I never comment on videos, but I had to on yours because they are fantastic! I rarely subscribe to anyone, but I did to you because of several things: 1) You get right to the point and do not waste time (yours or mine). 2) You don't pretend to know everything, but do explain what you do know very well. 3) You provide us with products that are inexpensive and easy to find. 4) I can't think of a better way to say this one... You don't act like "I am so cool and everybody loves me" (while flipping your hair and looking at the camera like you are doing a photo shoot for Vogue). Thank you SO much for that one. 5) You don't swear. 6) You obviously love your sweet family, but don't act like you are the only person that has one. 7) You are realistic and "down to earth". 8) Your hair looks great! THANK YOU and keep doing these!

Hi Lori! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment & thank you for watching. I am very flattered & can appreciate everything that you said because I myself am a youtube watcher. All of the things that you mentioned are important to me. I am a real person with a full time "non-youtube" job and a mediocre lifestyle hahaha my house looks like an 80 year old lives in it and my clothes don't always match but I just try to be real and be myself. xoxo you made my day

Hi Susie, just wanted to say thank you for making these videos. Growing up, I struggled a lot with even liking my hair cos I just didn't know how to take care of it or style it and it took me a long time to love my natural hair. It's been almost a month and a half that I've been trying the curly girl method after I saw it in your videos and I even got my friend to get me the bioterra gel when she came here to India visiting from the states so I'm pretty happy with the results so far. It's still in the transition phase, I guess, so not looking that great but I'm hopeful that with time and being consistent, I'll let there to where it looks and feels great. So a big thank you again.

Hi Susie! Your videos are seriously the most helpful ones I've found. I purchased the CGM Handbook and was totally overwhelmed. I found you on Sunday, and I think I probably spent nearly 6 hours that day watching. I did my final wash with sulphate that night. CG all week. I spent my whole life ashamed of my hair, damaged the hell out of it, so I could look like 'all the other girls'. Day 4 results are not half bad. Can't wait to see what the future holds. Thanks again! You're a godsend!

Great method for refreshing. I do a similar method but have to use a lot more water until it's really soaked otherwise it gets really stringy or frizzy. I think I have 2b or 2c hair, but it's super thick, very coarse, even my strands are thicker than average-it's a love/hate relationship with my hair LOL.

Looks super good! I have the same next day straight-on-top issue, diffusing works wonders. My go-to is a mix of the Botanique conditioner, Biotera and a hefty amount of water, all together in a spray bottle.

Meg Marcella - Lol - I just wrote the same thing ... Make a solution in my spray bottle! My personal "elixir" is distilled water, As-I-Am Leave-In Conditioner and either Mielle Honey & Ginger Styling Gel (for a little less "cast" and a little more protein) or Bioterra Styling Gel (like S uses)! The combo saves a couple steps. 😊

I do the EXACT same thing as you S, except I actually have just blended my leave-in and my gel in with the water in the spray bottle; shake it up, and spray and do the praying hands, etc., etc., and I get pretty much the same result. A little less product build-up for my personal hair type between shampoos. Loved you confirming it works for you too! 😀👍🏻

So happy I found this channel. I am in the process of growing out my hair and letting it curl again after doing the keratin treatment 3 times. My hair is damaged (not from the keratin itself, it did not damage my hair at all, but I did keep straightening it even through the treatment as it couldn't fully straighten it on its own) and now I'm in the transitional phase. It's a struggle and at times I get discouraged and want to just go back to straight hair, but seeing her videos really makes me want to stick with it. I love the way her hair looks, it's so healthy and shiny and bouncy, and my natural pattern is very similar to hers, maybe a little tighter, but just seeing how gorgeous her hair looks really motivates me and makes me so happy and excited about what my hair could look like if I continue.

I find it I use product every day my hair gets weighed down, so I just damp my hair and scrunch it with a trashier I've also noticed in my ten weeks doing cg method that my hair is super glossy I've never had really glossy hair and I just air dry I've done no heat for ten weeks I'm really pleased with myself, and your hair looks amazing I wish mine would go like that but it's early days yet

wendy wendy Same! I tried using products like this for three days in a row and my hair got really weighed down. Some days this may work, but my usual refresh is to dampen/wet all my hair in the sink (but not soaking wet), turn my hair upside down, and then scrunch a curling cream through it.

Susie, THANK YOU so much for taking time to share with us! I am new to your channel, but very glad that I found you. I have struggled with my curly hair with washing to styling and sometimes I felt just hopeless to get a non frizzy, shinny curls. I have been using your routine for about 2 weeks now and I love what it does to my hair. Had even less of an idea to "refresh" my hair. Now I know! Also, the products you use work very well for me too. Awesome! Hope you enjoyed your concert :)

Just like the CG method, gets right to the point and keeps it simple. The other curly hair channels mean well, but unfortunately can become too overwhelming.. especially for someone who's a recovering curly hair woman, and a mom to boot. Thanks for the help.

Hi Susie! Great video as always ;) your videos definitelly changed my life as before my hair was a mess. I used to wash my hair everyday to make them look acceptable good but since I follow CG routine it's enough for me to do it only twice a week. Have very similar hair type to yours although probably a lot more frizzy. When I use products everyday I find my hair too sticky so to refresh I use only a spray bottle with a little conditioner diluted in it. Cheers!

I think you had a similar video about refreshing curls. I do basically the same thing you do, but mix the conditioner and gel together, then do the "praying hands". I usually let my hair air dry, then scrunch, but when I'm in a hurry, I diffuse. I sleep in a satin "bonnet", and my hair will have soft waves in the morning. Great tips, as usual!

Great tips, I never thought to refresh section by section. Also, just wanted to say that I appreciate that you always add a little humor, like with that little saying, I always say “good enough for the girls I go out with”, a popular saying in the military. I’m new to the CGM, i have been flat ironing my hair since I turned 15, and I finally decided to embrace my messy wavy curls. You’re my favorite guru, you keep me motivated, and I like how you show that you can still get great results without spending an arm and a leg on Deva Curl products! Keep up the good work!

OMG I love this and you!!! You are one if not the only one I’ve come across with that actually would rather wash their hair daily than do a refresh. I’ve always washed my hair (shampoo and conditioner) everyday since I was a kid. But after getting to know the CGM I’ve only used conditioner everyday and no poo shampoo every 4 days or so. I just feel like my hair gets dirty throughout the day even if I’m indoors 90% of the time (so hard to change this habit!) BUT thank you for this tutorial, will be using it on days I’ll try not to wash. 🤗

Here's a suggestion I figured out and it works great....In your spray bottle, I have one like yours, it's about an 8 oz capacity...I add a pinch (maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 of a teaspoon) of epsom salt in it. Shake it up to dissolve and it makes the hair want to curl more.

Dunno what it is, it's simple & adorable but it makes me smile & excited about curly hair XD With a lot of other music/visual intros, I'm already annoyed before I even watch the video either at how long they are, the annoying music, flashiness, overuse of emojis or something else ridiculous, but really just had to let you know that was well done :)...& that's not even to mention the video content - I won't monologue on that here; it's just STELLAR! Thanks, Miss Susie!

Hey!!! Thanks a million. I made it sort of accidentally and I’ve always liked it. The music is from a Funk Cover band on KZbin called Scary Pockets. It’s a cover of a backstreet boys song (super random). Anyway, thanks so much for watching & taking the time to reach out.

Susie thank you for the gel recommendation. It's been a life save for my fine wavy hair. When I went to purchase it I also purchased the biotera renew silky milk leave in. Its silicone free and it's been an amazing combo for me 🤗

I’ve been trying to find a refresh routine that works well for me and I found this tutorial really helpful! My curl pattern is very similar to yours in that my top is much looser and everything else I’ve tried has left my hair frizzy once it’s dry. I can’t wait to try this! I am curious how often you do your full wash routine though. Do you mind sharing?

You can also buy those coil hair elastic bands at the dollar store as well. I also have a diffuser that doesn't fit on my hairdryer held together with duct tape.

I have been having good results with putting some conditioner in the spray bottle and putting some leave-in conditioner on my hair the night before. I will have to give this a try.

My hair is just a tad too short to get it up in a pineapple--however, I just get my hair up by using some cheap alligator clips around the crown of my head. It gets MOST of my hair up--some is still down in the back. (Plus I sleep on a silk pillowcase cover too.) Before I put it up with clips, the curls on the sides would be especially flat and lifeless. I like AG Re-curl and water to refresh. Have fun at the concert!

I use a spray bottle with a little SM JBCO Gel, a little aloe vera juice, splash of ACV, a dab of some conditioner, some lavender EO and the rest water. I hate having a bunch of steps, so I dampen with that mixture and diffuse. 10 minutes.

Your refresh came out great! I love that this is not complicated at all. I'm going to try this routine tomorrow. : ) Two questions: 1. What setting do you use on your hair dryer? 2. Do you scrunch out the crunch on your refresh (the video doesn't show this and you didn't say that you did but I was just wondering)? Thank you!
@CurlySusie

Hey, I guess I don’t really scrunch with my hands... but I’m scrunching my hair up towards my head with the dryer ... it’s on the cool/warm setting

Do you find it impossible to run your fingers through your hair after this? I did a similar technique but my hair turned into a hay like consistency and was impossible to run fingers through. Brushing through it was quite the feat as well. Thanks!
