What a marvellous video ! Short, to the point. Delivered at a great tempo (what a natural presenter - kudos) & with a link to a paper (what a rare but essential adjunct in these days of poorly researched & presented information). UK based but I believe this product has been available here but as a beekeeper I’m somewhat wary. A balance between being happy to see bees, birds & wildlife (live and let live right) vs having plugs taken out of my lawn by the birds ! I shall do a bit of technical reading. Thanks so much.

Thanks so much Graeme. Glad you found the. content useful and interesting to watch. The fact that Acelepryn is able to selectively target the insects that are the real problem whilst most other insecticides take a sledgehammer approach that really requires you to be careful when you apply them. You got bamboozeled as I did. There have been many complaints about spectracide showing grubs on their front label when it has be shown that the chemicals in the bag don't cause any harm to the grubs. Sorry but if you have done a little bit of research online you would have found out about it. This is what you need to do this season depending on your region. Once the soil temperature 8 inch depth reaches 60 degrees apply bio advanced 24 hour grub killer plus. You are killing the grubs that hatched last season and went dormant during the winter, this suckers are the mature big grubs. Once you killed this mature grubs wait until the bettlees lay their eggs around June-early August . This time you can use what ron is using or by the Scots grub killer and preventative. You'll be trying to kill the eggs or baby grubs. Hope this helps

No problem Wize Guy. Really it's going to be Headway G AND Acelepryn. Acelepryn you can apply in April to control grubs and other lawn pests. Great content Ron. I have a issue with moles in my backyard and I reason white grubs I have found on occasion are the food source. Last week, I applied Caravan G with hope this takes care of the problem. I'm in metro Atlanta and glad there is a Site One I can visit. Do you know if they carry Acelepryn?

Hi degeze. My local Site One didn't have it when I was there a couple days ago, but the pricing in my link, is just as good if not better. Hi familybarton. Same active ingredient but Acelepryn has almost 4 times the amount of active ingredient compared to Grubex so it does a much better job keep grubs away. One application provides season-long protection. If you're applying it for chinch bugs you'll need to get it down before they hatch for best results. Sooner is better than later. Hi Ron. Love the short and very informative video. I know you said it can be used on both warm and cool season turf, but what soil temperature should I use for applying for my cool weather turf in Ohio. Doesn't this have the same active ingredient as GrubEx but at a higher price point?
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching Tom. Application isn't really tied to soil temperature Tom. Anytime in April and May is good to go. I have an amazing and beneficial earth worm population in my soil, hence why I have never used a grub control. I have had minimal grub issues over the years. Are we sure this doesn’t kill the beneficial worm population in a turf patch?

Hi Jordan. Great question. Take a look at page 4 of their brochure: www.greencastonline.com/imagehandler.ashx?ImID=8CB410A1-2F4D-4F95-9064-B74F2AF600F3&fTy=0&et=8 It says its save for earthworms. @@RonHenry Agree with Ron that you don't need both Caravan G and Acelepryn. But with Acelepryn, you still need a few apps of either Heritage or Headway. One thing to note, Acelepryn is really good to apply April - mid-June for best results. Caravan G is best in June/July for grub control. The actives work differently in terms of how quickly they work, how long they work, etc. So, sometimes timing can be a part of making your choice.
