Not to be that guy, but the flutter you hear is compressor surge which is technically bad. It's air slamming back into the turbine. The blow off valves don't flutter when vacuum reaches a high enough negative psi to open the valves. Vacuum doesn't work that way. The reason you hear flutter with the spring change he did is because the valves aren't opening when he's under minor load and letting off. The vacuum isn't enough to open the valves.

@@lowlifemax Yes it is. Blow off valves don't flutter. They can't. And compressor surge won't happen under load either. It's off throttle when the throttle plates are closed or partially open, the valve springs aren't open for the blow off valves, so the only place for the air in the system to go is to be chopped by the turbo compressor wheel. Hence the flutter. Actually read my comment and actually understand vacuum in a ICE motor then come back. Edit: The springs aren't opening the BOV because of the vacuum rating. There's a defferential between the minor psi of around 3psi to off throttle to where the springs aren't opening because vacuum isn't hitting the threshold of the -11psi his springs are rated for. The load isn't substantial enough for the vacuum to drop low enough, fast enough to activate the springs inside the BOV.

1:18 that's not what turbo flutter works. Flutter is when air goes the wrong way through the intake pipe and ricochets off the inside of the intake pipe

Yes, a lot of older cars with turbos don't even have a Bypass valve or blow off valve. Those are typically the cars you hear with tons of flutter. Like old rally cars.

How do I know what springs to get or how stuff they are?

You get the appropriate spring for whatever vacuum your car pulls at warm idle. If you have a GTR like this, it's around -10.8 psi so you would need a -11psi yellow spring. Or whatever car you have you get the appropriate color spring for the Tial according to your vacuum reading.

Technically yes and no. The springs made it so the valves aren't opening up as often because they are a lower vacuum rating. The valves staying closed is keeping the air trapped and the turbos make the flutter. Almost every turbo car will flutter if you don't have a Bypass valve or blow off valve.

Just don’t run a BOV. You don’t make near enough power to spool and surge at the same time. You don’t need a blow off valve. And a tune has nothing at all to do with bov. You don’t even think about a bov when you tune a car. Like I said you really don’t even need them. It’s literally just something to make the car sound cool and give that high pitch whistle sound. I have around 700hp in my s2000 and I don’t run a blowoff valve, I’ve had this build for 5 years now. And ur crackle tune I bet your timing is set to -15 on decel with no fuel added. It’s why you can actuate it with ur foot. It’s a lot safer than adding fuel and shooting flames and blowing up ur manifold. Again, you do not need the blowoff valves at all. The car sounds better with flutter. When you add the heavier spring ur essentially not running a bov anyways bc it’s too strong of a spring to open the valve on boost. Just take them off
