I'm guilty of being one of those mixers who don't want to change Mic mid scene, unless it's unavoidable and if i do they need to be compatible such as MKH50 and MKH60
@SoundSpeeds5 ай бұрын
Yeah, that's a common way of thinking. Not wrong, not right... depends on the mixer.

I obviously don't run a studio, but I will tell you if you are making an ultra low budget film, California charges a ridiculously high fee for a simple limited liability company (LLC), $800 per calender year. An LLC's main advantage is liability protection, i.e. your personal assets are not at risk for something terrible goes wrong (like hiring Alec Baldwin to do a western). But if your budget is $8,000, the LLC is already 10% of your budget. So obviously, you don't want to do two separate calender years, as that would cost you $1,600. The studios probably look at similar costs as well. Sorry you're not working. How terrible!

That seems like a tiny amount compared to the budget of a feature

@@SoundSpeeds lol. Not my films! Sacramento has really a miniscule industry. It's possible to break even on a film by careful distribution, but most talent flows down the valley and ends up in LA. I did a short which was well received. I priced out doing a feature, and it came to $100,000. Lol. I don't have $100,000 laying around.
