Excellent Video. You explained everything very well, gave us the ratio of oil to soy sauce,and showing us how you put in garden was a plus. Now I think I can get rid of the Earwigs. Thank you.

Why not put peanut butter in before you tape edges?? And pour oil mix in before you bury trap???
@cherblattner62723 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tip. As a person with leg/knee handicap, I can see that I could prepare the trap, then stoop over to dig the spot, place the trap, then use the spoon to surround the trap with dirt. Getting the trap back up would be more strain on my bent knee, but could be accomplished with a shovel and moved to a bin or bag in order to move them. They are in our front deck next to the Hostas, a preferred food and habitat.

You can also fill up a shallow dish and not even bury it. Doll tree has cheap heavy pet dishes just place them in corners or in what ever area you need and they’ll climb right in, no lid needed, no need to bury

I use the tiny “sauce” containers, such as for for salsa at Chipotle, either with no lid or with a hole in the lid. Fill them with a 50/50% mix of any kitchen oil (like cannola) and soy sauce, or have heard of using with vinegar, and press it into the soil so the container is about ground level. Really helps with both ear Whigs and moisture knats, and you can put a little ceramic figure, like a mushroom, over it if you don’t like the look.

I just had 10 in my living room. I am so fearful of them. Thank you so much for this info. I will do them tomorrow!
@Itried20takennames Жыл бұрын
I think most of us have some particular bug that creeps us out. If it’s bothering you, the fearfulness actually does get way better with slow exposure…start by looking at pics, then having a small treat after, try to think of them as just natural and having their cool parts, then start being able empty the traps with tongs, then gloves, etc. and soon it doesn’t bother you.

You could also just take a mason jar and bury it in the dirt with some peanut butter on the inside and then you can go dump them someplace far away from your garden if you don’t want to kill them. I would think being plant-based maybe or some people might not want to kill them

My problem using the oil and soya is racoons. Traps I buried in my garden were dug up and opened and emptied leaving no trace of the liquid. Now how to deal with the raccoons and earwigs, arrgh.

Oh no! That is frustrating. I'll be trying to modify the method to account for your feedback and do an update video this year! Hope you are well
