Warning: upscaling can completely destroy your ability to see enemy aircraft. To help users test the impact of various graphics settings specifically on aircraft visibility, I made a mission and posted it on the official DCS site's user files. It is a mission file called "DCS World Spotting Test". Please note that you cannot test visibility with the game paused. You need the game to be in motion to truly appreciate just how TAA completely wipes out your ability to see anything.

My main issue is in vr. Whenever spike in fps happens, half of the screen has pixels lagging around. It still holds a solid fps, though.

Damn my system is close to yours (5600X, 32GB ram and a 6800, DCS on Gen4 NVME @ 1440p) If I try those settings especially SSAO and SSLR I will get less than 30fps in MP for sure! I Need to play around with some settings I think

@@wildweasel2707 1440p is probably where your getting less frames than me. I play at 1080p so I'm able to play at higher settings due to the lower resolution.

Im getting MUCH better FPS from DCS world than from MSFS now that DCS has Multithreading. I wonder if the 2024 version of MSFS has or will have Multithreading?

Dcs as a whole is brokenly unoptimized. I’ve spent weeks of my life trying to fix the sim. The actual fixes? Use a free tool like process lasso to set a permanent cpu affinity to disable core 0 for the cpu and then to also set a permanent process priority of high for DCS. If you have a new intel cpu, disabling e-cores via bios is also something to try. You don’t need to launch into DCS to change settings. Use the new launcher, set your settings then launch it. Most system settings when changed within DCS require a restart of the game. Don’t set exact settings shown to you by anyone as your hardware composition may differ. If you’re a flatscreen flyer, use the medium preset along with anything I’ve listed above or below and tweak your settings bit by bit over time. For VR USERS, use the VR preset. Go to the VR settings and set pixel density to 1.0. Then try all of the steps below as well adjusting settings up or down as you go to fine tune the look and feel of your experience. Don’t turn on vsync if you have a monitor that uses AMD or Nvidia variable refresh rate tech. For Nvidia it’s called Gsync and that is enabled in the Nvidia control panel. Enabling vsync in any game when you have a gsync monitor causes more frame time issues and actual visible tearing of pixels. Leave vsync off. In Nvidia control panel, make sure that power management is set to prefer maximum performance. If you’re a VR user, set pre-rendered frames to 3. In windows defender, you can exclude the saved games folders and your Eagle dynamics folder wherever you installed it. This allows your system to bypass constantly scanning those folders which can cause issue. Don’t use DLSS if you’re using an nvida gpu. Use DLAA. No smearing and more consistent frame times. DLSS has issues that result in stuttering in many games including DCS. Have more than 16gb of system memory. 64gb is ideal. Set a custom page file that matches your system memory. Rule of thumb is to multiply 1024 by the amount of RAM. This page file lets your system swap things into memory quicker. It is recommended to set it on whatever your fastest drive is. Modern SSDs have a very high write endurance near or in excess of 400tb of write before anything could even show signs of failure.

The biggest and most debated fix on the forums is the custom page file. It shouldn’t be needed, but it works and makes a massive difference which means that DCS has an issue with clearing memory as things aren’t needed or it still isn’t using the CPU properly or efficiently.

Just remember the F-14B textures have up to 400 MB each one compressed. Now imagine like 10 F-14's in multiplayer, each one with different livery and you need 10GB of memory only to be able to show all liveries.

the major performance update in DCS are: 1. updating to 9900K CPU in 2019. this CPU is out-performed by many new cheap 6-core CPUs. 2. updating to a 8GB VRAM RTX 3060Ti in 2021. this update makes it possible for me to play DCS in 4K. 3. updating to 32GB ram. this almost annihilated most of the DCS stutters. 4. install DCS on SSD. just do it. 5. The DCS multi-threading update.

I got better frame rates in VR by my pc rendering DCS in windowed mode at the lowest resolution.

You have forgot the most important thing to do. For all owners of 12th gen or higher gen Intel CPUs is very important to manually disable core parking. Always set FPS limit as close to 99% FPS value as possible or lower. With fast enough drive the preload radius over 60 000 is useless. Set it to 60 000 or lower to free some memory.

I have an OMEN gaming laptop, Intel Core I7, NVIDIA GeForce GTX. I purchased 1 TB SSD to download DCS and it works downloading files. Took a long time but I finally got some flight time in as a beginner. What intrigue me more playing DCS is connecting the Woojer Vest to DCS feeling all the vibration mirroring a fighter pilot vibrations in the cockpit. I am proud of my accomplishments investing in flight gaming equipment, becoming my own computer tech from home. I am also using Thrustmaster A-10 Flight controls with difficulty functioning features button in DCS settings. Once in a while I go into settings check the defaults, change some settings from keyboard to Thrustmaster key functions is not allowing me to make changes. I guess I have to give it time until I receive some tips. It is a math equation to problem solving ex. 1 + 1 = 2 analogy.

J"ai pas compris si c'est des réglages que pour la VR....car dans le cas contraire ce sont des réglages assez absurdes. Je ne recommande pas de suivre les réglages de cette vidéo qui sont déconcertants. On a pas d'infos sur les FPS de l'écran pour la limite des FPS, pour un PC avec 175fps veuillez mettre les FPS maximum à 170Fps, tjrs légèrement en dessous. La fumée cheminé vous devez la encore ne pas la laisser a zero, c'est 4 ou 5. SSAO et SSLR sur Off...a moins d'avoir un PC ultra-performant. Et veuillez utiliser de DLSS ....surtout si vous avez un PC pas ultra haut de gamme. Et préload radius si vous avez un vieux disque sata veuillez le mettre a plus de la moitié, si vous avez un SSD veuillez le régler sur 20% c'est suffisant, DCS charge rapidement sur un SSD. Donc pour moi je déconseille les réglages de cette vidéo. Ou c'est pour de la VR mais la encore y'a plein de trucs absurde.

@@KuroHebi 🤷‍♂️ just somehow does. I think it may be do to the fact that as you're flying by. That bluring the shadows and textures it becomes less intense on the CPU.

It’s a false positive feeling. Motion blur is smoothing the frames between frames when there is motion. Specifically head motion. DCS is really odd in that moving your head quickly while motion blur is on, it will display an increase in frames per second but what you perceive is placebo because motion blur is smoothing the jank between the frames.

No. It does not. In fact the motion blur lowers FPS a lot. It only makes picture look more fluid.
