Very dope. The long reverb time works well for this slow tempo... but it can also work well with a faster tempo track, and that is achieved by automating the tail down. This way you get the huge verb effect via long decay time and also not clog your mix with the tail. You can hear this method on Sicko Mode.

Bro!! Thanks so much for this video! I greatly appreciate your approach to teaching these skills: that you appear to be prepared in just about every aspect of your presentation and that you don't waste time like most of other KZbin "engineers" who appear to be "shooting-from-the-hip", causing hungry viewers/learners like me much pain as they "ad-lib" to convey technical concepts. Speaking of which, thanks also for having an excellent balance of presenting the technical and creative, not being afraid to use technical terms relevant to the creative process in your teaching. Yep, I'm taking in all of your videos to catch up to today's standard of musical production!😀

You just get more control on an aux with time based effects. Like maybe if it gets too muddy later in the mix you can EQ it. Or you want to put a delay to that verb on that adlib. Or use that verb on another track. Shit you open two reverbs now your using twice the DSP for no reason.

One question when you do the ad-libs are you supposed to lower down the adlibs with the fader or are you supposed to trim it ?
@moyo20585 жыл бұрын
So if I have my main vocals mixed and clean, and I just add eq and reverb to my unmixed adlibs, it wouldn't sound off? I always assumed you had to mix the adlibs like you would the rest of the vocals and THEN add a telephone eq, fx, etc.
@whosbruno88165 жыл бұрын
Well, if u were to duplicate the settings from your lead vocal chain, the adlibs would typically be too sharp and it would jus make the mix too muddy
@hoodrelatedl.c.d.42975 жыл бұрын
Is there a video out there explaining this?
@whosbruno88165 жыл бұрын
HoodRelated L.C.D. Not that I’m aware of, but for me I find that panning the backing track / adlibs helps a lot, it doesn’t sit right on top or below the main, so it definitely helps. Unless you have time between your next line to fit the adlib by itself, I would pan left or right

@Levon7776146 жыл бұрын
probably wouldn't matter, adding to a bus or the track would make the same effect. if you're doing it on an FX channel then it makes a big difference. In this he's doing on the original track, but you can do it on a bus as well if for any reason you'd need to. (IK this is old but there's probably people seeing this and wondering the same thing)
@THETROUBLEMAKERSGANG6 жыл бұрын
how do you get that deep voice
@Levon7776146 жыл бұрын
It's just a transpose, right click the track or open the region inspector, it'll show there. Just put it on a negative effect (Like -5). I use Studio One 4, but in there I have to change the "Timestretch" from Solo to Drums in order to get that actual effect.
