school but I don't know that I can justify the 15k+ that it takes to attend a school like PM. Is it worth the cost? Or am I better off going to a local vocational school where I don't have to take out any loans? Thanks!
@elizabethmcgraw76127 жыл бұрын
brokebeautygeek most ppl I know that went to PM are not confident behind the chair
@HeatherScissorhandZ6 жыл бұрын
Sorry I’m late, but I always suggest community college. Do your research, look at the reviews, tour the schools, go with your vibes. No matter what school you attend, your going to learn the basics, passing the state boards with different teaching styles. I feel like Paul Mitchell or big name schools, your paying for the name but also you learn a secret or two of how they cut, style etc.

Oh god! The drag queen thing still going strong!! I hate it. In 2016 I had a makeup instagram account and I got so sick of it I ultimately deleted my account. I do my own makeup the way you're wearing yours here. This is a really considerate video. I'm in real estate where we don't need resumes, but most of the rest of this stuff is a lot like real estate. I need the kinds of jobs that are different, that require ongoing learning, and allow me to the space to have my own personality.

They use to have a site that helped you do your resume because I didn't know how to do a resume and in college they told us to go to www.10minuteresume.com but I don't know if that is the correct name or if it even still exists. Without it I would not have had a resume.

Not sure about the nail part... I had a hair stylist with long nails (who obviously didn't know how to treat someone) that washed my hair and I had bloody skin at the end of the treatment. One of the reason I watch at the nails of my hair stylist now and yours would be too long for "my taste". Granted people should know that, but if you educate people I would appreciate a warning.
@lovegorgeoushair7 жыл бұрын
Nehlenia that sounds more like a personal trauma issue. There are stylists with short nails that can make your scalp bleed too, and there are stylists with long nails that give amazing shampoo and scalp massages. You have to let your stylist know as soon as they are hurting you. Don't stay quiet if your in pain. We're not mind readers, and we don't try to hurt our paying clients.
