Great watch. Love watching the full build. You budget is much higher than the standard budget lol.. exhaust, suspension, seat unit, labour, got to be £8000 ?

I think the suspension would cost a bob or 2.
@MrJayjay04202 жыл бұрын
One doesn't need a power commander or a Race ECU. There are plenty of excellent ecu flashes that work quite well with the exhaust. Literally, what 90% of people looking for more power do. I have seen the power gains with the R1 with an exhaust and flash.
@BikesofRye2 жыл бұрын
I would have thought the biggest improvement would have been the exhaust? Removing all that weight from the bike and then having it plugged in and the restrictions removed and fuelling optimised? An expensive upgrade though
@evanjohn5032 жыл бұрын
wouldn't it have been cheaper to start with an R1M and go from there or are they still sold in limited nos? Just had a rummage in the back of my van and found a Panigale so I'll see you there

Thanks for more great content :-)...Good to hear Tarren say grippy seat and pegs were the biggest things. I've put stomp grip on my bike and got gripy seat to fit(under 100 quid) . If your not racing anyone who cares about 5 more bhp. I'm sticking with stock pegs ( my ones are high enough if you take the hero blobs off and I have sharpend the grips with hacksaw ( makes them a lot less slipy) ...cost zero. Although have spent 2k on suspension ( there goes the budget:-)

A little bit of a disappointing ending to be honest. When you make all these changes, there are a couple of things your audience wants to see. 1) What are the details of the changes and the effects they will have on the bike and 2) Compare the performance using actual references before and after the changes are made. Maybe you covered number 1, but not in much detail. For example, with all the changes to the weight, you didn't mention the final weight of the bike! How did it compare to the standard showroom weight? How much time could be contributed to the changes? If you categorise weight (loss) as a performance gain, it would be nice to know the specific effects on performance. Not just "it feels lighter and improves the handling". With number 2, okay difficult because you're not on the track. But if you did a couple of laps before changing the exhaust and then a couple of laps after, we could see how any performance gain translates to time. With Tas on the bike, I'm sure he could have put in a couple of reference laps. At the very least, it would have been nice to see how the complete bike actually fared on the track, other than just some nice stylistic shots. What was it like against the standard R1? Or a comparable bike on the trackday? Without some better references to the performance differences, it's literally just a lot of talking. I don't mean it to sound harsh, but my takeaway from this video other than "oh those parts look cool" was that I have no idea whether the changes were worth it. We don't even know what the final cost was!

Gearing makes all the difference on the R1 I'd suggest this order of mods Strip road crap Change gearing 15-42 Race fairings -sell oem Rearsets and clip ons Remove abs Exhaust and reflash Job done.
@2002RM2 жыл бұрын
What about airbox/air filter? These are inexpensive. And at the very least you need decent suspension. I would actually put suspension at the top of the list. Yes, expensive but it will bring more skill gains and performance gain for every other change made after it.
@Focused_Veteran2 жыл бұрын
@@2002RM if you're racing, yeah suspension will make a difference, but for your average track day rider, I've not met many at all that can honestly say they are limited by their current suspension set up, especially on new bikes like R1s etc.
@Focused_Veteran2 жыл бұрын
@@2002RM in regards to filters and airbox, the added performance you'll see from them is tiny, again, for most, extracting even the stock performance from a standard modern 1000s bike is an issue, any increases to power go wasted because they simply don't have the current ability to use it. The reflash I suggested is purely for riderablity, especially on the r1s where the throttle connection is so twitchy, having a reflash smoothes it out and helps loads with picking it up mid corner.
@2002RM2 жыл бұрын
@@Focused_Veteran Then they don't know their bikes well enough. I don't have the new R1 so I suppose the factory suspension maybe good enough for most.
@2002RM2 жыл бұрын
@@Focused_Veteran Fair enough. I think you're referring to the fairly casual rider though. I thought these series of vids were pitched towards those who were really looking for performance out of their track bikes. Okay maybe not going racing but good enough to know where improvements are needed. Definitely not newbs or casual riders.

2-3 hp from an exhaust and air filter....Hmmmm, 200hp stock that's 1% to 1.5% gain for how much money??? I bet it's a tad more than 1% to 1.5% of MSRP, right????
@2002RM2 жыл бұрын
It's not 200hp stock I don't think and the biggest advantage to the change is opening up the range of performance. Flash, re-map, etc can gain more. You can't do those without upgrading the exhaust. Sure there are other exhaust options too which might be suitable. Still even if it was 10hp gain, I don't think that's the main benefit. The ability to tune the mapping and get more midrange or sit in the bike's sweetspot with the right gearing can take seconds of a laptime. For a trackbike, value of mods should be measured by how much time you save (or better reliability).

Glad your not changing the OEM air filter, neglable gains (1-2 bhp on most) and a airbox and engine full of dirt and dust… it’s not worth it unless you need those 2 bhp in racing (not track use). For some unknown reason it’s what everyone seems to do… When I see a ‘race’ filter I throw it in the bin and put a standard filter back 👍
