Nicely done Ron. In my past dealings with Rhizoctonia (in Florida), multiple applications were usually required as the fungus is soil-borne. It typically showed up (in the same areas) time after time. Sclerotinia severity can also be lessened by applying Nitrogen. Go figure. Excess Nitrogen is detrimental for Brown Patch but beneficial for dollar spot.

@RonHenry

Hi Ms M. The first thing is to get rid of the existing infection. Once you have brown patch in your lawn it's likely that you'll have to treat for it again in the future. @RonHenry
@RonHenry 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ru Skates. I’ve not heard of PGR promoting fungus issues. Most lawn fungus problems come from overwatering, over/under fertilization, hot/humid weather and lower mowing heights. Can you send me pictures of what you’re dealing with? ron@golfcourselawn.com If you applied PGR at the correct rates you will see mild yellowing a few days after. That should clear up within a week though. If you haven’t put an insecticide down as yet, I would absolutely do that. A good combination product is Caravan G. So I used Disease Ex all last year and Prophesy at the end of the growing season. 2 weeks ago I noticed signs of dollar spot (web like circles) on my lawn so I put down Disease Ex again (curative rate) and also sprayed in liquid propiconazole. The dollar spots went away after a couple days but are now back almost 2 weeks later. I am also noticing red thread in a few locations. Did my grass grow a tolerance to Disease Ex? Not sure what to do now.
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 3 жыл бұрын
Heya Darren. I normally only see the dollar spot webs early in the morning. They're gone by 10AM or so. Disease Ex is Azoxystrobin which doesn't target dollar spot. You need propiconazole for that. If you have anymore of the liquid propiconazole, you can apply that or simply apply Headway G which has a combination of Azoxystrobin and Propiconazole. I've used it on my lawn with great results for large patch. Knocked it right out.

How much nitrogen have you been using in this cool wet weather? Large patch in Bermuda thats really weird. I remember working on a research project once where we noticed cool season type diseases in warm season turf. It was really strange...well conditions were perfect for it. Spring temps were cool, it was wet and turf was super short and over fed. Tested different fungicide combinations many of which are not for residential use and they worked really well. What we also found was that limiting the care of Bermuda in cool spring weather to only mowing and natural watering from rainfall greatly minimized the occurrence of cool season type disease.
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 3 жыл бұрын
Heya SMK. Early April was the first full rate application. of the granular. Just under 1/2" lb of nitrogen. The biggest change between last year and this year is lower mowing height. Last year at this time I was closer to .75 vs. just under 1/2" now. The Headway G application has cleared things up though. Will likely do a follow up application at the end of this month and call it good. Your research sounds really interesting. Thanks for chiming in sir. Always appreciated. 👍😎

Had heard Heritage G is not effective on Dollar Spot. Is this true?
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 3 жыл бұрын
That's correct Brad. For dollar spot you want to go with Headway G. It has propiconazole which is effective against dollar spot. Can get it here: ron-henry.com/headwayg Let me know if I can help with anything else.

@@RonHenry Not sure if I have had a problem with dollar spot or leaf spot in the past. Already have two bags of Heritage G I got last fall.

I hear you Brad. Well you’re definitely entering the window for preventative fungicide applications. If you’r lawn is getting enough nitrogen, what you were dealing with probably wasn’t dollar spot. If you send me pictures, I can get them diagnosed for you. ron@golfcourselawn.com

Are these safe to put on your lawn with pets?
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 3 жыл бұрын
Yes Teryn. Apply per the label and water the fungicide in. One the lawn dries you're good to go.

Are you alternating anything with Headway?
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 3 жыл бұрын
I did Headway a couple weeks ago Matthew. I'll probably just do Heritage the end of this month and call it good. Heritage has the same active ingredient that's in Headway though. I normally don't have issues with large patch in my lawn. First time any fungus issues in years. Thanks for watching.

Don’t the liquid fungicides work bey

Sure they do bey. But they're more difficult for most people to apply than granulars

It would seem that overwatering and overfeeding your lawn would be the two main causes. We all want feed feed feed and water water water our lawns. I’m guilty as charged,

There's definitely a balance you have to strike Jerry. The nice thing about Bermuda is it doesn't require as much water as other grass types. Also no reason to go heavy on the nitrogen. If you're spoon feeding you can get away with less nitrogen and still get a great result. Thanks for watching sir.
