Any chance you can remember what is was like 9 months ago and help someone out that's in that place. I'm trying to shorten the painful learning curve, not find short cuts, but you buy a machine and there are literally no step-by-step visual instructions. You're just left to "intuitively figure it out." I gotta believe there is a repetitive or redundant process and as someone else commented you really just need to KNOW-HOW to dial in your cut for the material you are using and repeat that process making adjustments along the way. Basically knowledge on HOW-TO dial UP or DOWN the power and speed. Would you be up for a screenshare, where you can see what I see and gimme the nickel tour? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thank you for the cut test. Nice layout and I used it. I like it for the looks with the puzzle pieces, being compact and its layout. But... I was told never to use a diode laser at 100% power as it shortens the lifetime of the diodes drastically For my 10W laser I changed the speeds to 1...7 mm/s and the power to 30...80% having 6 times 10% steps. The sweet spot speed power's found: (2,50) (3,60) (4,70), with the first one, 2mm/s@50%power coming out on top because of its clean cut; no hard fibers in the plywood to break manually.

That is something that has been disproven lately. Older diodes ran too hot and would fail more quickly if run at 100%. Newer designs have negated that.

Products having a lifespan, is a what drives the industry too, is a fact. And if a test shows that laser diodes keep on working with equal lifespan at 100%, I don't trust it immediately. So I take what you say with me, but with care.

Just got a quick question regarding your files on the engrave is there a reason you've used a gradient image. Reason for asking is other tutorials I've seen simply just use the material test feature inside lightburn and that would just fill the boxes up

I upgraded my D1 non pro 10w to 20w and it's doing a strange thing. When its cutting out a box it moves to the left a bit first them cuts making the box the right size but not in the right place, did not have this problem with the 10w, any suggestions? Thanks in advance,

Thats a lot of work for something that is already built-in to Lightburn. Although Lightburn's material tests won't allow manual label changes but they came out with a new invention awhile back called a pen that creates a solution to that. The built-in functions also allow for a lot more flexibility for the items on the X/Y like freq or LPI. The built-in allows for material testing of a lot more parameters and it only takes like 30 sec to setup and start running. The only drawbacks to the built-in is you can't manually change the labels (but I do know a few guys with lasers that can use a program like Lightburn to put a label on later anywhere I want) and your forced to rectangles for cut or fill patterns.
