This happened to me too! She kept escaping. I'm getting two totally conflicting stories. Some are saying totally ignore them, others are saying talk to them so much they get annoyed. I don't know what to believe. All I known is when i boxed Nan in behind jail bars she would occasionally teleport out. We then started talking to her so much she'd get annoyed once a day for several days. So far nothing has worked.

A TIP if you are at the point where you are buying plots of land for 10,000 bells, save up nook points before you build it. When you decide to build (build first) take a lot of island trips and pick out who you want. It leaves more control than waiting on campsite.

So, whenever a new villager comes to my island (campsite), the same thing keeps happening. The want to move here, but unsure. They play this card game, if I win, they’ll agree to move in. But I haven’t once been able to move out a villager I wanted, they tell me who wants to move, instead of me selecting the villager I want out.. any tips? I currently have a 3-star island rating if that’s a factor.

I'm almost entirely convinced it's random. One of my favorite villagers, Coco (whom I talk to everyday, multiple times), just asked to leave, while villagers I have ignored haven't had the thought bubble appear. I was also extremely mean to one of the villagers and he hasn't asked to leave either. Therefore, I think if you befriend them, the thought bubble appears more frequently, and after that it's just RNG on what they want to do. I'll keep testing this 'ignore' theory for another month and see where it goes.

Or can you click on them to negotiate with and they will automatically switch to that “moving out” mindset?
