note: i did repo for 10 years, if someone was living in a motorhome/fifth wheel or whatever we could not repo it without an eviction notice being served first and going through that process. in my state, if an RV is hooked up to shore power, it is considered "occupied" and ya cant just repo it, so, without a physical addy here its hard to get financing. another great video Andrew, and as always, stay safe and give Sadie some love for me.

"POP" ... that's the sound of my bubble bursting. I'll go back to pretending my 2003 Subaru Forester is an antiquated, micro-Prevost. Sure, it's got a slide out. If I open the tailgate and accelerate quickly, every thing back there will slide out just fine.

Cliff notes version: You can't afford one. Stick with a 20 year old Winnebago with the brown plaid interior and pay cash. Make sure to disinfect it, especially the spongy floor around the toilet. Might want to spring for a new mattress too.

You are 100% correct banks always want to extend you credit when you don’t need it. But god forbid you actually need it and they’re no where to be seen.
@mtnbiker0143 жыл бұрын
Why jump all over banks? How many times have you applied for a loan when you DIDN’T need one? That’s illogical. Obviously, banks evaluate your ability to REPAY a loan not how desperately you need one, which seems to be YOUR only qualifying issue. You seem to feel that the more you need a loan, the more giving a bank should be regardless of your state of income and/or debt and ability to repay.

I tried to by a 1999 coach, knowing that I had a snowball's chance in hell getting financing. I had $5000 cash which was more than 50% down and they found a loan shark (I mean bank) who would finance it. 19% interest and $750 per month! Some dealerships are in bed with crooks. Pay cash if you can, which I eventually did!!!

We purchased a brand new motorhome March 2019, brought it home, moved everything we needed into it, got rid of the rest.....the kids came and took what they wanted first. Put the house up for sale, sold it in August, now we live full time in our motorhome. The bank doesn’t need to worry about where we are, they get their payment automatically every month, but they are cracking down on this common practice, they either want auto withdrawal from your direct deposit account or they want a signed contract stating they will be notified prior to selling your real estate.

jet052673 you can’t find anyone guilty or not guilty if there’s no charges pending to try them on currently. Late to the party here but I would like to add a personal experience that worked for me. As a full time rv'er we were viewed as having a residence since our mail service address was our legal address. We had no issue being approved for a new rv since we had that address. I'm sure for these vastly more expensive coaches that if the lender does (any) due diligence that they would laugh at that but we were abile to slide through. Hope this helps someone and happy rv'ing yall!

It is best to pay cash, but don't tell the dealer you're paying cash until you agree on the final price. Many make a lot of money off the financing. I also don't say wither I have a trade in till then.

Depreciation formula. I found a mint condition 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII years ago. Bank wouldn't finance it because it was "too old". I found one a year newer (1998) with more miles on it and in almost as good condition and it was 5000.00 more and they said yes.

From my personal Experience. If you have to worry about payment amounts or anything along those lines you should not stretch yourself to a prevost. When I bought my prevost from Olympia luxury coaches near Nashville TN. I never test drove it or anything I knew it was the one after a year searching online. I was in & out the dealer in maybe 30-40 min from first seeing it in person and told them to email me the paperwork. My personal opinion. Save up and write a check.I kept it in my budget of writing a check instead of dealing with a finance company. I could have bought a 1.1 to 1.3 mil coach if I financed. But I rather not owe anyone on a depreciation asset and write it off. I bought my 06 CC for 410k in April of 2019 and have spent about 30-35k since in maintenance repairs because the coach had low miles and wasn’t used much (45k miles) current mileage over 14 months later is 68k. What I’m getting at is don’t ever stretch yourself thin. Leave room for heavy repairs going into this category. Yes they are the best Rv / coach on the road, but with having the best always comes with the higher costs of operating. Great channel Andrew love ya bud and see you soon

Banks are not your friend. They are a necessity like lawyers. You need a bank for financing You need a lawyer for wills, litigation, speeding tickets, etc. Banks need collateral to cover possible losses. That led to the proliferation of home equity loans. With the bust of 08 they don't loan real estate property around here anymore unless you have a home or something else as tangible collateral. Land is not an asset unless you can do something with it. We purchased our Wanderlodge with cash after selling some property. Doubt we could get a loan on a 14 year old bus without putting up the house as collateral. Not going to happen. Thanks again Andrew for a very informative video. I appreciate it.

Banks want real-estate: when you default on the loan and the coach gets repossessed, then sold at sold at auction, you are responsible for the difference between amount owed and auction price. For the difference banks will put a lien on your home at 10% interest and eventually get their money back . Banks cannot put a lien on retirement assets, is off limits. Banks want hard assets, not paper assets.

Thank you very much your messaged video was pretty good well understood appreciate it I am looking for a reasonable RV and I chose the sprinter class b model the big coaches are nice but a more older coach for me would less quality maybe would be better if I wanted a class a motor coach I would go for one oh much older than a brand new one if I had cash out to pay for it then I'd be good that's well understandable rather than financing and going through all the the through all the hoopla on it anyway I'll be watching again if I strike the lottery then I can retire if not I'll go back to trucking if I get out of the hospital the problems I'm having right now in the meantime I'll just watch the videos this was a good scenario about financing RVs be aware the people who finance RVs got to have a credit rating 800 or above or you have to come clean with cash to pay out for down payments and you got to have collateral which is foundation which is a home or something so this was very good
@db4z094 жыл бұрын
You have to remember a bank issues loans as way to invest and therefore make money. Making the case to investing on a big depreciating asset is really tough and risky. If there is any chance you won't make the payments and the value of the asset won't cover the remaining loan so they can get their money back, why would they make that investment? Would you buy a stock that you know would be worth half its value in a few years because of the 3% dividends its paying now?
@SLICKW19934 жыл бұрын
Go through a credit union. I didn’t own any real estate when I bought my toy hauler. But on the other hand I wasn’t buying a $100K+coach.
@1982MCI4 жыл бұрын
There’s a lot of banks that use that requirement more so to try and bundle all your stuff together and gain much more collateral from you in case you should default. The banks know that just because you own real estate somewhere, doesn’t mean your gonna ever find me their. They want to be in control, and to be in control then they need to own you! So they try and get you to bundle if you have real estate on the promise that I can get you a lower interest rate and you only have to make one payment etc, etc, etc. those banks are all a bunch of damn crooks and they will not control me like this! Why should it have to be so damn hard for me to have use of my own money that I’ve already let that bank freely use but now it’s my turn to use my own money!!! I worked my butt off for it, NOT Bank of America, so keep your fingers off of it unless I give you permission!! It’s my turn to use MY money!!! Somewhere, everyone has let things get turned around. Why aren’t we having the banks fill out an application in order to hold our money for us!! It’s completely backwards!!

Most folks buying coaches, or any RV period, aren’t looking at it as some form of investment and understand that it will be hit every year with a massive amount of depreciation. Your an idiot if you walk into this thinking of it as an investment and for a large number of buyers of class A’s, they are used as some form of write off and help balance tax dollars out some and they have the disposable income to throw away on a nice coach that they can enjoy for several years while they are taking the depreciation because that same money would just be going to taxes anyways

I don’t always agree that the best way to buy is to pay cash. If you can get a low interest rate it’s better to finance. My current loan is 4.25. So I pay about 3000 in interest a year. The balance is $50000. I can keep that money in a mutual fund earning 8% and make $4000 a year. Plus I am able to deduct the $3000 interest on my taxes which also saves money. However it is important to make sure the balance on the coach remains equal with the value so you can pay off the loan when you sell it

Just in general the whole credit score system is a scam. You could build your score up over 20 years, make one mistake and they drop your score 250+ points. You could have a great score and make lots of money but the bank decides not to give you a loan for 5k. Credit lenders use the score as a way to have control over people.

Banks don't want to loan money for an RV, unless you own real estate?Having a mortgage is not owning real estate. It's owing a large sum of money to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars to a bank. Unless you hold the title/deed to that real estate property, you don't own a thing. Banks that lend to people who don't need money, is nothing new. Instead taking all that money for a down payment, insurance and maintenance and a house/property you'll never own, how about you rent where you live and use all that other money towards buying the ideal motorcoach for your needs? A house is a never-ending money pit and unless you're a professional in real estate, you're not really getting a worthy return. You're just getting back the money you piled into it.

The obvious reason is the rapid depreciation of RV's, banks know if the loan goes south they cant recover their $$$$$. If you own real estate the bank can take your property.

Its not just about being free to disappear from the financial obligation, it's about government control over individuals. It can't control you and tax you if you are not constantly tied to a mortgage. They need you predictable, working, and stressed for survival from birth to death. You cannot be a successful person, if you don't own a home. Not everything is bright & cheery. Sorry, that's the game. So, we've paid cash for our 1st one and upgraded it by our own hands then traded up with some cash and now we are upgrading this one. In time, and small increments, we will make our way up to a desired result. Find your own way to beat the "system" because it ain't right.

Yes, cash only. Figure in worst case scenarios for upkeep. Toys. Depreciating assets. Special circumstances such as musician on road of other biz use MIGHT make sense to lease or finance....
