I will have my mom try this thanks :-) I had just gotten over a cold and now my mom has a cough so I have been looking for some things that could help her :-)

This if your throat is irritated or infected or you feel the early onset of a cold, but if your lungs has mucus the best thing you can do is keep well hydrated with room temperature water with half a teaspoon of baking soda to break down the viscosity of the mucus so you can cough it all out that's the purpose of coughing is to rid your lungs of built up mucus or phlegm .. so you just need to help the process by breaking down the mucus thickness and speed up expelling it quicker. Also I was told by a Chinese medicine herbalist to avoid milk and eggs there are proteins in them that help produce more mucus.
