Can't believe I didn't know about the "salvage all" feature. And that is why I watch these videos.
@LCarter-w3e8 ай бұрын
I was also today years old when I learned about that feature, and here I've been salvaging one at a time like a complete IDIOT all these years. I also have one question. I've googled this but can't find anything on it really. I just ran Rescue and Search and seemed to be hit by some debuff that disabled my cannons. I've run Trouble Over Terrh a bunch and it seems like the Elachi also have the ability to knock my cannons, or beams, offline. Though never the rear arc weapons. I'll hit the space bar and the cannon icons in my tray will either just stay grey for some random amount of time, or there will be a 13 second timer until I can fire again. Is this some bug I'm triggering? Or do I need some gear that restarts the weapons when they're knocked offline? Or just to up my game and kill things quicker?
@dave_n8pu8 ай бұрын
Me to, I saw it sitting down there in the window but didn't have a clue what it was for, so I ignored it.
@needparalegal2 ай бұрын
I would never touch it. Unless you are VERY careful about putting all your useful gear on protected status.

A couple of tips and info on making this process ultra efficient; 1. You do the Patrol on Elite because it rewards higher quality gear (off-topic; if you've found that completing one Patrol on Elite doesn't level up a new ship it's because the experience you gain is partly based on your character level and partly on the strength of your build/speed and efficiency completing it. ie. a low level character will have to run an Elite Patrol several times, as will a level 65 character with a weak build to level up a new ship). 2. Don't salvage the highest quality gear you're awarded, sell it! Salvage the lower quality gear. 3. Don't sell that gear to the typical vendors, sell it in clubs/bars (ie. the barman upstairs in the nightclub in the Spacedock, or the waitress on the second floor of the place owned by that Ferengi on DS9). They pay more. 4. This will make the time you spend doing these patrols more profitable (which will prove extra useful when the Isomag market completely collapses).
@cliveklg77397 ай бұрын
The other advantage to those 2 patrols is the enemies keep coming for a set time. So the faster you can kill them, the more waves come, which means more salvage. That timer only starts when you start that final section, enter the ring on the map, so you can position behind the waves easily also for raider bonus. Now if we could only get them to impliment an true autoloot, with no action on our part except being in range. Thankfully they extended the loot despawn timer. Used to be you could lose loot despawning before you could collect it all.
@Retset8 ай бұрын
I agree on Ninth and Rescue. Ultimately, it comes to collect ALL salvage, not fly out of maps with little prizes still sitting everywhere like every STO youtuber seems to do. Don't sell any of it unless you hit an obscene amount of salvage. It's amazingly quick to use up!

I've burned so much Dil on rerolling Isomags. I did 5 consoles once, only burned like 10k Dil. Then I spent close to 20k on just 2 isomag consoles. The RNG is brutal sometimes.
@quantumjet2538 ай бұрын
Based on spending a month's worth of dilithium making Isomags for over two dozen characters I worked out a system/technique that dramatically reduced the amount of dilithium spent making these things. It doesn't guarantee absolute success but I'm more than confident it's not simply me being 'superstitious' but does actually work... 1. Always roll for at least four or five Isomags at a time. 2. Roll for each in line just two or three times. 3. Leave a short second to three seconds between rolls; and make sure the gap between each roll is different. 4. Do this late at night to early morning; never during the daytime (as I'm in Europe I've no idea if this is based on a bias towards the American-market, or it's down to fewer people playing during these hours, but to this day this actually pays off opening Phoenix boxes too!). 5. Go through the line of Isomags four or five times. If the one you're after (for me it was always Phaser) doesn't pop up, stop!!! Wait a couple of hours, and repeat the process. 6. When the Isomag roll you're after arrives, stop!!! As above, wait a couple of hours before repeating the process. 7. Make sure you have a decent amount of dilithium to spend, ie. around 60-80,000. Having a low amount also seemed to sway the gambling towards poorer luck! (I know this one sounds extremely superstitious, but from experience I worked out that having more dilithium when carrying out this process made the process more successful). The alternative of working on just one Isomag at a time, and not stopping until the one I was after arrived absolutely guaranteed I would spend more Dilithium on a single Isomag than I would following the above technique. Regarding the time of day; I can guarantee I get somewhere between 12 to 16 Phoenix upgrades opening these during the daytime. Opening them late at night/early morning hours rewards me between 16 to 25 Phoenix upgrades (obviously with more higher grade tokens). Again, I'm not sure if this down to a bias towards the American market or simply about the amount of players in my location at the time. I'm not concerned or complaining about this; I'm just pleased to know that there's a 'better' time to open these boxes. A note about rolling several Isomags at the same time; there's a strange situation that opening lockboxes, phoenix boxes, and it applies to rolling Isomags, that doing one, by itself, is absolutely guaranteed to produce the worst possible result. When opening lockboxes or phoenix boxes you have to open a few at a time for the best results (for me it's a minimum of ten). An example, proof of this, is during the free Phoenix box events, I open them when I get them and I think I have got the lowest grade token all but a couple of times, which is far worse 'luck' than I've had when opening several at a time.

Heya, love the videos. Keep the awesome content coming! I just wanted to say, if you didn't know, that the loot collection on Playstation is totally different, all you have to do is fly near it & it automatically picks it up. I wish it was like that on PC! Even with keybinds it takes ages to collect everything & the screen clutter is crazy. Thanks for another great video! 🖖

I found few more maps for salvage: Undine Assault and Counterpoint near Terok Nor(advanced), but they have some issues, like phases before Trok Nor appears. So yes best way get it's a patrol: Ninth Rule, Rescue and Search and Trouble Over Terrh

Does Advanced difficulty give more loot then normal? Watched a vid by another content creator (but that was using patrols to level ship mastery) who chose 'normal' difficulty, so never even tried 'advanced'. Thanks for the vid though, learned a lot (didnt know you could reroll isomag) plus knowing that isomag economy crashed is hopefully a sign the same eventually happens on console. I'm a huge fan of your content, keep them coming.

I apprettge effort if giving us this knowledge, as a Bethesda Game Veteran I can loot items faster as my shadow knowing Future. And the grind in STO ia not as Bad a in Fallout 76 but I stick away from the iso mag as long as possible. I mean I'm in my 5 year on Xbox and finally grasp the fleet stuff and how bad it is to train your boffs on console. If I ever go to catch the high damage numbers I will surely come back to this video and even guide other here but for the moment... Nah I'm fine, thanks non the less.

A nice way to get a lot of salvage is to do the Kinjer Patrol with all of my chars on advanced and send the stuff to my main char. Depends on how many chars you have at the time you get to the char with which you started with the cooldown is over and you can start again. After the first elite random i knew the market will go down so with this way i got around 700m in few days with rerolling to Phaser Isos and i always had enough salvage.

the fact that autoloot isnt built in by now is a bit frustrating...
@matthewdoyle36288 ай бұрын
It's be nice if they added salvage to R&D Boxes as you open them, if it was 400 for normal, 720 for advanced and 1440 for elite it would help. I'd even consider buying salvage bundles from the dil store if fairly priced. Re-Engineering Isomags is an expensive endeavour. I've stopped re-engineering as the beam mod is quite cheap at the moment, last I checked between 1.4 and 2 mil on the exchange.

10:40 considering how they drop like flies to you, not having time to scatter around ... and since I don't do that much damage yet ... I have to ask why advanced and not normal? Does normal give less loot?
@TimberwolfCY8 ай бұрын
Yes, Normal is quite a bit less loot. But keep perspective: this is a game of time and steps. It takes time and effort to get where he and some other players are, myself included.

Right? Getting the mod you want on Isomags seems to be the same chance of getting a lockbox ship.

I have 40K salvage playing for just over a week , just salvage everything I don’t need, mostly from patrols .
@dave_n8pu8 ай бұрын
I think you did a patrol on Advanced and one on Elite, to me that is like comparing apples to oranges. Why not do both on Elite, or both on Advanced? That way to me anyway, it would be as close to an equal comparison as you could get in this game. Unless the power creep has advanced enough so I could do Elite's without a problem, I'll stick with advanced, for a couple of reasons, I haven't updated my ship set up in a year or two, so I have serious doubts I could do an Elite with getting 'eliminated' in a matter of seconds.

I like to use my sci to get salvage, because I don't have a heavy canons build. Put a grav down and spam any exotic of your choosing. Stuff dies before the warp in animation is done. It's so satisfying xD Can I ask you something different here? Do you think Voth Antiproton is good for a tank? Do you know if it stacks with Supression Fire?
@flamedweller94298 ай бұрын
I play on console and when it comes to collecting loot from enemy drops it's collected automatically without having to press a button, unfortunately there's no salvage all option compared to PC which would make it so much easier not just in getting more salvage, but also when it comes to clearing out the inventory as well.

I still think there’s a cap in place on salvage you got 5,500 from a run where as I get 1,500 on average seems it keeps lowering the drop rate if you’ve salvaged enough which is disappointing

I salvage all white consoles, vendor rare and above and vendor all ship weapons, shields etc. Is there a reason to salvage rare and higher items? Seems like I get just as many components from whites.
