Thanks for the video. I’m just starting network marketing in Germany and I absolutely agree with you that personal product experience and product knowledge is a must before talking to others about the product. It also helps to be super knowledgeable about network marketing itself as most people - at least outside the US - still think it’s either a snowball system or that it doesn’t work. As a self-employed entrepreneur in real estate, I know that network marketing is the cheapest way of building a business and the MLM companies are the fairest employers there are as everybody has equal opportunities.

Agree that it's important they become a product of the product. I like that. Warning though, for people interested in purchasing additional training...check the refund policy thoroughly before committing. There are no refunds unless you can prove you've done what's in the program within 30 days of purchasing and provide proof it didn't work, which may be nearly impossible.

Definitely good advice. I know I am guilty of wanting my new team members to perform sooner than they often choose. Even after training has been put in place it is important to be patient with people and just remember how it was when you started yourself.

Great to hear this kind of honesty about the methods that have been used in network marketing, which have often ignored basic principles of sales and marketing and even common sense! It seems to have often been based on creating a buzz and excitement that gets people interested but - as you say - all too often creates unrealistic expectations. An angle I am going to be using is presenting the opportunity as a 21-day challenge, with a focus on what people will learn through the activity itself - similar to how an online training course is presented. If they start to make some money in the process that will be a bonus - but the main goal is what they will learn about marketing and about themselves - including whether or not this kind of business and this particular company is a right fit for them. This is because my company offers a 30 day money back guarantee on what they pay to register - so this is a risk-free way for people to try it out. I will also be coaching them on setting their own goals as part of the process - because even how to set goals may be a learning curve for some people.

Thanks for that feedback and encouragement! It helps as although I have a supportive upline within the company - which is also now encouraging sharing and exchange of ideas even between teams, I'm stepping outside of the 'standard methods' in how I'm approaching this, whereas my upline - who's been doing this for over 20 years - tends to want to stick to the 'tried and trusted' methods. But the fact is those methods only work for SOME people..... They say 'don't re-invent the wheel' but alloy wheels with suspension and pneumatic tyres are very different from the original wooden wheels that were used in transportation. Travelling on wheels was originally a whole lot slower, and a much more uncomfortable and 'bumpy ride' compared to today. I tend to think of conventional network marketing methods as being like wooden wheels, and believe it's possible to make it far less uncomfortable and not such a 'bumpy ride', although it's always going to be a journey. The next step for me, however, is to complete the 21-day challenge myself and get some results, and take note of the challenges and resistance I come up against in the process - as that way I'll be able to help others when they come up against similar things. :)
