My first seborrhea flare up was when I was 18. It was absolutely horrible, my face was red, itchy, scaly, and over the course of a year it got worse and worse. Then I started using a zinc pyrithione cream/spray and it worked wonders - after a week of using it my skin was clear, I genuinely couldn't believe it. As time went on I discovered that humidity was a major trigger for me. Another trigger is dust in the air, I found that the skin areas where I typically have a flare up are very sensitive to dust, also avoid touching those areas with your fingers or clothes/bed sheets/etc. as this makes it worse. I have tried many different facial skin cleaning products but all made my condition worse - I find that simply washing my face with water is the best thing to do for me. I also found that scrubbing your face disrupts the skin barrier and for me this again causes a flare up. Also don't overwash your face as this will lead to skin dryness which again triggers a flare up. Another trigger for me is using any cream that contains any type of oil - I only ever use my zinc pyrithione cream and nothing else as anything else causes itchiness and often a flare up. The sun definitely clears the seborrhea away, it is very very effective, but obviously this only works in the summer months and is therefore temporary. This is coming form my own experience but I think for the people who say that the sun aggravates their condition is because if you have very oily skin (like me), a lot of oil is being released from your skin when you sunbathe for the first time in the year (like May/June time when it starts to get hotter in northern Europe), and the build up of oil initially makes the condition worse. However, any subsequent exposure to the sun makes the condition a lot better and there is noticeable improvement. So unless you are super pale and/or sunburn easily, staying in the sun will very likely improve your condition.

@dewilton7712 processed food should but vegies and fruits shouldn't unless your getting too much sugar from the fruit. Sometimes its hard to tell because the flare up might not happen straight away or it might happens during ur next meal and you be blame that food for causing it. Ive had it for a few years now. And i stressed alot making it worse.. sent me mental. Only thing ironically that helped me was a moisturiser which fella in video doesnt suggest. Things that I've found to help over the years, maybe they'll help someone: - sunscreen itself makes a big difference, not the sun, - definitely washing hair regularly, - mixing powdered "Amla" (gooseberry from India) with the shampoo before using and leaving in for a few mins. Originally I started talking this as a study showed that it was as potent at preventing hair loss as prescription drugs (preventing the conversation of testosterone to DHT), however it's also anti-inflammatory and helps with collagen health. Bonus effects that I've had lots of compliments on how healthy my hair looks and it also gives a temporary thickness, - being weird here, but in the interests of science, as a teen a started to wash my face like a cat. Yes. With my saliva. Every time I test this, it causes a significant reduction in symptoms. Obviously don't do it if you have something on your skin or after food :P Much love.

Had dermatitis like two years ago... It tortured me for years. Specially while I was a college student. Remember waking up every day to go to my morning classes and after washing my face and heading out, from my eyebrows down to my chin, my face was full of this stuff. Remember being so ashamed of it. Had an expert look at it and wasn't much of a help. And one day, headed into a local pharmacy in my hometown for something for my mother, and out of curiosity asked a woman clerk if she knew anything that could help with that. Without skipping a beat, she turned around and grabbed a tube of Sinoderm. Small and cheap, so decided to give it a shot, there's nothing to lose. So, that day, I applied the gel after washing my face before bed and after the next day, the dermatitis never returned. Was in disbelief.

An interesting hypothesis that I just read a study on suggests that up to half of Parkinson’s patients may have a problem in their gut biome that causes them to fail at metabolizing B vitamins, such a Biotin folate and Niacin. It seems like if your gut biome is messed up and your B vitamins aren’t being properly utilized in your body, that might explain why it could be more common in Parkinson’s patients.

I have dandruff and seborrheic dermatities, and used nizoral for about 5 years. Until i learned that coconut oil worked better for me than Nizoral. When i used Nizoral, i was to apply it twice a day. Same goes with coconut oil. I apply it once or twice a day, or two to three times a day, during a flare up period. For my dandruff, it is usually enough to shampoo regularly (three times a week), but if my dandruff is flaring up, i mix coconut oil into my scalp, and let it sit there for about 20-30 minutes, before i wash it out. (remember it is easier to wash out oil from your hair, if you apply the shampoo before putting water in your hair. And then again after you have washed/rinsed the first round of oil and shampoo out of your hair). Thanks a lot for making this video, it was very informative, and have some good advice.

I've stopped using shampoo and it has helped me. What I've learned is that because I was shampooing too regularly, I was stripping away the natural oils and so my body compensated but upregulating how much oil it was producing. Once I cut out the shampoo, my body gradually decreased how much oil it was making because I wasn't drying out my scalp any more. Like others have said, cutting out sugar makes a bit of a difference as well.

For me, plain white vinegar on my face just 1 minute before the shower a few days a week. Symptoms vanish in like 3 days it's magic. Costs $2 a year. The dandruff shampoo slightly helped. But vinegar eliminates the symptoms completely. Gotta do it forever though

The annoying thing is I’ve only ever been prescribed ketoconazole and it is not very effective in either shampoo or cream form. I’ve had sebdem in my scalp for decades and as of two summers ago I’m getting awful flare ups on top of my feet and it’s super annoying because I can’t wear flip flops because the strap contact aggravates it and I can’t wear regular shoes because they’re not letting the skin breathe. Hydrocortisone helped 2 years ago hopefully that’s all I need now. Colloidal oat cream also recovered my skin from being very badly scarred by the cocktail of lotions I had used last time.

My guess is that the cause is insulin resistance, I have dt2 and ate no carb diet and the skin became so much better. Now I ate bread as test, total flareup, ain't doing that again. I think this skin condition is a symptom of insulin resistance.

Fasting cuts out toxic food you eat, then once your blood is less toxic , your blood begins to flush skin inflammation via hydration. But still drinking plain water ain't enough, you need to increase mineral content via sea salt to increase blood volume . Because that skin inflammation means your entire body is mineral deprived and dehydrated. Animals don't take in plain water , they need minerals to stay electrically conductive!

Doc do you think finasteride could cause a flare up since it messes with hormones? I had no dandruff for years my scalp has been completely fine for a long time, but in february i started on finasteride and about a month in I started getting really bad dandruff and oily flakes of skin on my scalp that I can scrape off in lumps with my fingers... could just be coincidence but like I said before I started on the fin my scalp was totally fine for years
