That was beautiful. I listened to this prior to attending Mass. It was so helpful. I am going to listen to it again and again prior to attending Mass until these practices become a part of my bones. Thank you Father. My prayers for you and your ministry will be ongoing.

Thank you, Fr. Columba, for this and all the other "Little by Little" videos! Personally, I found that knowing more about the Mass itself and its various parts, helped me to participate more actively and consciously into it. For example, when we sang "Holy, Holy, Holy..." visualizing the opening of the sky and the connection between the Heavens and earth; when we sang/say the "Great Amen", firmly recognize and acknowledge mentally that bread and wine are becoming the Body and the Blood of Our Lord, right in that moment and that that's one of great mysteries; or when the priest proclaim the words of the Last Supper, bow my head and close my eyes to avoid getting visually distracted and just take in the words as Jesus was actually pronouncing them right there.

One of the things I love most about that time after receiving the Eucharist is watching everyone walk back from the altar, and seeing them transformed. They always look so beautiful: it's like we all go up in our ordinary state, with all our flaws on show, and when we receive Christ in the Holy Eucharist we are changed by His presence within us. another good one, Father.

During lockdown, I watched Bishop John Keenan Masses, he's a true shepherd, he realised how much people were hurting by not receiving Holy Communion so instead of the usual spiritual Communion, he came right up to the camera and held the Eucharist close to the camera and said the prayer, 'Lord Jesus, I wish to receive you with the purity, humility and devotion in which your mother Mary received you and with the spirit and fervour of the saints'. He would then say, ' the body of Christ'. Such a true shepherd, Bishop Keenan from Scotland, he still does online Masses on his Facebook page and rosary. I will be forever grateful to him. I still say this prayer now at Mass before I receive Holy Communion 🙏

I love "conversational acts of faith".. Some days I've done Mass and all the Hours, then without thinking much address some comment or question to the Lord kind of like how the long married might do sitting in their living room chairs.. and suddenly feel the smile on His face.. so nice! but I think the liturgical prayer lays the way for the more personal.. Tnx Fr C. from Monterey California....

Hi Peggy, thank you so much for your comment. Are you referring to receiving the Eucharist at Mass? A great way to prepare for this is to receive Confession before hand. Fr Columba did a video on getting more out of the Mass which might be helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZKteoyap51kZq8

A great talk as usual,thanks for all your time,I learn so much by watching may God continue to bless u fr and keep up the videos.i pray among other prayers the chaplet of st Michael witch promises an angle off each off the 9 choirs off angles to accompany you at mass when receiving the eucharistic.i do this because I know no matter how much I thank God Its impossible for me to thank or praze him properly for what I am receiving so I always ask God to allow the angles that are promised to accompany me to give God the praise,honer and thanks on my behalf that I could never fadom to do in this life,and off corse I do praise and thank him I just know he deserves so much more.i hope this helps with my reference when receiving. God bless

Do the Eucharistic prayer III from Marty Haugen. God will give you a lot of graces, when I engaged deeply in this prayer song, I could feel the Lord in my heart and heard His sweet precious voice. This is one powerful prayer song. You can do every morning if you want to. It will prepare you for mass when you go to Church.

I’m divorced. I find I’m often in fear at Mass, I’m a bad sinful man. I think I love God, but I’m not even sure I know what that means. I don’t receive most of the time unless I had the chance to go to confession. Even then I’m not sure.

Pay less attention to the people that came in late ( 6 minutes and 53 seconds! lol ) and walked all the way to the second row from the front. Yup....not paying attention to that should help me get more out of Mass. Have a great day all.

My response after Mass is "Thank you for the Mass, Father." This is what separates Catholicism from other religions; at the Mass, something actually happens, and I literally can't do it. I am privileged to be able to be present as the Priest makes the Sacrament available so he can offer it to God on behalf of myself and the world. I don't think we can actually "get more" out of Mass; we already receive everything there. Perhaps what we can do is actualize more of the received graces
@ctmcatholic Жыл бұрын
Agree with you on all of that. That’s what Fr Columba is saying. The graces received can be increased by our attitude towards the Mass.

Do we really need to go to confession before we receive the Eucharist? Thanks
@ctmcatholic2 жыл бұрын
Hi James, we must be in a state of grave (that is, cannot be in a state of mortal sin) when receiving the Eucharist. Here is a great article on why: www.catholic.com/tract/who-can-receive-communion We highly recommend frequent confession either way. Once per week or every two weeks.

Hey Father (and is it Katie?), I've just started receiving Communion again and am grateful and even excited about Mass but in daily life I'm still an angry person. I judge a lot, raise my voice, insult with sarcastic remarks. I can be really toxic even right after times I pray intimately or get "moved" by thoughts of loving. I tell myself I'll try better and be wiser but after awhile, I just blow-up again. I need to do something different. I hope you'll consider doing a video on this topic.

Thank you for adding this encouragement, Chris. It’s so important that we encourage and pray for each other. We’re all trying to do the same thing here - get to Heaven and bring as many with us as possible. It’s great to walk that journey together. And fair point re the comments, thankfully the KZbin Studio app makes it much easier to reply to comments these days, no matter which video they’re under. Thanks again and God bless!
