You can also remove the turbo silencers. Remove the y pipe of the intake plumbing, then you can remove the silencers that are installed in the pipe. For those of you who might read this and try, the silencers look like a fan blade made of plastic and are seated in the pipe at the splices. There is two. Remove both and reinstall y pipe. Cheers

They aren't silencers, they dampen air turbulence to allow your turbos to suck air more efficiently. You don't know better than the engineers no matter what momma told you about being a smart boy.

Or you can just pull the hose off and then cap it and have the same thing without spending 300$ and ruining a sensor. Also not having to pull the bov off and clean it every once in a while is nice.

Title was a little misleading. It claimed louder turbo noises which can really only be acheived with aftermarket downpipes, exhaust, and intake. This just made the "blow off" louder. Definately healthier for the truck but if your interested just in the noise there are much easier ways of doing it that dont cost almost $400 dollars. Just research "vta mod". But all in all excellent video and i like how you demonstrated that it can be done in your home garage with basic tools. Keep up the good work!

He keeps mentioning that the TurboSmart BOV will give you a cooler sound. There’s more to it than than. For one, it’s great at relieving turbo pressures built up but don’t get used when the throttle body butterfly closes, and the pressure has nowhere to go except back to the turbine impellers. Potentially making them spin in the opposite direction. The other is that it relieves unwanted byproducts from being introduced into the intake manifold. Hence the oil/ water/ fuel covered MAP sensors, or the oil/ water/ fuel covered TB butterfly valve, or the nasty crap in the bottom of your intercooler. These two other features of the BOV are far more important than the noise it makes.

That does sound pretty bad ass. I cant hear mine at all. All I can hear is the cold air sipping air. But for me to do this job I would've cut the wrong hose, taken off the radiator and not the inner cooler, cut my finger while trying to cut the tape and stripped the fittings going into the blow off valve. That's my luck.

Any modification you do is grounds for denying a warranty claim. We have a Ecoboost F150 in the shop with a bad turbo. Owner just bought the truck less then 5k miles ago. His warranty company is trying to deny his claim because he doesn't have maintenance records for the truck. He has done an oil change and replaced the factory sparkplugs so far.

it's not good to do this because the first hose you took off allows heat to be transferred easily through the intake fan coursing through the back end of the tail pipe. That being said, I haven't got a clue what i'm talking about, but thanks for reading :)

Umm.. blow off valves have nothing to do with making turbos louder.. the sound you’re hearing isn’t the turbo it’s the built up excess air.. changing manifolds and removing restrictive things like CATS make turbos “louder”.. but you can’t make stock turbos but so loud.. after market turbos get loud because of the housings.

Does it matter if one gets a bypass or blow-off valve? Does it affect the turbo or compressed air in any way?

Kou-Lai Chang well the truck is stock with a bypass valve. But we actually upgraded to a Blow off valve and you can look into online they have like such minimal difference that it won’t hurt the car but they make different a spunds because airs flowing differently

"Traditionally blow-off valves vent 100-percent to the atmosphere - If a BOV vents all of that remaining pressure to the atmosphere, boost pressure must start from zero. This can be really frustrating when you’re shifting and experiencing turbocharger lag in every single gear. Recirculating BPV helps decrease lag substantially when going from gear to gear." @@dominic9094 yeah i have a 2.7 ecoboost street truck im building rn and i try and tell people if they want the blow off sound just buy the vta mod for the stock bypass valve as it doesn't take any maintenance. Those turbosmart blowoff valves require lubrication and cleaning every 2 to 3 oil changes.

I installed mine last night on my 2020 and it’s not working. I checked for vacuum leaks and there are none. Not sure what’s going on.🤔

What do you mean it’s not working? It’s not working on idle, driving, or just at all? Cus a lot of it can have to do with the spring tension and how it opens under which pressure

@@RatchetWrenches it’s not working under any condition. It’s not blowing off. The stock by pass was louder when I made it vent to atmosphere. I just don’t think it’s blowing off. According to Turbosmarts website there’s no adjustment. Not sure what’s going on.

Hmm that’s interesting there has to be something wrong because this is a direct plug and play and should be straight forward. I’d retrace your steps and try to find something wrong. Unfortunately I can’t really help not being there analyzing it
