Oh my gosh - a well maintained email list is the key! I just deleted 7,450 people from the Launch Letter last week to try to clean up our list!! It's so important to maintain that list. Hi Julie, LOVE your videos! I know how much work goes into them and I appreciate it. My manuscript is complete (minus the epilogue). My sticking point for promotion has to do with my book’s content. It’s a memoir and has adult and sensitive subject matter like educator abuse, trauma, grief. It feels odd promoting a difficult story like this one. Do you have any advice? Thank you for your help.

Hi Megan - I always go back to the reader and think about how they must be feeling right now when they don't know a book like yours exists. Tell them about your book is the very thing they need to not feel alone ... That said, I think it's important to let people know that some material could be triggering. That will help you identify the promotional opportunities and the ones that will not respond well to that material. We have done quite a few books with sensitive material and that approach works really well.

Promote what your book is NOT. It is not 'fluff'; it is a serious book with the courage to tackle a serious subject for people who are ready for real help.

Great video! How important is it to have a newsletter for someone with a social media presence where you can inform readers of updates on your platform and when there are platforms like Buy Me a Coffee where you can even monetize the info you provide?

I still think a newsletter is the most important thing any author can build. Social media and any other site out there can shut down, close your account, and otherwise take your access away. A newsletter you control. Even with KZbin, I am constantly inviting people to join my newsletter list. I even am giving my newest book away for free as a way to build my newsletter list vs letting everyone just be a connection on KZbin because you just never know what will happen with a site you don't own.

I believe we will see it before the year is done ... they miss out on a ton of sales by not offering it but more than that the volume of glitches we are seeing with presales on Ingram going into Amazon makes me feel like they are getting things set up for it. Who knows?! But I believe it's coming soon.
