I live in a small town and I have never hear or seen anyone skating. So whenever I'm out skating I feel so insecure and it's hard to convince myself to go out and practice. It also doesn't help when there is a bad connotation with skateboarding, "oh that guy is a disrespectful punk since he's skateboarding"

My mate has so much motivation for skating. He kick flipped over a 3/4 foot ledge almost snapped his ankle and he go straight back up. He tried to 360 kick flip off of a smaller ledge about 1.5/2 foot and fell straight onto his face after almost snapping his ankle. He tried again and succeeded then tried the 4 foot ledge again and the board landed sticking up into his groin. He just got up lit up a joint then tried again. Seriously he was more bothered on landing that sing trick rather then his physical health. He is probably one of the best skaters I know

Daniel I am doing very well. I had incredible pains on my knees and ankles for the first month and a half and took some slams. I thought about giving up but didn't. The pains are gone and I am olliying and 180ing. Working on my kick and heelflips (I have not landed a rolling one yet) and I can't do a pop shove it or backside 180 for the life of me still. Having fun at skateparks with low transitions, learned to pump, rock to fakie, rocknroll and working on getting over the fear of dropping in. Today I will try to axle stall, although i always feel braver before going. All in all I am happy with my progress! Daniel, continue trying!! I am hooked, no matter what I can get done or can't. The exercise aspect of this sport is unbelievable as well... warm up though before skating!

@whmozart
@whmozart 7 жыл бұрын
It does get hard and painful and frustrating at a lot of times!! But the joy and the feeling you get when something finally works out is beyond comparison! I managed to do a noob 50-50 on a small transition ledge and just hearing those trucks grind is literally better than sex! Keep it up man, it's not about being an athletic genius (I am most definitely not) but it's about not quitting. If you hang on long enough you will get to the point you were aiming at for sure... even if it takes you months or years, who cares. What you're doing (rolling stopping, maybe trying to ollie) is the hardest step of them all, and the one that takes the longest. After that, it's one thing after another. But don't rush it.

oskqr Trust me, I can completely relate, but if its crowded at the skate park, just ease yoursslf into the flow of things and do what you usually would and you'd be surprised how small of a deal that was. Thats what I did and like 5 or 10 minutes later, others around me were trying to motivate me into landing a trick! I hope this helps you out and gets you excited to skate with others😊

In my opinion he shouldn't do that. You have to literally go around your town and find them because aaron can't relate if you live somewhere out of his area, my advice is to drive around or skate or even google map it! I heard there are even apps to find spots near you?

You're never too old to learn new things..When I was 14 I used to cruise around all the time on my board. Took me a long time to learn how to Ollie and that was the only trick I knew. Im 22 now and 4 months ago I stepped on a skateboard again after stumbling upon the Braille Skateboarding channel. I quickly progressed because I watched Aaron's videos over and over and Lance being close to my age inspired me to keep on learning.. So I just wanna say thank you Aaron & Lance. I wouldn't progress without this Channel. Keep up the good work. Thanks Braille Army

20 turning 21 and just got started into skateboarding. I always wanted to learn when i was younger and my parents bout me a walmart board in which within the first few days of having it the plastic trucks snapped in half and i never got another board (it had no grip tape either). so ive been skating now for about 5 days (maybe 4) and im just about comfortable with just cruising and quite enjoy it. Im not that fit or in any good physical condition so it wears me out a bit (im 200 lbs at 6ft, just chubby). but i can say i find it fun and enjoyable to just go to a empty abandoned parking lot and just cruise in it and just feel comfortable (the roads arent really the best theyre rough, and hardly any smooth sidewalks). ive been recently learning how to lift the front end with balance and learning how to ollie (figure id kill two birds with one stone eh?) so for all those peeps who are in their 20s just now starting to skateboard, just go for it. Its fun, relaxing and just all around enjoyable

That's awesome. I'm the same age and skating better than when I was in my terns/early 20s. The main thing you need in order to progress is a place where you can practice. Might seem obvious, but a big motivation factor is also whether you can just go out and session a local spot to practice whatever it is you're learning. Or just to get the feeling of riding for an hour or so. But it can be hard to stay motivated if you have to commute for more than an hour just to get somewhere skatable. You need a go-to spot where you can practice without being harassed.

I'm 18 and started skating back in December. I'm a northern Brit & weather has been terrible but I made a point in skating almost every single day. That means even when the ground was wet on my cruiser. It's fun just whizzing around & only my first week was sucky. Our local skate community is amazing. I was given a Birdhouse deck, wheels & trucks to practise tricks on since cruiser boards & popsicle boards really are a lot more different thant I anticipated. Progress has been slow, but I can firecracker off sidewalks, manual up small obstacles & I'm learning to manual properly. Earlier today I successfully push/pumped for a few minutes on a ramp for the first time. Progress stinks, but when it smacks you in the face with just how far you've come it's super rewarding. You'll never know you're progressing until you have one of them moments

Thanks for this video Aaron and Lance! I really needed it. I'm 25, and I just picked up skateboarding a couple months ago. Relating to what Lance said, it's hard not to put these enormous expectations on myself to land a trick instantly. Like, I've been trying to land basic shove its for a few weeks now, and its just not happening. My ollies are pretty week too. My first reaction is discouragement and blaming my strength and size, thinking "maybe I'm just no good at skateboarding and will never be"... but knowing that its something you gotta keep at everyday and that everyone experiences periods of failure before success makes me feel less discouraged.

I grew up in a family of skaters. I started skating at 6yrs old when their was no Internet no KZbin to watch no Aaron kyro or skate video's! But i'm 27yrs now and what gets me hyped is skating friends and watching skate video's before i go skate with friends! When you're younger you're not afraid but when you get to my age and you've had broken bones a bad knee and a bad back you get a little fear in what you're about to skate but i over come that and there is nothing worse that can happen to me just commit to the trick off this 10 stair or ledge and be confident about it. my parents told me that when i was younger

Started when I was a kid, had a horrendous fall and stopped for so many years. 26 now and starting back up again because I want to do it for me. I see kids doing heelflips and riding big bowls and it motivates me to go for it. If kids can do it, so can adults. Progressing well...

Wow, I honestly thought it was to late for me to start skateboarding and I just bought a Revive deck and I plan on getting really good, this actually really changed my whole opinion about it. I feel like I actually have a chance now. I originally got motivated by Lance because he was so old and I was thinking maybe it wasn't to late, but now I really know!

You are a trip and make me want to skate. But personally I enjoy longboarding more. Wish there was a way you could incorporate some longboard skills in your videos. I know they might not relate but you are an amazing teacher!

How long was it until you learned your first trick like a basic ollie from when started skating at all. After that did all the other tricks just flow easier?

Hey guys great video and it helped a lot. My question is, do you think it's a better to have a skating friend? Just like chris Chann said it adds a competitive aspect.

I started last year, i skate once a week, cant do any tricks yet, but Its so much fun, I hate when people stress so much on tricks, yes they are amazing once you know how to , but its all about fun, no one is judging you :)
