@Burstimo5 жыл бұрын
Very much agreed. It's shocking how many artists are using them and how many companies offer it as a 'service'. I think the next step will be them removing user curated playlists entirely
@teamjoffery5 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately some companies are getting so powerful that they can afford not to pay any attention to peoples' complaints and do whatever they feel like. That being said: companies like Spotify and Amazon are what they are because people support them. Like most things, if the public collectively stopped using their service, they would lose power. The power is in the people- if they just use it.

@@Burstimo Just my two cents, I don't think every influencer who charges for a playlist is using fake streams. There are plenty of small playlisters who have great lists who are looking for revenue to promote their list. I prefer not to pay regardless but its good to understand.

While I 100% believe that this is most likely a case of fake streams - I think this video forgets to address a major factor: engagement. Not all playlists can boast the same engagement. A track of mine was recently placed on Fresh Finds Basement, Fresh Finds, and then a second track was posted to Bangers. Across the 3 playlists I was generating about 1% engagement from the playlists. (Total follower count of ~750k and total streams of about 10k). Conversely, I have a track placed on a medium sized playlist (4k followers) that averages about 10% engagement every week. I have developed a relationship with the curator and have seen the playlist grow organically from about 1k followers over the past 3 months so I know for a fact this engagement is legit. So I think while there are cases like this that are very obvious, I think you can also have cases where smaller playlists are generating equal streams, if not more than, large spotify playlsits. Love the videos you guys put out, but just thought this deserved a mention. Cheers!
@OtherwiseFine5 жыл бұрын
I also imagine you can spot fake streams in the "Audience" section of Spotify for artists when looking at the location / cities from where you are being played. If you are based in Seattle but all your streams are coming from a single city overseas - can bet its a clickfarm.

I'm not sure if this is the way to identify the fake ones - I am on a legit spotify playlist that my friend made (for free) and it has 7,242 Followers - and it generated me 11.3k Streams in ONE MONTH. The reason this playlist (and many others) generate A LOT of streams is because they only add 80-120 songs at a time, and are always fluctuating songs. Some of these bigger playlists have an INSANE amount of songs - so your song just won't be heard as much. There has to be a better way of detecting FAKE playlists.

Is it possible to submit an already uploaded song into a Spotify playlist? If it is, how?
@STATXMUSIC4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not. You can only submit one track per Album or EP and it has to be submitted before the songs release date. That’s why a lot of people are switching to releasing more singles because you can essentially submit every single for playlist consideration. But even then, you can only submit one single at a time. I’ve also heard it can take a week or two or even longer for them (Spotify) to review your submission track for playlist consideration, so make sure you upload your music to your distributor (like DistroKid) at least 3-4 weeks before your release date so you have the best possibly chance to get reviewed in time before your release.

Click on an artist that is on that playlist so you're taken to their artist profile. Then click 'About' and on the right there is 'Discovered On', which shows the playlists they're on that get them their most monthly listeners. Under each playlist it will say 'X LISTENERS' which is the number of monthly listeners the playlists is getting that artist. It will obviously be different for each artist, depending on their placement on the playlist, but you should be able to work out a rough figure.

I’m sorry, but I disagree with you so much. 1. Telling people everything that guarantee streams is fake, that’s false. Listening parties are the only real way to guarantee real streams purchased from a service. It’s a damn “listening party” thanks to the internet their are curators of worldwide listening parties and it’s compliant with Spotify TOS. 2. Telling people there are no real popular user generated playlist when there are user generated playlists genuinely just as popular, if not more than some official Spotify playlists. This is like saying Spotify can’t have more followers than us on IG because Spotify’s profile is newer than ours. See me point? Smh 3. I been reading your comments to people. It seems like you make videos without real research. If you did your research you would know that Spotify allows fake streams, they reached an agreement with big labels to just pay out less for these types of streams. So they won’t be getting rid of user generated playlists anytime soon. The fake streams, and the agreement to pay out less is more revenue for Spotify and its major label stock holders. As long as 1 account ain’t listening a crazy amount of times to the same some, bought streams are winning.

I have paid money for certain songs I released to be on paid playlists. I thought that if nobody like my song, I wouldn't get streams. Therefore, my song would either succeed or fail based on its merit. It didn't work that way. Instead, my song bobbed up and down on their list at random. I had days where I got only 100 streams and one day I got 3.4k in streams. But I learned it was bogus. It was suspicious to me that they could build such a large following from an ever-changing cadre of songs. Also, they seemed to have every genre ever conceived on it! Then I looked at my numbers. It made sense to see the most plays in LA and NYC, but often small towns would have just as many. There were hardly any from Atlanta while Ashburn had many more! Also, an artist needs to keep the economics in mind. A $60 playlist spot could generate 5 k streams in a month. The streamshare runs about $0.002 per play. That is only $10, and you are still in the red....

Paying for playlists is just a no no. It's against Spotify's terms and conditions and is basically payola

the real issue here is that to get your money's worth from the $10 you pay every month on spotify...you need to play at least 100 songs a day.
