I think that’s right, if you’re willing to dispute it. I think that if you lose the dispute3 times, your channel will be deleted. I’m no KZbinr, so I may be way off base on this one. What I’m driving at is that I think many KZbinrs don’t even fight copyright claims for fear of severe, irreversible consequences. In this moment, I cannot remember where I think I’ve heard this before. Maybe someone can confirm or correct me on this?

Just an additional comment for newer players, this type of amp sim also requires a computer, an external audio interface and either monitors or headphones for the actual sound. If you’re starting from scratch this isn’t truly a $150 option. You will also need a DAW which some are free and others cost money, but whatever you choose needs to support the use of VST style plugins.

I love this idea and hope you do more of them! The only thing I’d like if there was a real amp recommendation on a budget (obv for this one the orange Jim root or an evh lunchbox can get you there). I appreciate that many folks use software these days but it’s not all of us!

@@MarcusW87 ML Sound Lab and BIAS FX 2 seem to run really well on cheaper gear. My $500 Lenovo Ideapad and Focusrite Solo will do BIAS for almost 4 hours on battery no problem. The advantage is that, with this setup, you can get any sound you want once you have it. As the software gets better and better, you only have to drop 50 bucks here and there to get a totally new sound that sound like the record through headphones or a cheap PA for whatever volume you want. It took me forever to warm up to amp sims, but it really has been a game changer.
@MarcusW87 Жыл бұрын
@@sitzkrieg8032 I have Bias FX2 as well, on MacOS and iOS. Works like a charm indeed and it was ideal when living in an apartment, didn’t have any real amps then. However, it actually made me want to buy real amps again once I bought a proper house😂. It was a cheap way of determining which amps I liked, and then I got them. Still use the iOS version with earplugs when not at home, but I use a real amp when I am. Bias FX made me realize I love the Peavey 5150 and a modern sounding Marshall, so I looked for a 5150II and a JVM205H. Got great deals on both and it’s all I need really, won’t be buying more amps. I also have a VS8100 for nostalgic reasons though, used to gig with one of those back in the day.

I found the Caline 'Tantrum' distortion pedal to be a good mimic of Jim's sound if you prefer to use hardware rather than a plugin. The pedal was only £30 and it sounds really good and close to Jim's tone if you dial it in correctly.

Do those plug ins sound weird after so long because they're free? There are actual hardware options for mimicing his sound. I'll have additional comments on how to mimic the other stuff, or free amp software. Joyo has their Oxford Sound, which is a clone of the Tech21 Oxford preamp pedal, only minus the XLR out with cab sim. Joyo also makes their Meteor Bantamp, which is a clone of the Jim Root Terror, but in hybrid amp form, more like the Micro Dark. They likewise have their Vivo Bantamp, which is a 5150 III clone of sorts. The Meteor has a channel switching version, while the Vivo does not. Guitar Fetish makes the GFS Twin Clean Drive, which emulates both EL34 and 6L6 power tubes, and can go in the FX loop. Zoom Corp Japan has emulations of the OR120, which is a now discontinued single channel version of a Rockerverb, and it's available either out of the box or via firmware update on all of their multi-FX units, so you can just run that into a PA direct. They also have a custom effect on some units called Dream Drive or something, that is a hybrid between the ADA-MP1 and a JCM800, and this might get you closer to their Piranha preamp fueled self-titled sound. Lastly, DemonFX makes a clone of both the BE-OD and BE-OD Deluxe.

Likewise, you can easily get a cheap copy of any of these guitars from Monoprice, Glarry, Firefly Guitars, etc, grab a new pick guard, and then load his custom pickups in, or get lower output pickups and just throw a Seymour Duncan Active Blackouts Preamp into the thing. I've had good experience doing this with roughly 8k to 10.5k Guitar Fetish pickups, but anyone can just throw whatever they prefer in there, whether it's a '59/Jazz combo from Duncan, some Wilkinson WOB pickups, or the stock ones from a more basic guitar. Hell, you can do the preamp in a regular strat and just throw in a 3 way toggle and then do some rail humbuckers or even grab an H-S routed pickguard and use a stacked single in the neck. Finally, you can use D'Addario EJ21 strings as a cheaper alternative.
