Wow wow wow. That first peak through the tiny window actually made me tear up. I could only dream of visiting Antarctica because I have a chronic illness, but thank you so much for sharing your journey with us. ♥
@ArielWaldman5 жыл бұрын
I'm so touched to hear that because that's exactly how I felt in the moment and I do want to share as much of this as I can. I know how much of a privilege it is to go to Antarctica and IMO a responsibility to convey/share it in a meaningful way with others. More to come.

Ariel Waldman thank you for understanding that honestly. I had to even leave school and my animal science program because of my disability. It’s hard. And It means the world to me that people go out of their way to share these wonderful experiences with us back at home. Not to mention all the science goodness. ❤️ I can’t wait for more.

I actually lived in Christchurch when you were there, I drove past the airport many times seeing those aircraft and dreaming about going on them. :) Awesome to see what you actually did.
@ArielWaldman5 жыл бұрын
Oh, wow! Even though I had been to Christchurch once before, it wasn't until this time that I really grasped just how much of the city is centered around being a portal to Antarctica.
@VincentGroenewold5 жыл бұрын
It kind of is indeed, many know about it, many don’t, but these planes are hard to miss and ask questions about when driving past. :) Thanks again for sharing your experiences!

@@VincentGroenewold Hi Vincent, Each year usually around the end of Sept/early Oct, there is an Antarctic Deep Freeze Open Day @ CHC where U.S.A.F. C.17 Globemasters are open to the public. Depending on operational requirements, there may be a R.N.Z.A.F. C-130 Hercules etc. They have a new system for this day - free tickets were available through Evenbrite a] for flight deck and b] back only. They allocated x# of tixs per 30 minutes - NO alteration. I love this. And your women's advice meeting reminded me of my woman mountaineer friend. She said she when she went with a more experienced woman mountaineer for the first time they told her to face them when you pee. "YOU TURN AROUND SO YOU CAN LOOK THEM RIGHT IN THE EYE IF THEY DARE LOOK OVER."

I have a question. Just if you could please answer it. So me and my uncle are planning to go to Antarctica but we don’t know how to get there like which airport do we book the flight and. How do we get our extreme weather clothes.
@ArielWaldman5 жыл бұрын
Isaul Rocha - if you want to visit the edge of Antarctica as a tourist, you have to take a ship, typically from South Africa or the bottom of South America. You will need to find a tour company that offers the trip.
@moneyjbanner97305 жыл бұрын
Ariel Waldman. I’d take a ship If i didn’t get really bad sea sick. But since I get really bad sea sick I don’t think I’ll be able to take a ship. But if I could take a airplane like how you did how do I do that. Or if you could leave a link of all information to go to Antarctica that will be perfect
