When I saw your first videos, I think a year ago, I though “this guy is building a great watch conversation channel”, not as much about reviews and hot topics but the journey of watch owning and collecting. Nice to see you making videos again.

Well put. Aspirational items in ones life shouldn’t be an impulse buy. And watches are so small and transportable that it’s quite easy to do so. A car or home is by its very nature, a more demanding purchase. I really appreciate that perspective.

Nice and genuine take. The fun is in the journey and not the destination in watch collection. Unfortunately not all think the same hence the existence of flippers and grey dealers.

I couldn’t agree more, unfortunately I am on the waiting list for for many watches, not many called me, they all expect me to buy some stuff I don’t want before considering as as a watch buyer. Congrats for your acquisition.

Totally agree on the journey and the stairs to climb in passion. Also, on the fact of not kneeling for what remains a watch (useless nowadays in absolute terms and not vital). I was able to get a Hulk like you, and recently a blue Overseas. I'm waiting for my blue Royal Oak, which may never come. I also live in Switzerland, and it's not easier than elsewhere (we are a rich country, with a lot of local buyers).

Overseas is also crazy hard to get now, especially in blue. congrats!

@@watchcraft Yes, I was told a 3 to 5 year delay when I received mine, depending on where you are on the list.

Congratulations on those awesome pieces! I agree with your philosophy about the journey. For me, it’s not just the appreciation for the watch but also the hunt. If they were easy to acquire, it wouldn’t be as much fun.

Thank you Frank. Anything new in your collection this year?
@frankkirby70463 жыл бұрын
@@watchcraft Yes. I bought the”Batgirl” about three months ago from an AD in Las Vegas. I was surprised because I had very little history with him. Then about two months ago he texted me that he had the new date 41mm Submariner available but to decide quickly. It was a no brainer for me. Although I already have a 40 mm no date Sub and was not looking for the newer model, I felt like it was an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up. I would never flip a watch. In fact, I have never sold a watch ever. I let my sons use or gift them anything I have, but they don’t appreciate the little Swiss beauties like I do.

@@frankkirby7046 Wow congratulations! Batgirl and a Sub, that's fantastic. I'm thinking about getting either the Explorer 36mm or Oyster Perpetual 36 next year.

Eventually Rolex buyers get tired of these games, wait lists, begging, groveling, making friendships with dealers, etc. and they move on to buy from another manufacturer or from the grey market. Adults like to be treated and respected like adults, When dealers play games and treat you like children, there is no reason to play along.

I am travelling to Zurich next month from the US. I have been looking for Submariner here but absolutely no inventory. What are the chances to find one in Zurich at an AD?
@watchcraft3 жыл бұрын
Maybe they'll sell you one if you buy it along with two other watches. Submariner alone zero chance unless you have history there.

Are they less expensive in Switzerland?? I mean low taxes..

No, they usually factor in VAT in the sales prices to make the watches cost about the same all around the world. VAT here is 7.7% btw.
