Tips from a NYU grad on how to improve your application to get into NYU Tisch School of the Arts for Film & Television Production (undergrad)! In this video I discuss FIVE TIPS which include specific strategies to increase your chance of acceptance, and advice for the Tisch supplement (short film and written portion).
MY NYU SUMMER HS FILM PROGRAM VIDEO:
• NYU Summer High School...
MY FILM APPLICATION TO NYU:
• ACCEPTED NYU TISCH FIL...
NYU VS. USC FILM SCHOOL VIDEO:
• FILM SCHOOL | NYU VS. ...

VIMEO: vimeo.com/nadi...
Since it’s common knowledge that NYU wants very good grades, high test scores, and a standout common app, I decided to focus more on the supplement rather than general college admissions advice. Yes, NYU wants good grades and to see that you’re doing extracurricular activities, but that’s not everything, especially when it comes to majoring in the arts.
Please note that I’M NOT FROM ADMISSIONS. This video will not guarantee you entry into NYU. My goal is to simply help you increase your chance of acceptance and make you aware of certain elements that could help you get in. I know how stressful the college application process is, and I want to help. :)
If you liked this video, please give it a thumbs up, share it with your friends, and of course SUBSCRIBE to join the fam!

Hi Nadia! I appreciate how helpful this and many other videos you've made are. I just skimmed through your channel and noticed that you do not want to focus your channel on film school videos, which is absolutely understandable; however, as a struggling human being with hopes and dreams of making great films, I just can't help writing out asking for advice (of course, if you're not responding to advice comments at the moment, I understand and maybe some other user reading me can help out). I'm almost 23 years old and have 2 years of studying Law at a University here in Peru, but am very unhappy and this is not the path I want my life to take. I have recently seen the opportunity of moving to NYC. I grew up in NYC, but completed High School in Peru. I'm ready to leave it all behind and start everything from scratch. I heard: we should always go for the option that scares us the most, but what's really scary is that I simply have no idea of what my chances are of getting into NYU Film School seeing that SAT/GPA are not something we work with here in Peru and it's been a long time since I finished High School. With this background, what are the options I have of getting in? I just barely started investigating about this and your video is the first thing I saw and I'll be sure to read around non-stop to inform myself as much as possible, but any advice coming from you would be much appreciated. Thank youuu! (Also: NYU is a bit pricey... so what could my options be for obtaining a scholarship?)

They don't really care if you went or didn't go to film school, you just need to keep and keep and keep getting experience mostly when you start you will be a PA (Production Assistant), then you can work your way up from there, or you can make short films then from that you can possibly make films, there are endless possibilities to get into the film industry, you don't need film school but it helps with connections and seeing professional gear, there are pros and cons, but film school is really not necessary from what I have seen, I am personally going to get connections mainly the secondary the knowledge

I went to NYU with Jonathan Yi, I'm watching these videos to make my own... I know a guy who worked in the admissions office as a TA... the woman would through demo VHS tapes across the room into a pile and not watch some... place is lord of the flies. I did have a 4.14gpa and 1350 back in 2003. For the Demo, they are looking to see if you have family or friends in the industry... I got into sfw and just made friends with my TA... everybodies reels sucked in 2003, it really didn't matter, grades and sat and essay is what seemed to matter. Your parents can also donate tons of money, one kid in our year was straight autistic and his parents gave money for that renovation that makes the school look lame, pre 2004 nyu film floors were for artists... new renovation is for children of rich kids...

Hello Nadia, Thankyou for this video. I would really like to enter NYU Film School, however my situation is sort of unique. I am currently 31 years old. I went to a CUNY school in my early 20s and earned a degree in biology by using federal and state financial aid. I ended up not having sustained employment in that field and my enthusiasm in the sciences has waned significantly. One thing that is still true is that I have a fervent passion for cinema and visual storytelling. I always did since I was a young boy. I've been writing screenplays and making shorts for the past 4 years, so I do have a portfolio. I believe NYU Tisch is the best film school in the country and I've always admired the NYU community for their humanistic attitudes. I plan to apply for admission for Fall 2021 take out a loan. Do you think my age is a problem, and did you see anyone from my age group in your program when you were there?
@nadiafedchin5715

Hi Kiara! Great question and not dumb at all haha :) Film Studies is more about watching and analyzing films, learning about cinema history, etc. Think film critic type. Whereas, Film & TV Production is more about learning how to develop and create the material. It's much more physical and creative; however, there's definitely overlap. Hope this helps!

Idk I just feel like it’s not as good as all the other accepted applicants and I was wondering if maybe you would see what maybe caught NYU’s interest since you’ve gone through the professors and everything and really know what they are looking for and I know it had something to do with my film and essays that I turned in since I didn’t exactly have the best academic record aha but anyways I’m sorta rambling and you don’t have to but idk I’m just sorta wondering? Did you ever have Rick Litvin? I was a RA and one year had to sit through his orientation speech to his high school kids and he was all saying how The Godfather is his favorite movie and how, "all of you need to be like the mafia"... my nyu class was objectively awful... my mother taught human development at UCD for 40 years and NYU Film is academic fraud given what I witnessed at NYU and what I witnessed being raised by a undergrad and graduate professor in Davis, California... Don't go to film school... wait till you are 25 and do Masterclass for $180.... I worked in the equipment rental with Terrance Nance, Mike Judge also agrees... and PT Anderson... all agree, film school is a scam for undergrad... you are suppose to learn to think in undergrad and NYU Film does not encourage that.

Hi Nadia! I'm 13 right now, and I live abroad. I've always wanted to study film because it's so interesting and it has been my dream since I was 10 years old. Is there any kind of thing I need to do to earn a merit-based scholarship? Thanks a lot!
