Had mole problem west of you in Columbia for 35 years with little success of eradication. Used MolExit a number of years to move them along to the neighbors yard. However, a couple of years ago I tried Bell Laboratories Talpirid 7150 Mole Bait Worms, 20 Count with great success. I take a 2' x 1/2" dowel rod and poke down until I feel the void (tunnel) in an active run. I make two dowel rod holes in the suspect area. Using latex gloves, I break the worm into two pieces - one for each shaft. I roll the worms in peanut butter on wax paper. Then I drop one part down each hole. Great success so far!!

In the last month I've caught two moles. I use a garden hose and flush them out if I know its very recent activity. I put the water in the far end of the tunnel and poke along the tunnel observing where the water runs and what way the tunnel goes. It took maybe 5 or 10 minutes but if you listen Ive heard the mole breaking the roots of the grass when they come above ground to excape the water.

I've had some success with the mole spikes. It sends out a pulse through the ground over I think a 50 ft radius. I put 3 out and it at least pushed them out to the edge of the lawn. I may try a few more this year. Thanks for great vid, mate!

The spike traps have worked for more than 50 years. I usually get them at yard/garage sales about $5. You must push the spikes all the way down before setting otherwise spikes don't go deep enough. When you kill one with spike trap you can verify or just pull trap up without seeing the victim.
@terrietaylor93168 ай бұрын
I have found two of the spike mole traps older ones but springs are really hard to pull up. Could you please suggest something to put on the springs to make them easier for me to set the spike traps. I am a senior citizen so I know I don't have enough strength but I'm trying please help me if you can thank you

I like the comparison. Had my second mole of the year on Sat. Set three scissor traps and it was caught the next morning. Love it when it works out that way!

Yeah I find catching them in traps satisfying. It's also awesome when it happens that quick.

You can break the worms in half to put in each hole and that will work instead of putting a whole worm which will save you money

If you press down a tunnel and then it gets pushed back up you know it's an active tunnel.

Pretty sure those worms are bromethalin. I live in Canada, have a pesticide applicator certificate and pesticide license, and can't even get those. The secondary poisoning risk is high because bromethalin stays in the same form inside the body after it is eaten. In the states anyone can buy them and it kind of blows my mind.
@TheLawnGuardian4 жыл бұрын
This is why PPE and keeping lawn care products like this in a locked cabinet so kids can't get to them is important.
@kidomniman86354 жыл бұрын
@@TheLawnGuardian it is also why I usually use bromadiolone baits for rats. Secondary poisonings can still happen but it changes form and becomes less toxic going into the food chain. Moles won't take it though so we have to trap moles up here. There is another type of mole bait called zinc phosphide you might want to check out. Also can't get it for moles up here, technically legal it have to bury it too deep for the moles to find it so functionally illegal, and it changes form to be less toxic after being eaten too. It turns into phosphine gas first to kill the mole so it is still plenty dangerous but I would try using it if local laws allowed. Be careful though. Safety first then teamwork
@TheLawnGuardian4 жыл бұрын
I have actually tried the zinc phosphide but I wasn't having much luck with it. I prefer using the traps anyway. The more I use the traps the better I was getting at using them but fortunately I don't live in this house any more and I currently don't have any mole issues at the new house. Safety is absolutely right when working with any of these chemicals.
