I'm almost 40 as well and have been doing this all my life but the challenge is maintaing your self-dicipline and not falling out for temptations. That's really not that hard if you're just being strict with yourself, the problem relies more around available resources at all times which we all know are finite. If I was a millionaire, I could easily take my physique to the next level and live an awesome life all the time. You don't need to be rich to stay in good health though but it certainly makes it a hell of a lot easier! This is why I try to create as much passive income streams as possible to achieve financial freedom one day so I can live just like the way I truly want.

I've eliminated video games completely, going for almost a year now, and now every-time I get any desire to play or pick up anything I feel instant guilt because we never get this time back and I'd rather spend it on things that will actually impact my life. My goal and time dedicated to it, take priority now and I get more satisfaction in achieving and acquiring new skills every day. I dropped multiple hobbies and projects and decided to just focus on one thing this year. Like you have said here, my goal striving mechanism has attached to coding/creating and I find it so much easier to be consistent and not quit or keep cycling new interest/projects because of how rewarding it is to see the results. Its great listening to you talk about this and interesting how these are actual behaviors that can translate across people's experiences.

The reason meditation is so important bro, is it lets you see how bad the addictions are. So for me, I was drinking tonnes of coffee. But when I started meditating and then quit coffee, where the meditation massively helped with, well I had sleep apnea. So was basically in bed all day for the next few weeks. So went, holy shit. What is wrong? Do I have cancer? But, even getting to that space where I could meditate and could quit coffee, I made my bed every day for like 3 months. Then went for a walk. Then went to the gym. It was these small 0.1% increases every day, where it gets to: “well, i better now ditch the alcohol” and “I better quit the coffee” etc. And with the stronger addictions: alcohol, cigarettes etc. They need to be all at the same time. And in order to drop all them at the same time, the 1000 tiny steps improving your life incrementally before that, allows you to then take that larger step. So like the fitness influencers who say: “just count calories”, which essentially is true. But really, eating healthy and getting in the habit of going to the gym for 6-12 months is way more important than counting the calories. So if you JUST cut out the sugar, where is the dopamin coming from? Life then would absolutely feel like hell. Then the person will feel like the source of hell is not having that thing. (hence how addiction works), it’s not when you are having it, it’s when you’re not. So the journaling and the 5 minute meditations get you moving. I’m not disagreeing with anything you’re saying, but the ‘belief’ you can do it. The ‘belief’ you should do it comes from improving yourself a tiny bit every day, where doing that thing is just so incongruent you can’t do it anymore. like the fitness influencers who drink coffee, they believe it’s fine so they keep doing it (as the results are there). So before all is the belief, then whether you take away or add. Anything you can do to improve. Whatever you can. Do that. I’m not disagreeing. Just imagine being addicted to meth though, yes they should just get off meth. But if they can’t, do everything else they can to lead up to it. Then do it as well.
@snowcr7 ай бұрын
Hey bro I agree with what you said. Your comment on sleep apnea caught my eye since I’ve been struggling with getting out of bed recently. Literally feels like no matter how much I sleep, I’m never well rested to wake up feeling refreshed. I don’t think my case is related to caffeine though, but how were you able to solve it? Any tips with both identifying the cause as well as getting rid of it would be greatly appreciated!
@davesmith59397 ай бұрын
@snowcr caffeine just masked it. You get a CPAP machine (get resmed, I tried all the brands and it’s the best) and if you are under 25 can do ‘mewwing’ to bring your jaw forward, if over 25 need to get jaw surgery, is the only ‘cure’. I will be doing with Dr Alfi in the US eventually. He’s the most expensive but also the best.
@davesmith59397 ай бұрын
@snowcr Also lose weight, as even a few extra kg’s massively makes your sleep and sleep apnea worse, so start walking and gymming and adding veggies and stuff first, then remove caffeine once a few kgs are off as caffeine does help lose weight. And by walking and gymming, I mean 10 minute walks and 10 minutes gym. That’s it! No more. Have no rests with the weights, do 3 sets of low weights with 3-5 different exercises. Do the whole body over a week. Build up really slowly. Make sure the workouts are so easy that it doesn’t impact your day. Your goal is simply to make the habit, not anything else. I just did this to lose 20kg. As the fact you do it, then motivates you to do other shit. And the 10 minutes, turns into 20-30 over time and as the weights get bigger you then have rests. And if you can, buy a workout bench and adjustable dumbells + olympic rings. You can do ALL workouts with that combination. Having it at home, and not needing to even go to the gym makes it even easier. Those are the three answers to sleep apnea: 1. Short term: Lose weight + get a CPAP machine. 2. Jaw Surgery and mewwing. Oh, and I also bought a portable oxygen condesor. Was only a few hundred. Based on Dr Berg’s recommendation of oxygen therapy. I don’t use it all the time, but as an alternative to coffee, or if I am exhausted, a little extra oxygen is a nice healthy boost.

Thank you very much Charlie! Currently reading psycho Cybernetics and there is a mention of the goal striving mechanism/ servo mechanism that you talked about. Nice coincidence.

Charlie you are 100% spot on. Especially the short form content which resonates with me. It’s ridiculously frustrating to try and quit it when it’s shoved in my face. Social media is without a doubt an addiction and the algorithm is 100% a satanic anti pattern which I’m sick of.

I’ve built up a landscaping company for some years. I am now 18. I have been smoking weed for a few months. It’s time to move past this faze. It’s not worth it. Success is a complete dedication. That can’t happen when you dedicate to something else partially. Stay AWAY
@JosephFranc07 ай бұрын
Im 22 and have been smoking for nearly a decade, couldnt agree with you more, its not worth a second of it. props to you for seeing it now and not being stubborn. Huge step.

Weed isnt too hard to quit after a few weeks you wont miss it. Message me about your landscaping company bro

Good shit for realizing it early dude. Took me 3 years to come to this realization. Working independently at 18 is legit man, keep it up!
@data010107 ай бұрын
I lost a decade to this and I wish I would've had someone snap me out of it. You will find that there is truly nothing gained from smoking weed. Anyone telling you otherwise and that weed is not addictive, or harmful, is just coping. Enjoy your clarity, enjoy awareness and experience life with more certainty. Good Luck!

Great content, straight to the point, no bullshit, real value. I appreciate you take the time to make these videos. I would like once I become successful to make content like you to inspire more people, this is a true lifestyle that every man should chase in their lives, free from the toxicity and poison that surround us.

As a woman, the root of my goal is always something that encompasses improving my loved ones lives. If the goal is just for me I could care less. When my goal improves the younger generation that is what drives me❤

Considering a young mid income, short term minded person with constant need for cash, are these still worth investing into? I am new to all of these and have incurred so much losses, I am beginning to think I am not doing what is good for me but just following people blindly.

Yep. When you're young , you think you'll have it all figured out by 40. Then you hit 40 and realize that you were soooo wrong. 🤣 I just hit 50 and I feel like I'm starting over. Life is indeed a journey, not a destination.

It breaks my heart that I have to quit ghost of Tsushima and God of war but your absolutely right I'm a man I can't be pretending I'm a samurai, or a 7ft axe wielding god. Also I can easily quit the others I have done so in the past but videogame one is going to be the hardest
@grim16997 ай бұрын
I feel the same man. I’m 24 now and gaming has been such a big part of my life, quitting it completely seems so sad but I know it’s necessary for my success. My hope is that once I find my success I can make room for gaming in the future, until then however, it’s going away.

My least favorite thing about this video is how right he is…You know when someone is telling you things that you sorta already knew but didn’t want to let yourself believe because you love the thing that’s hurting you so much. That’s what this video is. It’s like breaking up with a toxic girlfriend that you have so many great memories with
@gaberealgaminggrg47685 ай бұрын
God at least there’s one thing on this list that I don’t do. I’ve never been a fan of short form content and I already deleted my socials (besides from Snapchat cuz of a group chat with friends but that’s literally the only thing I use it for). If he would have said anime was the last thing I probably woulda just killed myself
