Hey Stevie. Thank you for the great contents with your honest thought. I'd never thought I am going to upload my music on the music library platforms until these days. I am a composer mainly for the films. However there's certainly a limitation which i cannot deny even i am still trying to promote my albums and music through social media. The thing is that, when I was making my videos, i was looking for music composed by someone via artlist. And then just came out with an idea like why am i not uploading or using my own music on the platform. So while searching about it, your video popped up! your video really helps me to decide and think what i can do next. Thanks! :)

Great video. Thanks for the tips! Do you have any videos or info on registering your songs with PROs before launching them in libraries like artlist? Thanks for your help ! 😊
@Steven_Beddall Жыл бұрын
I don't have any videos on that specifically because every country has a different PRO with a slightly different process, but generally it's very easy to register your music with just about any PRO. Also, you can always pitch your music to Artlist ahead of registering the songs. In some cases, they may offer an exclusive contract where they will register the music on your behalf, so it's sometimes best to wait until after you apply. This applies to sync & production libraries as well. 😊

The songs that I will send must be in the same genre (lofi album or something) or mix of all genres? 2.the songs i send in the application to Artlist should be visible beforehand on spotify/youtube and other libraries (audiojungle, motion) ? 3. The songs that I send to them in the application cannot be in the content ID?

It can be on streaming platforms and have an ISRC under the non exclusive agreement with Artlist as long as it's not registered with content ID via your distributor. @wolfsamuels2357 Жыл бұрын
Send them 3-5 tracks maximum - make sure they are EXCELLENT quality - they accept less than 1 percent of the music they are sent. You get paid when subscribers download your music - not much per download, around 40-50 cents BUT you can still earn a LOT of money if you write popular tracks. They pay out once a year in December.

@wolfsamuels2357 Thank you for your answer! I've heard that in some cases, they pay in advance for a music track. Are you sure that only if subscribers download my music, i can get paid from them? This is your own experience from there?

@@avivshuker actually yes you are right - they do offer buyouts as they now have a publishing arm. The last time I submitted music they suggested that option but I refused as my other tracks had historically earned more from downloads than the sum they offered for the new tracks. Hey Stevie! Thanks for sharing the knowledge, very helpful advices. I have a question regarding the non-exclusivity of artlist. I understand that it is an non-exclusive library but was wondering how it works with submitting tracks to other non-exclusive libraries at the same time? Any chance of getting in trouble somehow? Once again thank you for your videos. Just getting started with the syncing world and your videos has been very helpful! Martin
@Steven_Beddall2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the other library to some extent. The one thing to keep in mind is content ID, some music libraries are developing their own CID systems (Artlist included) so that could potentially be an area of conflict if you're uploading the track to multiple platforms that also register the tracks with CID. Currently many of my non exclusive Artlist tracks also live on Motion Array, Pond 5 and Audiojungle without any issues. If there's a specific library you are curious about, no harm in reaching out to Artlist to see how they feel about it! 😊Cheers Martin!

Thanks for the advice! I discovered Artlist recently and have had my eye on them - glad that the partnership has worked out for you. As someone who records instrumental rock, I've been struggling to decide on how to structure my music before getting in touch with libraries like Artlist. In your experience, do these libraries prefer music that sounds like it could be released on any album, or something more streamlined that's more geared towards use in media as background music?
@Steven_Beddall2 жыл бұрын
I think following basic production friendly guidelines for any library submission is recommended but not necessarily essential depending on the style and genre, it’s a bit subjective!
@zachaluza34102 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I've been thinking about ways to hit that middle ground - original music that can stand on its own while also easily working as library/background music. It's a good chance for me to think about why I make the music I usually do, and which other styles I'm interested in exploring.

Hey Stevie.... thanks for all you do on this channel... it's always informative and worth watching. I'm currently preping the supporting materials to make my own Artlist contributor application.... and wondered whether you had any thoughts on how critical the social media links (and how 'active' they might seem) are? I'm happy enough with where I've got the music, bio and suitable 'artist' photos, but this is a new musical project so I'd be building any social media presence from scratch.... I'm more than willing to do that but any thoughts on how much time/focus I place into that part of the process would be welcome.... With thanks and very best wishes, John

Hey man, a couple questions. I'm wondering about if it's possible to submit as multiple accounts in different genres. is that possible? (indie rock, folk acoustic, hip-hop/electronic, lofi) also, can you expound on the meaning of social media/internet "presence"? if I make accounts with good looking content on them but little-to-no followers, will that fly? is it more about having accounts with good looking content vs how many followers? if # of followers is prioritized what's the bare minimum would you guess? I have over a decade of music in different genres I'm trying to find a way to capitalize on finally, and I dipped out of social media a couple years ago, so I don't have the profile I used to.
