If you want to get v-cut lower abs but you just can’t figure out how to do it, you will definitely want to watch this video. I’m going to give you the no b.s. hard science on how to effectively develop the muscles of the abdominal region to make your lower abs more visible with a prominent v line. Some will tell you that this is genetic and you either have it or you don’t, they simply don’t understand anatomy and are doing you a disservice by making you watch their videos.

Here’s the truth. The first thing that you will need to do beyond anything else is get your body fat levels down. For men, this is particularly important since the area that tends to be the most stubborn, where body fat accumulation is the last to come off when leaning up, is the lower abdominal region. This means, no short term diet or nutrient restriction is going to get you the v-cut abs you’re looking for.
You’re going to have to dedicate yourself to a proper nutrition plan for awhile in order to get lean enough to see a difference. That said, there are ways to make this a lot easier than it has been for you up to this point. The first is in a video that I will link at the end of this one where I show you how to lose weight and body fat without having to count calories. It has to do with utilizing your own plate for dividing up your food in a way that takes the complexity out of getting ripped.
That said, there is some encouraging news as well. You don’t have to wait until you get low body fat to start seeing the benefits of your hard work. Because men tend to drop body fat from their upper abdominal region first and due to the fact that the obliques are muscles that run all the way from the ribcage, you will be able to see their development even at higher body fat levels. The exercise I’m going to show you is going to help you to target the obliques as will many others on this channel.
When it comes to the obliques, there are two separate muscles. The internal obliques (which are deeper and further from the surface) and the external obliques. These muscles actually run perpendicular to each other and serve two entirely different functions. The external obliques insert onto the iliac crest and have a tendinous sheath that blends into this attachment called the aponeurosis. This is the “v’” cut line that you are familiar with in the lower ab region.
The internal oblique has fibers that run perpendicular to the v-cut line. They too have a shared tendinous sheath that feeds directly into the thickening and also share a common connection with the deepest of the abdominal muscles - the transverse abdominis. We know that when we can transmit force through a muscle and it’s fibers that we can also relay this into the fascia and tendinous attachment of this muscle to the bone.
With the three steps shown here we can maximally activate and contract this area known as the v-cut line. First you want to flatten the belly by contracting the transverse and bringing your belly button closer to your spine. Next, you want to posteriorly tilt your pelvis and activate the rectus abdominis from the top. Finally, rotation to the same side that you are trying to contract is going to recruit the internal oblique the hardest. Do this three step combo and you will feel a contraction in this area like never before.
Continue to train this muscle 3-5 times per week at the end of your other ab training and workouts and you will get much more neuromuscular control of it. It won’t take long, when combined with a solid nutrition plan, to start seeing the development of this often times neglected area.

Watching Jeffs videos and these are the thoughts in my head: I'm training incorrectly, I'm eating incorrectly, I'm sleeping incorrectly, I'm drinking water incorrectly, I'm probably breathing with the incorrect set of muscles that won't activate my lungs properly hence will negatively impact my performance in training

Don't worry mate, I now have the upper abs, Took me five months to lose 20+ kilos. It's quite easy, meanwhile getting buff isn't nor getting rid of those fit to fat stretch marks I gained when I got to college and became obese, lol.

James Christopher Cirujano Good news is, I went from 117 kg to 97 with keto diet alone, now, for about a month an 2 days, I went to gym and lost another 3 kg. Good news for me is even tho I didn’t lost a lot in weight, I did lost a lot in centimeters on my waist, about 4 or 5 cm in 1 month, that’s the real deal for me.

My perspective is I got fat and I got out of that. I hope to get my friends to do it as well as most of us got fat during college. I'm still 21 so I have time. @@je6566 It's not impossible, though. Staying hypocaloric while maintaining a positive nitrogen balance requires a managed diet. I've lost a few pounds of fat and gained a few pounds of muscle over the past few months. Nothing extreme.

I feel like my diet is correct since I'm under a caloric deficit and eating lots of raw foods with protein. However I don't think I'm doing enough (or the right) form of cardio to lose that remaining lower belly fat to expose the lower abs and v-cut.. any suggestions from those who have achieved a body fat under 10%? What's the best cardio to do and how often should one do it along with weight lifting?

@@nicebars What's your BF estimation now? If around 10-12%, try to lose your weight a little bit more, maybe around 2-4 kg loss. You need to force your body to burn stored fat, and since there's no (natural) spot reduction we can only lose our overall weight. It may take some time depends on your physique now.

I was only around a 22% body fat and after 6 months of eating right and exercising, I've gotten down to 13% body fat (still the same weight at 172lbs). So it definitely takes time and consistency. While my abs are now pretty defined, only the top 4 are really visible and the bottom 2 and "V" are only barely noticeable, so I still have work to do to get that last few inches at the bottom. Its been really hard to stay on course but it really does work eventually. As soon as you start seeing progress, it gets a lot easier because you can actually see that its paying off. Good luck to anyone who is just starting out and stick with it!

Hey Jeff you make really good vids for individual muscle groups for example I just watched your shoulder workout video and a lot of your workouts involve cables or gym machines so I will really appreciate it if you can add a dumbbell only variation to every workout as-well. Jeff! First off thanks for all your videos, your extended catalog has really helped me to grow my shoulders, Legs, he’ll even calves and forearms. You always tell us listeners to drop something in the comments that we’d like to see you make a video. My problem is when I’m at social events with friends, that I really tend to fall off my diet. I was wondering if you might show us what you do to A. Fight peer pressure to eat bad or drink alcohol and B. What sort of choices you’d make when it comes to eating out. I’m not a big fan of paying 10-12 bucks for a salad that doesn’t leave me full. Thank you for your videos! Hope you can help a dude out, and if you want a plan that puts the science back in stre..... wait that’s your line

What's the best type of cardio to do to get under 10% body fat? I already eat extremely healthy and am under a caloric deficit. Still have some remaining lower belly fat though

Hello Jeff. Hopefully you can make a core and leg workout vid for us people with foot issues. I have a fused left ankle and I cannot run, jump or squat much at all. I'm in my early 30's and just started back working out and trying to lose weight. 6'3 285 (lost 7lbs over the past few weeks thanks to you. Small victories right). Thanks for the vids can't really afford your programs just yet.

Watching your videos and following your ig ,people at the gym start aksing me about stuff i do and how to perform them . You took things to another leavel and adore it . Hey quick question. Just started really taking fitness seriously and working out. For whatever reason with my schedule and self discipline I have a tendency to break my workout up instead of back to back sets and exercises. I’ve seen some serious gains already but wondering how important intensity is factoring in I’m lifting the same weight load. Thanks.
