This Is Why Prevost Bus Conversions Are Sought After

Today I am at Premium Coach Group in Gilbert, Arizona inspecting a wonderfully vintage 1992 Country Coach Prevost Bus Conversion on a XL Chassis. I really had a difficult time not calling it a 1999 because it just looked so good. Of course we'll take a look at the roof, but I will also show the inside and a few other features. I cannot deny that I really liked this vintage Bus conversion. My favorite part is seeing how the previous owner(s) did maintain the unit and how durable these buses can be if cared for.
Thanks for watching!

Great timing! I've been binge-watching "vintage" Prevost videos the last few days. Someday I'm going to be in the right place at the right time and one of these will follow me home. Figures that this is a 1992, I have my 30 year high school reunion coming up this summer.

@@AZExpert Indeed it has. Time plays dirty, seeming to accelerate the older you get - it's as if my 20 year reunion were just a few years ago from my perspective. All I know is that the next time you get as genuinely excited about a bus conversion as you were about the American Carriage one about a year ago, I'm buying it. I still feel like I missed the boat on that one...

You sound just like me, I have been looking almost every day for that proverbial Prevost needle in a hay stack, some day I hope to have that "this is the one" feeling. Myself, I am looking for a forever bus, as I am already 60, I need one to be a well taken of unit, that's not to say that I have any fantasies that I will never have to work on it, or throw money at it, but something solid with a documented history, not over the top, but not too modest either, something in between.

Indeed! My good friend's Prevost Country Coach has dual Heart inverters. Country Coach was ahead of their time, having no compressed gas systems aboard, everything electric, and a large battery bay. I knew Heart inverters well, in the fire service, we used plenty of them on various ambulances, apparatus, and command buses. If you needed plenty of power, the Heart units were the way to go! The generator on these coaches is midship, in an isolated compartment, with the cooling air ducted below. With the generator in operation, it is quieter than a single rooftop AC, with the Cruise Air units all live!

Well now, James, this is really interesting. How would you compare this 1992 Prevost Country Coach to your 2001 Beaver Patriot? My first thought is Prevost's stainless steel chassis and superstructure framing compared to Beaver's fiberglass box on a ladder-frame steel chassis. Aluminum roof vs a fiberglass one. These are just a couple of things I've picked up on watching the videos of your coach and this particular bus conversion. What about the interior workmanship - equal? Innovations for the time period - equal? These are thought provoking questions for you, appreciate some insight since I'm in the market for a diesel pusher.

my biggest objection to these behemoths is cost and complexity of ownership rather than cost of purchase, i live off grid on the LATV BLM for the 6 months of winter and would need a gigantic solar set up rather than running a huge generator at all times and the battery capacity needed? forgetaboutit. a school bus or smaller trailer like my 22 ft seems the best option out here. but its nice to dream.

I can’t believe they still want low-mid 6 figures for those things. A 25 year old vehicle is still gonna have 25 year old problems no matter how nice the paint job is. The same goes for everything else for that matter…

@@AZExpert Yeah the engine will but not the rest of it. All it takes is one complicated electrical problem to set you back $6k. You fix that THEN SOMETHING ELSE GOES DOWN… CAT, Cummins or Detroit is all the same to me😉
