You need to watch yourselves. I have no desire to get back together with my ex. She betrayed me in the lowest of ways and I need a backstabber like that in my life like I need cancer. First of all getting them to meet up for a coffee even after going to silent for a few weeks. There's no clear answer especially when I don't know the greater details of your situation, but I will say this... Sometimes we have to make a decision to walk away from someone we love because they don't desrve us. I feel like in your situation you should be walking away and only consider taking her back if she makes a real effort to correct the things she's potentially done. If there's nothing she got from you that she won't get from her ex then... what would be the incentive for her? If there was something you provided that her ex won't, then she will likely miss that. I'm not sure I'd play things any differently just becasue there's another guy on the scene, that just means it sucks more and makes it a bit less likely. But always once broken up, we can only do what gives us the best chance, tohere's nothing we can do to 'force' things to go the way we want. It's a relatively passive process for best results.

My boyfriend an I broke up last week after 2 and 1/2 years of being together. Good question Gabi... big tragedies in our lives often shake us up a bit.. It can take us a while to re-adjust, and when we have, we have a new set of life priorities. IT's impossible to know now if he's feeling shaken up and confused, or if he will find clarity and want to be with you once again. I had a situation with an ex like this - We agreed to take 6 months apart and live our own lives, and decide after that with clear minds. We ended up back together, but that was never guaranteed.. To me. I was willing to give the relationship 6 months, but if either of us were unsure by that point, then I was ready to walk away. I think the important thing is that you decide for yourself a healthy amount of time to give him for your own well being. Perhaps 6 months is a good time frame to give someone, after which it seems unlikely they'll change anytime soon. ..

I know the feeling personally so well... While it sucks and while there's definitely no guarantee, it's the price we pay sometimes for being in love.. But remember at all times, staying open to the idea of him coming back is a choice... And the second it becomes too much, you do have a choice to move on and write him off emotionally in your brain. well, what if you reached out to your ex after over a month, and she didn't even reply? I just said "Hey, I hope you're ok. I was just wondering what you're up to, now that your exams are over. Hey Max, it always sucks but yeah these things happen... If she's not replying then there's a reason for it in her mind. It could be that she needs space, it coudl be that she doesn't want to ever have to think about past relationships. She coudl be well and truly done with the relationship too. There are so many factors at play in these situations, but ultimately, the end message is that she's not in a space to be dating you at least now. So your best move is to move on without her, and if she comes back to you in a few months, then that's great, but if she doesn't, at least you didn't hold your life back for her and wasted time and opportunities.

yeah that's what I thought. But sooner or later someone will have to reach out, because as I said we still have some of each other's stuff. And I know her, she's not the "the past is the past" type and just lets go of it. She likes to revisit old emotions with pictures, texts etc. But Maybe she's not in the headspace for it right now, with her trip coming up and our breakup being so recent. I did it wrong she left me for a 3month rebound and a police order on me. But 5months later she broke the order to see if I had changed. So we meet and talk about getting back together and taking the police order off. Then the next day I call her and she got a friend to say it was her boyfriend. Not saying she doesnt mean it per se but that has happened to me before and she didnt come back. I've learned just focus on rebuilding yourself for YOU not her. Ex/ working out, reading, taking on more responsibilities, develop new hobbies and philosophies, assume the worst that if it's true you arent surprised and if it isnt you're ecstatic, learn how to emotionally detach and become more emotionally and physically self reliant. Your ex seeing you make so many moves and clearly learning from your mistakes will make you so much more attractive and show her you arent the person she had originally wanted to break up with.
