To not scare people away, living frigates no longer cost 700mil to 1 billion, they are only like 9mil or so a pop now (for at least a C class). They reduced that price tag some time ago, a few patches ago at least.

a buddy and I confirmed last night. the living frigate is definitely tied to the system. we got the same one but there was a little difference in the name... stats are RNG and rerolled with food.

Never worry about the class of a frigate when you are recruiting frigates. It does not matter if it's a C class or an S class. That C class frigate will upgrade itself almost immediately. It takes no time at all for a C class to become an S class.

There's a caveat to this. Not all Frigates come with the same 'base' stats. To determine what a Frigates base stats are you add up all their stats, and take away their bonuses. (If they have penalties you ADD those) You also need to factor in the ships 'level'. (They get 6 stats per level up). They level up at roughly 1 level every 5-6 expeditions. (not entirely linear) In the video example. 1+1+16+3 = 21 21 - 15 = 6 Base stats range from -4 to +14. Ironically S classes tend to be the ones with the worst 'base stats' sometimes. If we take the same ship, but it had 25 expeditions (Level 4), it's stats may look something like 7+7+22+9 = 45 45 - 15 = 30 30 - (4x6) = 6 This information is available on the NMS Frigate wiki page.

Used the anomaly detector and bought a living frigate. Found a c class and bought it. Then while I was boosting back to my ship I encountered another one. Also c class. So I bought it. Got back on my freighter to send them on missions and I saw that I didn’t get one of the frigates. But it still took my money. I took a video because I knew I was going to report it to HG and I noticed they were the same frigate! Same name, just one was random encounter and the other was anomaly detection. I guess you can find identical frigates but you can’t own them. HG will take your units though if you try. Lesson? Pay attention to the names of the frigates if you encounter more than one in a single system. Not trying to self promote but if anyone wanted to see it happen to me, it is on my channel.

I had the same thing with normal frigate recruiting, every same type of class frigate for example industrial or combat will be the same name and can only recruit one per system.. I reported it aswell

I love you Beeblebum, your content is top tier. I know your name carries weight in the NMS community. I would like to raise awareness that, Derelict Freighter Teleporters are completely bugged. Ran 10. Half with multiplayer ON, half with it OFF. Can't teleport to the start after finishing the run and 'activating' the teleporters. No green light. No ease-of-access back to ship. and also... I would like to raise awareness that I ran 10 Derelict Freighters and received ZERO salvage frigate modules and ZERO quicksilver. This is the best videogame I have ever played in my life but this will stop me for a bit as I feel my whole experience is bugged, inefficient, and incapable of giving me the intended/desired results.

Had the same thing happen on a derelict. None of the teleporters sent me back to the entrance, just bounced me around amongst them. Took me ages to find my way out.

I feel you. I lucked out and was in the middle of a 28 hour mission just before the most recent update and got my Dream Aerial when I logged on and started collecting their rewards. I check my frigates and deploy them every day I log on and I usually get 24+ hour missions about twice per week. Hopefully you get yours soon.

I tried to get the same living frigate from a system. I really like the first one I got, so I tried to get 2 more from the same system. They showed up with the anomaly detector and dream aerial. It let me buy them, it took my money, but they never showed up in my fleet. I went to a new system and was able to buy a new one, that one did show up in my fleet. I don't know if that's a bug, and if it's being fixed with the patch that's coming soon, but as of now you cannot get more than 1 per system.

I encountered the same thing. In fact the second and third frigate had the same name as the original that I found and I spent $200 Million each, so hopefully HG will fix this. It's almost certainly a bug.

Somebody told me it's not a bug. They said you can't have multiple frigates with identical names, stats, etc, so the game is working as intended. I certainly hope that's not true. I can change the name and re-roll the stats by feeding it.

Surely, if the design of the frigate is procedurally generated, the name and starting stats should also be able to be procedurally generated.

Took a little longer than the video but after 20ish minutes of pulsing (to get my 2nd living frigate) I got a megafauna detected, warped to another system and got my 3rd within 5 minutes of pulsing. Think it is simply a matter of RNG before you come across one.

I haven't acquired any of the new living frigates yet, but when I send the Leviathan on missions, sometimes it comes back with upgrades for my Living Ship (the personal craft you get from the quest). I'm guessing the same can happen with the newly available ones too.

Yes, I believe they tied it to the Dream Aerial, so instead of being an Expedition reward, you needs to use the Pulse Engine and have a crafted Dream Aerial, once you use one, you'll need a fresh one after, sadly you can't craft just one and get multiple Living Frigates with the Dream Aerial. (EDIT: I was mistaken, after getting your first one, they will randomly appear as a Pulse Engine Anomaly, so they'll randomly spawn when you used the Pulse Engine, unless you use the Anomaly Detector to increase your chances.) Sorry I got off track, you need the Dream Aerial, this and a couple other videos show how to do it, and mention nothing of Expedition. Hope this helps.

A player’s character can have a maximum of 30 vessels in its fleet, including the Normandy and Leviathan expedition rewards. So you can either have 30 regular frigates OR 30 living frigates OR 30 regular and living frigates combined. If you wish to include the Normandy and/or Leviathan you can recruit 29 or 28 more vessels. If you already have a full fleet you will have to dismiss at least one frigate to get the Dream Aerial living frigate. You’ll have to dismiss additional vessels if you want to expand your existing full fleet with more living frigates.

@@nuclearcandy3290 i got all that already. I did some experimenting, the issue i was having wasnt with my fleet pr the frigate. It was the location. I was in an unpopulated system with no space station. You cant talk to the frigate in those systems because the game doesn't think any npc ships are around because technically they shouldn't be around. I went to a populated system and everything was fine, so dont go to unpopulated systems looking for a living frigate

So I didn't realize you had to hit Begin Scan on the detector and was pulsing around for awhile before I realized I wasn't finding anything lol. Edit: On my second use of one of the anomaly detectors it took me 26 discoveries before the living frigate appeared. It was an S Class Combat one that only cost 57mil so I'm guessing they have reduced the price greatly since this video lol.

Yes, when someone gives you the Dream Aerial, you will not learn the Blueprint. Still, You do not need to. Not all systems will have a living frigate, and sometimes it can take a real long time before they trigger. The best way is to make sure you have saved before you activate the Anomaly Beacon. Then try it out in one system, if it does not trigger an event, reload and try another system.

Be sure to place the Dream Aerial in your Exosuit inventory, jump into your ship. Then Activate the Dream Aerial and start pulsing. It should work similar as for finding derelict freighters.
