Loved the sound of supercharger whine since my first supercharged car, an 02 Mini Cooper S when I was a teenager. Now that I'm an adult I have adult money to buy a Supercharged Jag, and an early-mid 2010s XFR is on the list of options!

@@Crixxtachi868 and damn as long as none of these issues are like the theft lock issue on my dad Cadillac. He has a nice SRX that he can’t even drive because the ecu locks the whole car up everytime he drives like 2 miles. I spent 1,500 of my own cash trying to fix it for him at the dealer and they sent it back twice saying it was good to go. It’s a lemon at this point

That extra noise is sexy! I've an XF R-S and rarely hear the whine, my OH's RangeRover 4.2 SC (ancient but great) sounds way better for whine. How did you go about the MAF side of things?

I'm pretty sure you don't need MAF adaptors for the facelift, the MAF isn't integrated to the intake box

I was using 5w20, if you're usually below freezing then go 0w20... I don't think 40 suitable for this engine

So, when you start the car for lets say the first 10 sec before you start to rev is where I am concerned for my jag and maybe yours. I can hear the injectors firing off, which is ok, but theres another distinct noise that follows the rpms. Its like a bad pulley, or a belt tensioner or something... I have the same engine sound (non S/C though) and that sound gets more apparent when the car is colder, once it warms up properly it almost nearly goes away, but you can hear it on Idle faintly.. I'm not sure how to describe the sound.. its really apparent when it settles down a bit since the revs from the initial start are settling down and can be heard on 0:05 - 0:08... Its not a rattle,maybe sounds like pulley whine.. Or maybe its just the way these engines are.. WHERE AND WHY DOES IT MAKE THAT SOUND... :/
@ReLCorsa
@ReLCorsa 2 жыл бұрын
On the 5.0 engines that sound is usually caused by the slight slack in the timing chains due to less pressure from the tensioners. It builds pressure as the engine runs which is why it slowly goes away as the car warms up, not really an issue unless the tick turns more into a slapping noise as that's a sign of tensioner failure and you're getting too much slack and the chain is actually hitting the case. I had the same worry when I first got my XJ Supercharged and thought it had an issue; some digging brought me to the forums where they discussed the cause and that it's pretty normal especially if you have one of the earlier 5.0s without the revised tensioners

@@kevinc4325 yeah ive heard that everywhere but i also heard if you install the cold air intake you have to remap the engine on a dyno. I got a jaguar xf supercharged and just recently straight piped it and will probably soon upgrade the upper supercharger pully. A cold air intake was on the list but i really dont have the extra cash for a professional dyno tune at the moment. Plus i got to save cash in case of a issue with them coolant lines.

@@JeffMcDuffie72MeridianGate the air cannot be cold with this air intake because if you want real cold air you need BMC with pipe or OEM but you loose again the sound so it's compromise, I loose few horse power on my Jag but for sure I love the supercharged sound, so many video on dyno on many different car it's not surprise anymore
