Do a video for young high school students that want to attend law school. What’s the path high school students should take in order to exceed in law school?
@shruthituplur1884 жыл бұрын
I’m still an undergrad but I’ve been doing HELLA research on this stuff. One thing I would DEFINITELY say is try to get some leadership experience and be dedicated to at least one school organization or club. That’s something I really wish I did in high school. Also, please PLEASE take your grades seriously, I also wish I did that, too. In college, I would highly suggest NOT majoring in pre-law. That really doesn’t help you that much for law school. Your major doesn’t matter TOO much (unless you wanna be a patent lawyer, in which case a STEM major is pretty recommended) but you need to make sure you take classes that have a lot of writing involved, like philosophy and writing classes, for example. Make sure you take classes that teach you logic, as well. Mostly, at least for me, the thing I wish I would’ve done in high school to prepare me better for the law school application process is just make sure you stay dedicated to school and try to be as involved as you can!!

Hi, Could you possibly share and show how to study for the LSAT ?
@sophie77805 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I'm attending law school in Canada (I had to take the LSAT too)! People study for the LSAT in all kinds of ways, there are courses you can take in person or online or you can buy books and self-study. I took an in person course which I found helpful, but I did that because I knew that's how I learn best. Khan Academy has a free course you can take and many people have very successfully studied on their own. There are some really popular books that keep coming up as suggestions; PowerScore Bibles are always topping lists. At the end of the day it depends on how you learn best. The absolute most important thing about studying for the LSAT is practice. The hard thing about the test is how short it is - you only have 35 minutes a section. The only way to improve your speed without compromising accuracy is getting practice. Good luck and I hope this was helpful!
@Cindy997654 жыл бұрын

@@Mahamaven What did you study for the lsat?
@jess_bounce3 жыл бұрын
@@chloemorrison8861 you study the LSAT itself. Previous LSATs get released and you can buy them online. I think 1-2 previous exams were available for free on the LSAT website when I was studying for it. There are also in-person and online courses. And some KZbin vids that can help. For example, they will break down questions from previous analytical reasoning sections and show how to get the correct answer. But the best way to study is by taking practice tests over and over and over again.

If so please point me in the direction. But in the meantime, can you explain more about the grading on a curve and did you take any prep courses for the LSAT? I'm seriously considering taking Kaplan but I'm not sure if I should or not.. Help please!!!
@sophie77805 жыл бұрын
Hi! This is late and you've probably already applied and I'm a random law student from Canada but just in case here's some answers to your questions if you still need some guidance! (US law schools and Canadian law schools both grade on a B curve and require the LSAT - my answers might be a bit different from the American experience but it should apply.) The curve means that every course's average must be a B. At my school, a B is between 74-76%. The course average cannot be 73.9 or 76.1. This is very strictly adhered to. What this really comes down to is that you're not being graded on the objective quality of your work as much as you are being graded as compared to your classmates. The most useful way I've heard it put is this: if a professor really wants to give someone an A, someone else has to get a C. It's harsh and it's hard to beat the curve, but it's not impossible. Regarding prepping for the LSAT, I took a Princeton Review course. I found it helpful and a good way to keep me disciplined but personally I'm not sure I'd take the same course again, I'd probably go with a different company. That being said, whether or not to take a course depends a lot on how you learn and your needs. Do you need a flexible course? Something online or self-study with books might be best. Do you like the structure of a classroom environment? Go for an in person class. Financial considerations should be taken into account too - you're not only potentially paying for a course, but you'll have to pay for books, registering for the LSAT, application fees, and eventually tuition. Ultimately the most important thing is to get a ton of practice. I downloaded the 7sage app and used the proctor to run practice tests as often as possible; if I didn't have time for a full test, I'd do some timed sections instead. The only way to improve your score is practice. Good luck and I hope this was helpful! And if you've already submitted your application wishing you all the success!
