If you use the item you get from scrap dealer, PUT IT IN YOUR PERSONAL REFINER before you pulse. You’ll be able to take it out of refiner after and re-use it. Do this every time. You can re-use the same one forever!

I have done more than 35 derelict freighters. I have never found one freighter that did more than 4 of any type of upgrade, three technology upgrades and 1 hyperdrive upgrade. The S class upgrades boost your fleet capabilities or efficiencies by 15% or so. As with starship upgrades these "fleet" upgrades utilize adjacency to achieve greater boosts in performance, so you will need 6 of each type of upgrade (three in general, and another 3 in "Technologies") for maximum effectiveness. If you don't want to use the portal to get to the freighter in the video, your best bet is to find "Opulent" economies and loot the derelicts there. It's not guaranteed but that's where I have had my best luck in finding good upgrades .

Simply S class is a higher tier so better stats like level 4 instead of 1-3
