Hands are a dead giveaway of age. At 67 I have no sunspots on my face, and I contribute that to approximately 3 decades of some sort of retinol and always sunscreen. I had no age spot on my hands until about 4 years ago, then a few started popping up. I have had a couple frozen off which did the trick as I am fair skinned. After showering in the morning, I use Alpha skin care lotion 12% glycolic acid to my hands and arms. At night I mix a pea size of my tretinoin with my hand lotion and rub it together on the back of my hands. I always wear driving gloves also.

This is such a random question but may I ask if your Alpha body lotion has an unusual smell to it..? Not a fragrance but just a vaguely not pleasant odour..? The smell of mine puts me off using it even though the results are great!

@@lyndamoorhead I don't seem to notice an odor. If there is it certainly is not off putting. I get it off amazon. It is called Alpha skin care Revitalizing Lotion with 12% Glycolic AHA. I wash my entire bode with Cerave SA Smoothing Cleanser for rough and bumpy skin with Salicylic acid. (not the privates) It has been super effective to get rid of some sun spots and have a clear skin, no dusty elbows and having skin all over my body smooth as butter. Affordable and effective and I don't need to think about it to apply it, as it is the only "soap" I use. It even got rid of a small thick patch on my forehead and last month I noticed that a white milia bump on my eye lid, that had lived there for years, is no longer there. The milia on my lips has also drastically diminushed. I couldn't be happier.

Hi Dr Dray, I've noticed that many of your videos mention oxidative stress as a factor in aging, pigment issues, etc. I would love to see a video dedicaed to information about oxidative stress--defining it, discussing the ways in which it affects the skin, and various ways to combat it. I learn more and more about it as I watch your very knowledgeable and informative videos but a video dedicated to oxidative stress would be really helpful and informative. I had picosure laser by a derm on some age spots on my legs, thinking I would do one on my chest and a couple on my arms if the legs worked. I wound up not only with white spots on my very fair skin, but almost constant flakiness on those spots even two years later. It would be easier to cover age spots with concealer than dealing with white crusty spots which are even harder to conceal. If you go the laser route, try it somewhere easily hidden to see how you react.

Thank you Dr. Dray for a very useful presentation on getting rid of sun spots; super info. You mentioned that the cells causing the sun spots are very sensitive to cold which is why they can be treat with liquid nitrogen but using liquid nitrogen seems like it might be an over-treatment. You said that these cells are killed at only -4 to -7 oC or 19 to 25 oF, which is well above a freezer's 0 oF temperature. Is it possible to treat sunspots by placing an ice pack, chilled in a freezer, on the sunspot area for a few minutes to selectively kill these cells?

Hi Andrea, can you discuss those red broken capillaries on the face. Does the difference in red color of those broken veins mean anything, like depth or vein type? I am 48 and have not wore heavy earrings or gauged my piercings, but I also don't want to miss an opportunity to slow down them growing bigger/sag by using a retinol. Thank you so much❤ In years ahead my perimenopousal coming, and I'm years hardcore fans of tretinoin, using it religiously and never being this good. When should i use estrogen cream, morning before suncreen or evening with tret? 😊

I grew up in the south of France. Quite often, after being sunburnt, I use to peel bits of my skin and I remember the very pink skin underneath. Sun creams were not very common then. Now I am paying the price. Regarding IPL, it will remove the spots, but apparently, after a while, they come back with a vengeance. It is because anything which irritates the skin, which reacts by producing more melanin. The best thing to use is liquorice and vitamin C, but not together. Castor oil is also good, but be careful with it because you may grow hair.

Help Dr. Dray! I purchased coola sunscreen spray thinking I was doing a good thing for my skin. Later in the evening I noticed I felt itchy. The next morning I felt feverish and thought I may be coming down with something. When I looked in the mirror I was beet red in the face 😮. The night before I washed my face with my laroche posay cleanser and my Sephora overnight mask. When reading reviews about the coola spray I see people saying they got 2nd degree burns on their face. I really wanted to get better about using sunscreen but sad because I think the coola was the culprit. My Face is still burning 🔥 3 days later. Last night I used a soft cool washcloth with just water then slathered aquafor on my face and took Advil for the inflammation. Can you please recommend some other things I can put on the skin that will help? Coconut oil, marula oil, raw honey, Vaseline,maracuja oil, olive oil, avacado oil are some things I have at home. Please recommend something. My face is swollen and hurts sooo much! Thank you in advance for any recommendations you have.

@mleys3248, I too struggle with Milia. I will be trying that. What moisturizer do you follow up with after washing with Rough & Bumpy soap? Many thanks for reply!

@@signsandgraphicsinc Hi, on my body, I don't use anything. For the face, neck and hands I use the vitamin C Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F from the Ordinary (to lighten dark spots and avoid them), over that the Amino Acids + B5 for the hydration, over that the buffet for anti-aging and to seal it all in Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA. All from The Ordinary. It takes only a minute for those ingredients to be taken up by my skin and I can put my tinted sunscreen from Australian Gold SPF 50. The last one is a bit too drying for my taste. So if someone has a good tinted sunscreen for cool toned skin, that is not drying... I am all ears. I have sensitive skin and I had been searching for years for a face care routine I would stick to. And I have been doing the above for three years now. In my book that is amazing. But what really took care of my milia is the Cerave wash gel that I added like a 1.5 years ago.

What's the difference between sun spots and freckles? Is it just that sun spots don't go away on their own? Because I have freckles on my knees that I've had since I was a kid. They fade a bit in winter but never go away. I remember my grade 8 gym teacher asking me in gym class why I had freckles o my knees in winter. Still don't know.

Hello Dr Dray can u please tell me which version of minoxidil is better the liquid or foam cause i see the liquid version of minoxidil ( Kirkland brand) is way cheaper than the foam so I'm just curious on if one is better than the other?
@db-gb5xi
@db-gb5xi 6 ай бұрын
I believe she's covered this in her minoxidil videos. Some people do better with one version over the other so it's pretty much up to the individual.

I personally use the Kirkland brand liquid on my temple areas the night before I wash my hair. Every other day. I usually always derma roll that area first going with the growth of the hair pattern with a 0.5 roller pressing firmly as the scalp is tougher to penetrate. I put my minoxidil in a small spray bottle, apply and rub in pretty vigorously. Then wash hand well.
