I been makin music for about 2.5 years now, take my production quality very seriously. I've watched probably every video on KZbin for how to get clear vocals, and this is by far the most effective, and big respect for the creativity too. I'm not even all the way done w the video yet, and this method has my vocals cuttin thru the mix insane, can't believe hm clearer it is. I also now can't believe that I used to think that what I was doing before made them cut through sufficiently lol... I know I'm like 3 years late but thank you a ton lmao u da goat bro

This is such an amazing trick!! I had a “problem” in my mix, in that I had mixed from the bass up, and I didn’t have a good high frequency response from anything. In the PAZ-Freq meter everything above 10 was non-existent. This technique and setting worked to really control the high end and mix it in easily, with some modifications of the plugin settings for the tracks (Gtr bass and vocals), to bring it all together. So fucking brilliant of an idea!! Many thanks for sharing!

just a friendly tip if you might not know...get your hands on izotope ozone 8 and start working with the tonal balance control vst it offers...it's a tool where it gives you referrence points to where your levels from low to low mid to high mid and high should be sitting at...revolutionary stuff...it's a visual aid tool to see where your frequencies lie in the mix or master...especially on the low end it has a meter telling you if the signal is over compressed or needs more compression...have your song radio ready for real without second opinions

@@lanway95 So maybe I get something wrong right here. So I assume the vocal goes through a usual fx channel and then sends the vocal to another bus before meeting the initial vocal signal in the master. So if this is this is the case, do I process the main vocal or just the sent one? My assumption could be wrong and the signal splits before even going in a channel, so I can individually process both. Another reply was much appreciated! Thank you already!

Excellent advice and insight, Devvon. I've been at this for quite a while, but always keep my ears open as the industry has changed with just the augmentation of users and musicians vying for convenience with better access. Although I'm no Soup Nazi, I generally follow the "purest recording possible" mantra (think, Cormega, "The Realness" vocals), foregoing molesting vocals beyond focus and [normal corrective processing of plosives and sibs]. You, however, have presented quite an idea to my approach that I can't deny is intriguing and deserves my attention. Thanks!

You could achieve pretty much the same end by using multiband compression... All you're really doing is adding EQ over EQ and deessing it...

I think it's particular and more versatile. the MB won't easily let you plug a delay in one band.

Maybe he just wanted to blend a bit of it instead of overcompressing the original signal.

Nice job Devvon! That technique is called EQ splitting. You can use that all over your tracks. Especially nice on piano and piano samples (1970's Elton John technique) and if you shift the bands you can fine tune your kicks bass, and guitars. Use tastefully. Or even automate the fader blends to fit the different sections of your songs or even change the energy within the section. Keep making videos for you and your fans, so the world can have better music and mixes. And release your tracks. People want to hear them.

Thanks man for the amazing tip! My production has been improving a lot but I keep noticing how my vocals lacked that “brightness” to it. Now my production is gonna get even better! Keep coming with these videos man!

I came down to the comment section so I could tell you that you need to drop this track, but it looks like everybody beat me to it lol. That shit is fire already. We need artists like you to show people that skill will always trump auto tune!
