I’m glad somebody has done a new review of the Jaguar XFR-S… I felt in love with the car many years ago and just nearly 2 years ago I finally bought one, a 2014 Jaguar XFR-S black. They actually increased in value, and ownership cost was low. Yes, the breaks are rubbish. Swapped the pads and disks for some Tarox, which made a big difference. As for the supercharge, I did the exact thing and changed the corns so I can hear the supercharger. The exhaust, I did the x-pipe and changed the back boxes… and tbh I just love it more then stock because it’s louder. Stock exhaust doesn’t do justice for the car engine. MP4S are much better then the stock Pirelli by a lot, so I would suggest anyone who has one to change them. Overall, it’s a special car. Catches eyes always, more then a M5 from the same time period. If it wasn’t for the spoiler, not many people would look at the car.

How has that engine and transmission held up....any issues?
@seancassidy19652 жыл бұрын
@@allosaurusfragilis7782 Hi, the Engine and Transmission have been great. The engine leads a relatively low-stress life in normal driving thanks to the fantastic ZF 8 speed which is quick to change (it has the Quick-shift software from the F-Type R) and is long-legged (90mph is only 1,750 revs in 8th) so fuel economy is surprisingly good for such a car. My car has done 46,500 miles from new and has only had 2 faults - at it’s Year One service the dealer spotted that the differential had a small oil leak which they fixed under warranty and then at about 2 years old one of the rear parking sensors failed (again fixed under warranty).

@@seancassidy1965 thx for that. Yh if you look after it, I don't see why it would be any more unreliable than a bmw or merc. I've only had one jag and I suppose it was all 3 but it was old, with an even bigger engine...the 5.3 V12. Not as powerful of course. But it was great to drive and everyone who got in it loved it. Very accurate review. I love my Kaynite Blue XFR - people are always surprised to learn it’s not a new car. The price I picked it up for just before the pandemic is also hard to believe. I think mine still qualifies as a sleeper - there is no way an XFR-S could be a sleeper. I’d be tempted to upgrade, but it is already rare to find an opportunity to go wide open for more than a few seconds. I had the same coolant leak issue as the car you reviewed, but other than that it has been solid. I agree it it too small on the inside for it’s exterior size. I’m in it by myself 90% of the time so it doesn’t usually matter, but it’s bad that if I go to lunch with three co-workers, we ride in one of the other guy’s Nissan Versa hatchback. I don’t think I could find a car that fits me better, with this performance level, in anywhere near the price range. I expect I’ll hold onto mine for a while.

@MathsYknow2 жыл бұрын
I agree, the rear end looks good despite the weird black C pillars. I don't like the front end as much, mostly due to the mismatch between the tallish, upright-ish grille and the low, sleek headlights, with the grille contour being further emphasised by the bonnet shut line running around it. If they extended the bonnet all the way to the grille or just didn't have the shut line follow the grille contour, it wouldn't look as awkward. This stands out the most to me on light-coloured cars (where the shut line / panel gap is most prominent) or perhaps if the front bumper paint isn't perfectly matched to the bonnet. Maybe I'm crazy.

The XJR is a great car, I like the rear end, but it's much softer than an XFR-S, the only comparison is the XJR575 but they are more money. The XKR-S is a great car, it's biggest downfall for me is the earlier infotainment (slower) and the 6-speed box, which isn't as nice or fast as the XFR-S, plus the missing rear seats. That said, I wouldn't have the XFR-S either, well not the saloon ;) I would go for the XFR-S Sportbrake and I did, one of the 61 cars Jaguar made. I love it. As a car enthusiast, there is one point that is never talked about by youtubers and that is the issue of restrictions on ICE vehicles. Here in Spain, it is a matter of time before most cities impose significant restrictions on ICE vehicles, especially those Euro5 or older. It seems to me that the prices of "collection" vehicles that do not come into the category of classics (more than 25 years old, a whole bureaucratic process and a series of restrictions regarding the km you can travel per year) will see their price drop and most will end up being scrapped or exported outside the EU.

The orange peel paint finish at 1:26 tells me I will stick with my M5 thank you.
@bigmatt28965 күн бұрын
ok mate, we will stick with our peel like paint finish and let you keep your poor poor crank bearing tolerances

Beside the Rear Wing it is indeed a very nice car. Why the hell they felt the need to destroy the lines with a useless Wing. A little lip would do the same job and keep the elegance you would expect from a Jaguar. Otherwise - a really cool car and a great review.

You could order it without the wing.

An observation. 68% reduction in lift on front and rear equates to stability of downforce front and rear. Source - Ian Callum in a KZbin clip when the XFR-S was first introduced into the USA market. Video here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqe1pn9maMqEnacfeature=shared

I do love my XFR, but I do have one issue with it: The rear. I do prefer the look of the XJ over that of the XF. Squint at the rear of a XF (X250) and tell me the tail lights and chrome bits don't look like they hail from a Ford Mondeo (Fusion). The XJ rear is uniquely and undeniably Jaaaaaaaaaag.

Having owned a Mondeo ST for 7 years before my Jaguar XF S. i can say it looks nothing like a mondeo.

What's wrong with the Meridian Surround system?

Awesome car but the brakes are inexcusable, even the Australian performance cars had Brembo or AP calipers and they were half the price!

The XJ is an incredible car.

All you need now is a Mina gallery so the supercharger can breath more freely and an SVR exhaust to justify the bonkers v8. 600+HP as standard. Then you have your own project 8!

What? How do you not like the looks of an XJ? I think you need to take a trip to Barnard castle.

The X351 - you really like the looks of the X351?

Something feels so wrong about a Jag saloon with a massive spoiler. They might have gone with something less gaudy like a subtle lip spoiler or something.
@rv99902 жыл бұрын
Exactly. First thing i would do is swap a booth from a normal XF on it.

I really dislike the rear diffuser. Where to put the trailer hitch?
@amaiel2 жыл бұрын
Electronic trailer hitch that pops out from underneath, many cars have it
