If a artist knows the streams are bots, then and only then should they be held countable by spotify, but if they dont know they are bots and are just trying to legally promote their talent then the ones creating the bots should be held accounable in court for destroying the career of such artist. I find it interesting. However, it still remains possible that any botted promotion could remain active even after the current 'deal' was made, and the due date, between the artist and promotional company. It wouldn't be too hard to set up an ongoing algorithm which will continue playing an artist's song, through various other "fans" playlists - in order to recuperate these streams. Which would mean that the stream count does seem to had gained some continuous traction after the playlist promotion has ended, however, this could still be done without authenticity. So that's what I wonder about. Which is also the selling point of your Spotify Playlist Promotion on your website. Unfortunately, there is no way for us to tell if this is true or not, that is, without complications. Hypothetically, an algorithmic promotion on one's Spotify song after the specified due date was up (being in a playlist), could slowly continue for months. I'd guess 6 months to be an approximate time frame to slowly deduct these numbers back down to a minimum - to which the artist was actually receiving. What do you think about this? Cheers, Cody

Hey man, great content, just had a question about bot playlists. If you suspect you’ve been added to a bot playlist, how do you get off of it, or, in other words, how do you get your song and account unaffiliated with that playlist? thanks man

The only way is to contact the playlist owner and ask. Sometimes they aren't easy to get ahold of. When this happened to my friend, there wasn't any way that we could figure out at the time. The way the story went is that one day we looked at his analytics and we were like... "what the heck is happening with all these plays??" The red flag was that every single day there was the same exact number of plays on the song day after day after day..... There was really nothing we could do. But fortunately, Spotify is working day and night to remove these playlists and the account holders so in the near future this shouldn't be an issue anymore.

@@volsi2087 Good question: Avoid using anyone who reaches out to you selling cheap plays. Marketing to real people has a real cost. Second, only work with people who can prove that their playlists are built organically. Anyone who has a large variety of playlists with the same amount of followers per playlist definitely manufactured those in order to sell placements. It's really unrealistic to be able to build 5 playlists in 5 different genres all with ~ 500,000 followers. Does that make sense?

Apparently someone playing your songs on repeat can get your songs taken down as well. Thats what our destributor told us. Whats to stop someone from doing this out of spite? Artists cant control what their fans do. We got our songs taken down for artificial streams but we did not intentionally do this at all.

If I am wanting to promote and release an important Single and it is my very First release will I be able to set up my profile and log into my 'Spodify for Artists' dashboard during the 2-5 day wait for the release to go up? I have heard that one cannot access either of those until you have already released music? If that is the case do you recommend I release a different (less important) song in advance of my single in order to set things up properly and access the Spodify for Artist (playlisting tool) for the more important single release? Hey great question! The way it works is that your song will get placed on a playlist with organic search traffic for 1-2 months. You'll probably get anywhere from 100 to 400 new listeners per day (depending on the playlist). If you get on a more popular playlist with higher search volume, then you'll get to 10,000 streams within a month's time easily! If you are on a newer, less popular playlist, the influencer will keep you there longer and even add you on a second or third playlist to get you to the 10,000 streams that were promised! Let me know if that answers everything!

Your drop in followers is just a symptom/effect of their platform-wide cleanse. No artist was singled out when their followers dropped so you should be totally safe as long as you use legitimate promotion moving forward.

Hey Malik, thanks for your comment. I want to make sure you understand that anything that promises a specific playlist or genre or anything like that is against Spotify's terms of service. You can not pay to be on a playlist (this is what gets artists into a lot of trouble). Instead, that link is offering is a promotional package where we work with you to find the best opportunities with Spotify influencers and the guarantee is that we will do whatever it takes and continue to promote your music to influencers until we hit the guarantee of 5000 streams.
