How to get your first wedding client, my story of going from zero weddings to over 20 a year

I offered free videography services to build my reel on craigslist last month. I got call next day and filmed my first wedding video the following week. It was a lot harder than I thought, but it was fun. Client loved the final product. She also paid me 300 bucks for the 5hrs of work I did that day btw. All the other requests I received from that add was for music videos and H.S. sport filming :(

Patience and persistence, that is only one wedding, you need to be shadowing and working on 10-20 before you really jump out and off to do your own full time. You need a solid reel then advertising and then slowly but surely the word of mouth will build.

Do you know if there are any websites like that in Australia? The best I can do is advertising on facebook.

Unfortunately, I don't as I never been or had to look for that area, I would join some facebook groups and ask around in the creative community.

Somehow you knew this is exactly what I needed today. Just finished a Highlight Reel of wedding footage I have shot over the last 18 months. (Would love some feedback if you have 60 seconds to visit my channel) I dropped it on social media, the website etc and have not seen 1 lead off of it yet. I did receive my first deposit for my first "real" wedding shoot in November, so really on cloud nine for that. I had been on the fence whether The Knot or Wedding Wire is worth the investment, but it certainly seems to have paid off for you. Thanks for sharing!
