@@janna7843 not very well lol. Every section of my head is a different curl type.
@arlaynaperez21786 жыл бұрын
Hi!! I have the same curl pattern and had the same problem, the only products that could control frizz weighed my hair down and made it lose its definition. Lately I've been loving jojoba oil, it reduces frizz and since it's a super light oil doesn't weight my hair (it actually gives it more volume). It may also work for you. You could also try flax seed gel.

Sweet little Lois! I live in SW Florida, a total curly nightmare! There's a point where we just accept a little halo every day because you just can't escape the humidity. Lots of love to you and your family Susie.
@NitrosMom0746 жыл бұрын
East central FL here. You are so right about accepting the halo, especially July through September! I’m pretty much in a baseball cap in the summer if the halo becomes too unmanageable!
@moniquegebeline43505 жыл бұрын
Curlygirljj I’m coastal Mississippi same problem! What products do you use/love and do you increase ‘hold’ in summer months? I have been here 5 years (originally from pa) and my hair HATES me for fighting my natural texture LOL and would refuse to stay straight anyway in this humid climate. Would love tips!

Hey Susie! I'm brand new to the curly girl method (just did my last sulfate wash yesterday) and have been binge-watching yours and India Batson's videos for the last week or so. Just wanted to say thanks for the tips! Have been struggling a bit with frizz in my super thick hair that takes forever to dry, but it was really helpful when you mentioned in this video that your hair will look more frizzy as its drying. It's helped me resist the temptation to touch it when it's drying. Thanks, Susie!

Lots of great tips! I’ve been trying to rinse with cool water, but I cannot stand being in the shower (at least for the first few minutes) in less than hot water. I know it’s bad for my skin, I just need the mildly scalding heat at first haha. My hair always gets frizzy when it’s halfway dry and I end up putting in some more moisturizer- but I’m gonna try just leaving it alone and see if it resolves itself. Also love the kitty! So cute!!! Would love to see him more!

Great tips! Also...I love the way you say "turban." I love the way you say everything, actually. I live in the southeastern US so, while I encounter frizz year round, it's especially obnoxious during summer (which is basically the end of April to mid-October here). I avoid sugar-alcohol humectants (glycerin, propylene glycol, sorbitol, honey, etc.) and protect my hair but spot treating frizz is always going to be a thing for me. Thanks for your great videos. :)

I can't plop to save my life..lol..just haven't mastered it..I'll barely wrap my hair in a turbin just to dry the bod off and let it out, put my product in then scrunch and then scrunch with a 100 percent cotton flour sack towel which are also fabulous. Most microfiber turbans are the same size. And they’re all too small. I did find a solution. I tie one of those flat, elastic hair bands to the loop, and that gives the tail enough length. So unless your hair is really thick, they will work for you with that trick, even if your head is big.

Hi Susie, so glad you're back with curly hair tutorials; and congratulations on all the subscribers👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Here's whats happening to me; I tried applying coconut oil to my hair a month ago and now no matter how many times I wash my hair the oil residue its still there. My hair feels coarse and dry and now it is so so hard to detangle it ....even in the shower with tons of conditioner. Do you have any recommendations. Thank you💞
@kilroyscarnivalfl6 жыл бұрын
I just tried coconut oil too and felt so coated. Then a rice water treatment gave me a protein overload freakout! What I did was work in just a little filtered jojoba oil which I use for my skin, and it doesn’t solidify like coconut. Then did a double wash with the Shea JBCO shampoo Susie used a few weeks ago in a video, using very warm water. Then a deep conditioning treatment on damp hair with heat applied. It was more or less back to normal. If you don’t have jojoba, any lighter oil should do like grape seed. And keep away from protein products til you get the coconut out.

Bonnie Abadi Seems counterintuitive but I think the oil broke up the heavier oil.
@kurai_sen70656 жыл бұрын
Ah, that happened to me once a couple of years ago, long before I went CG. Turns out, the oil was expired, and it just wouldn't leave my hair no matter how many times I washed it. I ended up going to the salon and having them wash it out over a couple of days. Damaged my hair horribly, never went back to coconut oil since then. I'd rather have it in my conditioner. Oils won't suit everyone, and then also, not all types of oil will suit all types of hair. I generally stay away from oils now because I've had too many bad experiences with them in my hair, but I've heard argan oil really works for some people. Castor oil is another highly sought after oil. Me though? I'm going to stick to CG. Perhaps in the future I might try an oil blend again. I hear the Righteous Roots RX oil is really good.

Your hair looks really nice and curly indeed, I agree with the other comments. I'm not there yet though, I'm only 4 months into the transitioning, and my hair is more wavy with axlot of straight that just doesn't want to curl at all. The title drew my attention because I've got a lot of that halo frizz going on, on top of my hair, and I really hate that. But I'm already doing al those steps you mentioned, no brushing no using towels, the satin pillow case etc...doing them all. So what I'm going to take from this is I'm really going to try out your tip about the leave-in conditioner and oil. I'm excited to try that out next time. Funny thing: on one of your other videos you had the SMJBCO shampoo, and I've got the exact same one. And now you had the SMJBCO leave-in conditioner. So funny I've got that one too! Lol! Have you tried the deep conditioner from that same line? I love it, it's my favorite deep conditioner so far... (its also the only one I've used since I started the CG method ) but my hair seems to love it.
@littleminna6 жыл бұрын
Oh and one thing I wanted to ask you. Do you normally use a leave-in conditioner? Do you use a regular conditioner, one or the other or both? What would you recommend? I'm a bit confused as to which is better to use. Or if one should use both?

Love you and your channel Curly Susie! You are the first CGM you tuber I watched an by far the most enjoyable and least stressful! I wish I could find the right method to reduce my frizz but......things that work for others aren't working for me. Heck, I just wish I could find the right co-wash, leave-in and curl cream/gel combo but I'm still looking. Admittedly I'm new to CGM and have sooooo much to learn. I tried the Biotera gel you love but my hair did not like it. I'm thinking maybe it will work in the dryer months here but not in the humidity (because it has glycerin in it)? I'm assuming your hair doesn't have a problem with humectants when its humid?

In the video about dying your hair, you showed us your hair without products. Your hair is naturally curly now, did it be this curly before you started you CGM journey? Or do you think it was wavy and it is curlier (without products) now? Hugs from Europe :)
