Only thing Yamaha missed on the S.art guitars is there is not “1” of them that is made with flageolets in the top range. It would be so great for having a couple of sounds in the top couple og octaves. There is enough keys just in the standard 76key range to cover the most of the guitar range and maybe use transpose to get 2 octaves of flageolet samples

Hello from Denmark, yes the Yamaha keyboards have fantastic guitarsounds. For me I don't have the Genos but I loves my old Tyros 4, and because off your demonstrations off the Yamaha DGX 670 I get one off this, and play midi with the Tyros, but acoustic guitars I play on Tyros, the hammer graded keyboard on dgx is to heavyweights for the real sound/feelings. This two keyboards is fantastic together, the best combination in my musican life. THANKS 😮

Keyboards today (especially in the semi pro to pro level) need to have standard “guitar modes”. The technology is there, and I’m pretty sure Roland was using a form of this guitar mode with the G70. There’s no reason that modern keyboards can’t function like Guitar VST’s. It would even utilize chord recognition, which is already a key component of arranger keyboards. A proper guitar mode would allow more accurate strumming, and even keep finger picking within the proper parameters matching the real instrument. My suggestion to the OP of this vid and to others is be careful with body tap and string tap articulations. It’s a timing issue and I often see players using taps incorrectly.

As both a guitarist and keyboardist, with the greatest of respect I must take issue with some of your technique, in particular the 'rolling on to the chord' bit. It seems to me that when rolling onto the chord, you need to roll from the bass note upwards; that is to say, from the left hand up to the top of the right. On the video you seem to be playing still with a slightly pianistic technique, meaning that, to my ears, it does not yet sound like a real guitar. What I do, if this is any help, is to roll up then roll down, which replicates as much as possible the full strumming action employed by the guitarist. Even if you were picking the guitar rather than strumming, you would still tend to start with the bass note (classical music excepted, of course), and then pick the other fingers first, not start with the second or third note in the right hand and then add the bass in with the rest of the chord - it would sound weird on the guitar itself. I apologise for being long-winded and appearing critical, this video is still very interesting and can at the very least generate some fascinating debate. x

Have to admit to being a bit annoyed that you told us about the string slide & fret buzz, but you didn't tell us how you actually choose to use it as you're playing! It doesn't slide every sequence of notes, so you must do something when you want it to put the slide in. What is that 'thing' that you do? Is it after-touch? Is it pressure sensitivity? How do you do it?
@ePianoscouk
@ePianoscouk 5 ай бұрын
Hi @TuftyVFTA. I'm sorry for the oversight in my video. I had actually intended to delve into the specifics of the string slide and fret buzz effects but somehow managed to overlook it! The technology behind these incredibly realistic effects is called Super Articulation, available on the Genos keyboard and other high-end Yamaha models. It's quite fascinating because it's not just limited to guitar sounds. To achieve the slide or buzzing effect, there's no need for you to manually trigger anything. The keyboard is designed to detect when your sequence of notes or the velocity of your attack would benefit from a Super Articulation effect, adding it automatically for a more natural sound. It's quite clever and it does bring the guitars to life in a remarkable way. As a player, it's seamless; however, with a bit of practice, you can learn to control it more effectively, triggering it precisely when desired by playing notes in quick succession or with a bit more force. I'm planning to make a short video explaining this in more detail later this week on Instagram. Do follow me at @averagekeyboardguy for that update. Thank you so much for watching and for your support. I really appreciate it!

To play guitar realistically, you need to consider that fact that certain arpeggios should be played in a range of guitar's strings. Then you should play like "on guitar", but not like on piano with guitar sound. In other words, you need to imitate guitar technique with maximal precision.

I think your comment is out of context. I am 62 and played keyboard-pianos-guitars all my life too, however, this is a keyboard EMULATING the sounds LIKE a guitar and does a great job, ePianos do not say it sounds AS a guitar. The sounds on this keyboard are fantastic and as a keyboard it EMULATES sound, it is not a hammer struck piano or a plucked guitar, so I do not understand your criticisms.

doesn't sound that realistic to be honest. (you hear the sample effect, in terms of attack, or exact same "slide" effects, which a real guitar player doesn't do) You also play many notes at the same time, which is hardly ever done on strumming guitar playing
