Ditto! Previously, I had laser treatments every year with moderate success. But on just 6 months of Retin A at progressive strengths, I have noted much less redness and visible telangiectasias. I wish I had started it sooner. My guess is it thickens the dermal layer. I no longer flush when hot, stressed or after a glass of wine. Retin A has been a Godsend.

@lucysky384
@lucysky384 Жыл бұрын
@_Cath_ l am not entirely sure about the brand . It is prescribed by a doctor so l think it depends on what country you live in. It's made by some huge pharmaceutical company or they usually have a generic. It is not the same as retinol. There are many different cosmetic companies that make retinol and you don't need a prescription. I use the 0,5 because it's tge only percentage available in my country. (By the way, l used tretinoin for two years, then switched to retinol, and it works just as well, but it is gentler on the skin)

I grew up on a farm, many years ago- sunscreen was not a thing. Result rosacea, broken capillaries and so on. Getting IPL was a game changer. I had the most sensitive skin, constant battles with eczema, and the IPL really reduced the sensitivity. But, going no contact with family also helped! I no longer flush excessively as I have started to gain self esteem. It's a whole lifestyle thing, but I'd hugely recommend IPL for anyone suffering from this.

Ok. Just a note. I had “torrid cushings” For ten years. I went through hell and a lot of “You’re fine” before I eventually had a nice bit of heart failure when I finally had enough and referred myself to an expert. ( I looked up drs in my “sort of”area and basically found the best. I ended up paying a lot to begin with, but was worth it because I finally got the tumour removed in November last year). I had extreme levels of cortisol BUT it was very well hidden. My ACTH levels were non existent and my adrenal glands had effectively shut down. The only way they could truly see the levels of cortisol (1000 nano moles per litre) was to do a dexamethasone suppression test. Simply testing my cortisol showed nothing exciting. Of course I had scans to find the tumour but there was much argument over it was a. Functioning or b. A pheochromocytoma. As I mentioned, I basically had to work it out myself. It’s rare, so drs are very disbelieving. I suffered for so long. My goal this time last year was to get my diastolic BP to UNDER 100 (with three different medications at max dosage) and to slow my heart down (150bpm resting) with max dosage beta blockers and bed rest. I’ve been through it! If anyone sees this, who feels like they might be going through the same, or just wants a bit of advice/discussion (I’ve basically educated myself more than most drs- first time I met my endocrinologist hee asked if I was a Dr, second time he asked if I was a scientist- no, I just wanted to be better) my Twitter handle is @HannaWoeking and I will always respond. There’s so little support available, ironically it’s diagnosed more in dogs! I wish I’d had someone to talk to.

I started developing telangiectasia a few years after a Scleroderma diagnosis. I always had beautiful, flawless skin until then. They have become more abundant over the years and have covered my face, neck, chest and upper arms. I even have some on the back of my neck and behind my ears. It frustrates me that treatments are not covered by insurance because they are considered cosmetic. My whole appearance has changed and maybe it is cosmetic, but it is a blow to my self-esteem when going out in public. I never used to wear make up and now I find myself slathering on as much full coverage as I can. One day, I went to work without any make up on, and one of my coworkers thought I had the chickenpox or maybe even the measles. It was humiliating and embarrassing! Thank you Dr. Dray for this video. My blood vessels on my left cheek has gotten worse. I did use St. Ives scrub, the wrong skincare, in the 80’s we baked with baby oil and sun in. My parents smoked in the house. I just had a consultation with a dermatologist about removing broken blood vessels around the nose, which were caused by using St. Ives facial scrub. They recommended at least 5 treatments a month apart by a vascular laser, $350 a treatment. The problem is they said that it's pretty much guaranteed that the condition will come back. Some lucky people can go a few years before they need treatments again but others will only have a few months. What's the point then? You'll have to heal after each treatment (they can bruise), then do it again next month, then heal, then do it again... And it will only last a short while, from a few months to maybe a couple of years, then do it all over again. Basically, living your life with a constantly reinjured and rehealing area in the middle of your face. The dermatologist said that there is no permanent solution.

Thank you so much for this information! I am 44 and this is definitely something that I struggle with. It could be worse but I have them in the crease of my nose, and around my cheekbone area. Since adolescence, I have been conscious of taking care of my skin, but I clearly wasn't educated. My childhood summers were spent out in the sun. Sunscreen was generally something that I used after I got burnt, so that it would not get worse. Throughout my 20s and 30s Saint Ives walnut scrub was never not in my shower. I used it daily. Like so many, I wish I had known this information in my 20s. Today my skin care is simple, and expensive yet surprisingly effective. I wash my face with CeraVe hydrating cleanser. At night I use Olay retinol 24 advanced along with Laroche-Posay Lipikar body cream. In the morning I use SUNSCREEN along with CeraVe moisturizing cream. I'm amazed at how much more effective this lineup is, as opposed to the expensive department store products. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I love your videos!

Thank you! I have noticed a significant increase in these and couldn’t understand why. Now I have a better understanding of the root causes and perhaps how to eliminate or at least reduce the occurrence. For almost 10 years I have been on a low dose HP medicine, underwent radiation therapy for cancer, and a lot of sun exposure when I was a child. My skin is fairly brown so I was surprised to see these red spider like veins! Knowledge is powerful 👏🏽💃🏽✊🏽

My Adrenal glands shut down after surgical menopause and that was probably the worst time of my life. I was on Steroids for 7 years until the doctors weaned me off of them and my Adrenal glands were working on their own. I hated that time and I hated the steroids. Thank you for dumping your knowledge out for us. My daughter has one little pink vein on the tip of her nose and she's only 31. She doesn't know how to get rid of it. I forwarded this to her.

Also be careful with microcurrent. I had an experience with a refreshed NuFace device. I only had one broken capillary (I had it for 40 years) and now I have dozens of tiny ones on my cheeks. I still use microcurrent as it is fantastic. But if it shocks you, stop! If I had money I would get the laser procedure. I now have to wear some kind of cover up. ☹

Not only is the skin thinning from collagen loss/trauma/neglect/age but also because the liver is not working properly. All links back to the LIVER. Need lymphatic drainage and liver support. I ended up getting 3 V-BEAM sessions for broken capillaries on both cheeks, the results once healed only lasted for about 2 weeks, they are now ALL back PLUS some. I'm very discouraged and don't leave my house without foundation. Do you think that maybe a different type of laser or therapy would be beneficial? Or if anyone else has had a similar experience have any suggestions? Thank you for taking the time to help. ❤

I got IPL and BBL done in January 2021. It got rid of several telangectasias but it is June 2023, and they all came back. And it was over 1k to get those both done. They say you have to do several but it takes a week to recover and most of us can’t take off work that long because you can’t be in the sun and your face peels. Ugh. I wear SPF 40-50 everyday. I wear a facial SPF cover when I drive. My nose skin is so thin from it burning and peeling so much as a kid 😢 I feel hopeless. My skin redness and these blood vessels will never go away. I’m so sensitive to everything so I just look terrible all the time. Make up makes it worse I’ve tried so many different gels creams etc.

I'm pretty sure i caused the secondary-to-trauma vessels from squeezing clogged pours . Recently got off a medication that made me look pretty bad, and I'm recovering now (look six years younger and I'm cute again in only 5 months, in another 5 I'll probably be in shape). Now i wear untinted zinc oxide sunblock, it kind of acts as foundation (i'm a redhead). And i'm like religiously against sqeezing the skin (so i'm learning not to), to hear that i need to get laser treatments to fix this is not the worst thing, as it will probably have other benefits. being in one's early forties and having to get one's looks back is a real eye-opener (i was on seroquel for 7 years, just got off it 5 months ago.).

I have had mild rosacea for many years and so have some residual redness (mostly on my nose) and many telangectasias on my cheeks and nose. Hate them! My derm gave me a redness reducing cream which I started and sent me into a horrible rosacea flare which I am now dealing with! I think once I get it under control I will try the laser, no more of the topical redness reducer for me! I think of all those years of trying to get a tan with no sunscreen and I cringe! Ugh, at least I have turned my daughter into a sunscreen warrior!

My lupus that caused those horrid veins!💡 Ever since I started watching your videos I threw away harsh scrubs and stripping clay masks and anything perfumed. Now I do layers of sunscreen, big hats (with face covering especially when driving), UV blocking gloves, a good plain rich moisturiser (QV), and Tret, my skin looks so much better. I had laser treatment for broken capillaries around my nose at a reputable derm's office. The treatment made my otherwise dry skin break out like crazy, we're talking pimple on pimple on pimple, and unfortunately I was left with permanent pitted scars... He said it was my fault for not telling him it hurt when he was blasting me, when at the time he said it would hurt so I said nothing. Luckily they're tucked in in the folds of my nose so no big harm done, but I'm not getting the rest of my face done, ever.

I've had a few IPL treatments, and it was for dark spots rather than veins, but I did notice that it did take care of a few cherry angiomas as well as drawing a lot of the pigment from sun damage-related dark spots. Not going to lie, getting IPL on your face is painful, but I definitely saw results and would do it again. Note that the pain involved doesn't last past the "zap" each time, so it's not a lasting pain that would need to be managed after the fact. You know the scene in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back where Han Solo is being tortured in Cloud City with the zapping thing? That was what it reminded me of, and basically how I reacted with each pulse. The receptionist congratulated me for not swearing once because most people do.
